Abstract:We propose an 8-dimensional modulation format based on polarization multiplexed squared 16-QAM constellations. We compare 8D-16QAM, 128-SP-QAM and PM-16QAM using numerical simulations in WDM transmission scenarios at the same baud rates and net bit rates.
