Abstract:A facile synthesis of carbo-and heterocycles via Fe(III)-catalyzed alkene hydrofunctionalization has been developed. Various alkenes bearing a leaving group could convert to alkyl radicals through hydrogen atom transfer (HAT), and then serve as cyclization dipoles for accessing carbo-and heterocycles. The synthetic utility was further demonstrated by the synthesis of tetracyclic carbocycles from isopregol.
