Abstract:The South China Sea is a part of the tropical Indo-western Pacific warm pool. Air–sea interactions on various time scales have been identified in the South China Sea region (Wang et al. 1997; Liang and Wu 2000; Wu and Wang 2001; Wu 2002; Xie et al. 2007a; Wu 2010).
