Abstract:Summary The carbonate reservoir in KT-II formation of the Lower Carboniferous system, located in the eastern edge of North Caspian basin was used for this study. The underlying carbonate reservoir changes quickly in facies, dominated by fractured and corrosion hole reservoir. The fractures are mainly high-angle, and approximately match the type of HTI fractures. This paper describes a workflow where azimuthal pre-stack simultaneous inversion was first carried out to obtain elastic parameters such as P-impedance, Vp/Vs and Density, and followed by a Fast Fourier Transform Fit HTI Model method to evaluate the anisotropy-related parameters on the KT-II formation. It overcomes the limitations of the Ruger method. It improves the precision of fracture prediction and effectively characterizes the orientation and density of fractures in the subsalt carbonate reservoirs. The predictions are well matched against the fracture information from drilling. This provides the basis for hydrocarbon development.
