Abstract:•Film cooling from blocked fan-shaped holes is studied by large eddy simulation.•Composite deposition model is developed to determine the blockage characteristics.•Effects of blockage on the evolution and mixing of coherent structures are analyzed.•Blockages reduce the effectiveness by inhibiting the downwash effect of Anti-CRVP.•Degradation rate of effectiveness caused by blockage and blowing ratio is evaluated.
