Abstract:With the great growth of power consumption, the scale of load data becomes extremely larger and complex, making the problem of load classification harder than ever before. This paper explores the issue of load classification from the perspective of complex network theory and network tetradic motif. Through transforming a set of load time series into data networks based on the method of Horizontal Visibility Graphs, 60 samples of load time series from nine sectors are divided into four categories. Principally, the basic topological properties of complex networks such as Average Clustering Coefficient (ACC), Average Path Length (APL), and degree distribution are taken into account as macroscopic measurement indexes to roughly classify the loads into three categories. To attain better results, the tetradic motif occurrence frequency is introduced as a mesoscopic measurement index to explore the inherent structure of load time series. Experimental results show that the proposed method manages to classify the 60 samples of load time series into 4 categories dependably and efficiently.
