Abstract:Now-a-days security is a challenging task in different types of networks, such as Mobile Networks, Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) and Radio Frequency Identifications Systems (RFIS) etc, to overcome these challenges we use sincryption. Signcryption is a new public key cryptographic primitive that performs the functions of digital signature and encryption in single logical step. The main contribution of signcrytion scheme, it is more suitable for low constrained environment. Moreover some signcryption schemes based on RSA, Elliptic Curve (EC) and Hyper Elliptic Curve (HEC). This paper contains a critical review of signcryption schemes based on hyper elliptic curve, since it reduce communication and computational costs for low constrained devices. It also explores advantages and disadvantages of different signcryption schemes based on HEC.

Abstract:In PKC'04, a signcryption scheme with key privacy was proposed by Libert and Quisquater. Along with the scheme, some security models were defined with regard to the signcryption versions of confidentiality, existential unforgeability and ciphertext anonymity (or key privacy). The security of their scheme was also claimed under these models. In this paper, we show that their scheme cannot achieve the claimed security by demonstrating an insider attack which shows that their scheme is not semantically secure against chosen ciphertext attack (not even secure against chosen plaintext attack) or ciphertext anonymous. We further propose a revised version of their signcryption scheme and show its security under the assumption that the gap Diffie-Hellman problem is hard. Our revised scheme supports parallel processing that can help reduce the computation time of both signcryption and de-signcryption operations.

Abstract:To prevent man-in-the-middle attack, Diffie-Hellman first proposed the concept of the session key exchange protocol, in which the author remove the long term keying material at the end of the session. In our scheme, we apply the session key concept of Diffie-Hellman for cloud computing in the presence of the Trusted Third Party (TTP). Our proposed scheme provides SEVEN security properties by using the session key exchange protocols as symmetric. In our scheme, TTP becomes free from a burden of activities, like to encrypt the requests (Ri) of the Cloud Service Users (CSUs) and to decrypt the services (Si) of the Cloud Service Providers (CSPs) again and again. By using S Performance (EP) for Elliptic Curve Point Multiplication (ECPM), Hash (H), Inversion (Inv), Exclusive oR (XoR), Encryption (Enc), and Decryption (Dec) is (87.5%, 62.5%, 57.14%), (87.5% and 75%), (75%), (97.82% and ≤ 1%), (92.85%) and (50%) respectively. The security requirements of our scheme are; data integrity, data confidentiality, authenticity, non-repudiation, forward secrecy, unforgeability, and untraceability. Our proposed scheme also outperformed performance in terms of flexibility, reliability, and efficiency as compared to existing schemes.

Abstract:With the tremendous benefits of internet and advanced communications, there is a serious threat from the data security perspective. There is a need of secure and robust encryption algorithm that can be implemented on each and diverse software and hardware platforms. Also, in block symmetric encryption algorithms, substitution boxes are the most vital part. In this paper, we investigate semifield substitution boxes using permutation of symmetric group on a set of size 8 S_8 and establish an effective procedure for generating S_8 semifield substitution boxes having same algebraic properties. Further, the strength analysis of the generated substitution boxes is carried out using the well-known standards namely bijectivity, nonlinearity, strict avalanche criterion, bit independence criterion, XOR table and differential invariant. Based on the analysis results, it is shown that the cryptographic strength of generated substitution boxes is on par with the best known $8\times 8$ substitution boxes. As application, an encryption algorithm is proposed that can be employed to strengthen any kind of secure communication. The presented algorithm is mainly based on the Shannon idea of (S-P) network where the process of substitution is performed by the proposed S_8 semifield substitution boxes and permutation operation is performed by the binary cyclic shift of substitution box transformed data. In addition, the proposed encryption algorithm utilizes two different chaotic maps. In order to ensure the appropriate utilization of these chaotic maps, we carry out in-depth analyses of their behavior in the context of secure communication and apply the pseudo-random sequences of chaotic maps in the proposed image encryption algorithm accordingly. The statistical and simulation results imply that our encryption scheme is secure against different attacks and can resist linear and differential cryptanalysis.

Abstract:The concept of multisignature, in which multiple signers can cooperate to sign the same message and any verifier can verify the validity of the multi-signature, was first introduced by Itakura and Nakamura. Several multisignature schemes have been proposed since. Chen et al. proposed a new digital multi-signature scheme based on the elliptic curve cryptosystem recently. In this paper, we show that their scheme is insecure, for it is vulnerable to the so-called active attacks, such as the substitution of a “false” public key to a “true” one in a key directory or during transmission. And then the attacker can sign a legal signature which other users have signed and forge a signature himself which can be accepted by the verifier.

Abstract:In the present era of digital communication, secure data transfer is a challenging task in the case of open networks. Low-key-strength encryption techniques incur enormous security threats. Therefore, efficient cryptosystems are highly necessary for the fast and secure transmission of multimedia data. In this article, cryptanalysis is performed on an existing encryption scheme designed using elliptic curve cryptography (ECC) and a Hill cipher. The work shows that the scheme is vulnerable to brute force attacks and lacks both Shannon's primitive operations of cryptography and Kerckchoff's principle. To circumvent these limitations, an efficient modification to the existing scheme is proposed using an affine Hill cipher in combination with ECC and a 3D chaotic map. The efficiency of the modified scheme is demonstrated through experimental results and numerical simulations.

Abstract:An encryption method is presented with the novel property that publicly revealing an encryption key does not thereby reveal the corresponding decryption key. This has two important consequences: (1) Couriers or other secure means are not needed to transmit keys, since a message can be enciphered using an encryption key publicly revealed by the intented recipient. Only he can decipher the message, since only he knows the corresponding decryption key. (2) A message can be “signed” using a privately held decryption key. Anyone can verify this signature using the corresponding publicly revealed encryption key. Signatures cannot be forged, and a signer cannot later deny the validity of his signature. This has obvious applications in “electronic mail” and “electronic funds transfer” systems. A message is encrypted by representing it as a number M, raising M to a publicly specified power e, and then taking the remainder when the result is divided by the publicly specified product, n , of two large secret primer numbers p and q. Decryption is similar; only a different, secret, power d is used, where e * d ≡ 1(mod (p - 1) * (q - 1)). Abstract:A certificate-based public key cryptosystem has been developed to solve key escrow problems in ID-based public key cryptography, and to remove computational operations for certificate management. Signcryption is a primitive cryptographic that enables signing and encryption to be done in a one step, improving performance by reducing computational loads and communication overheads. Recent research has suggested some pairing-based cryptographic protocols for public key cryptosystems. However, most use Type-1 pairings, which weaken system security by using supersingular elliptic curves over a finite field of characteristics 2 and 3, making them totally unsafe against new attacks designed for Discrete Logarithm Problems. Furthermore, Type-1 pairings that use supersingular elliptic curves over finite fields of massive characteristics are highly inefficient compared to Type-3 pairings. This work proposes a secure and efficient online/offline trade-off scheme based on Type-3 pairings. The safety of the suggested scheme is asserted according to confidentiality and unforgeability based on a random oracle model. Moreover, the efficiency of the proposed approach is evaluated and compared with Type-2 and Type-4 pairings.

Abstract:Vehicular ad-hoc networks (VANETs) enable vehicles to exchange safety information with the surrounding vehicles and infrastructure in order to ensure safety and efficiency in traffic management. Recently however, vehicles come from different manufacturers and therefore use different protocols for the transmission of messages. As a result, communication among vehicles become heterogeneous. Because of this, VANETs face problems related to security and performance. To address this, some heterogeneous vehicular communication-based schemes have been proposed. However, they do not perform well because of an increase in computational overhead. In order to resolve this, we propose a certificateless cryptosystem (CLC) and public key infrastructure (PKI)-based conditional privacy-preserving hybrid signcryption (CP-CPPHSC) scheme. This scheme utilizes bilinear pairings and provides security requirements in a single logical step. Through the CP-CPPHSC scheme, a message is transmitted by a vehicle using the CLC to a vehicle using the PKI. Additionally, the CP-CPPHSC scheme supports the batch unsigncryption method which helps a vehicle to unsigncrypt more than one messages simultaneously. In the random oracle model (ROM), our scheme ensures existential unforgeability against adaptive chosen message attack (EUF-CMA) with respect to a hardness assumption of q-strong Diffie-Hellman (q-SDH) and modified inverse computational Diffie-Hellman (mICDH) problems and indistinguishability against adaptive chosen ciphertext attack (IND-CCA2) with respect to a hardness assumption of q-bilinear Diffie-Hellman inversion (q-BDHI) problem. Our scheme effectively reduces computational cost when compared to state-of-the-art schemes without an increase in the communication cost.
