Abstract:We proposed a mechanism in which the lightness of Higgs boson and the smallness of charge parity (CP) violation are correlated based on the Lee model, namely, the spontaneous CP-violation two-Higgs-doublet model. In this model, the mass of the lightest Higgs boson m(h) as well as the quantities K and J are alpha t(beta)s(xi) in the limit t(beta)s(xi) --> 0 (see text for definitions of t(beta) and xi), namely, the CP conservation limit. Here, K and J are the measures for CP-violation effects in scalar and Yukawa sectors, respectively. It is a new way to understand why the Higgs boson discovered at the LHC is light. We investigated the important constraints from both high energy LHC data and numerous low energy experiments, especially the measurements of electric dipole moments of electron and neutron as well as the quantities of B meson and kaon. Confronting all data, we found that this model is still viable. It should be emphasized that there is no standard-model limit for this scenario; thus it is always testable for future experiments. In order to pin down the Lee model, it is important to discover the extra neutral and charged Higgs bosons and measure their CP properties and the flavor-changing decays. At the LHC with root s = 14 TeV, this scenario is favored if there is significant suppression in the b (b) over bar decay channel or any vector boson fusion, V + H production channels. On the contrary, it will be disfavored if the signal strengths are standard-model-like more and more. It can be easily excluded at (3-5)sigma level with several fb(-1) at future e(+)e(-) colliders, via accurately measuring the Higgs boson production cross sections.
Lightness of a Higgs Boson and Spontaneous CP-violation in the Lee Model: an Alternative Scenario

Abstract:Based on the weakly-coupled two-Higgs-doublet model with spontaneous CP-violation (named Lee model) and the mechanism to generate the correlation between smallness of CP-violation and lightness of scalar mass, as we proposed earlier, we predicted a light CP-mixing scalar $\eta$ in which pseudoscalar component is dominant. It is a natural scenario in which $m_{\eta}\sim\mathcal{O}(10\textrm{GeV})\ll v$. Masses of all other scalars ($h$, $H$, $H^\pm$) should be around the electro-weak scale $v$. Among them, the 125 GeV Higgs ($h$) couplings are standard-model like, and the charged Higgs ($H^\pm$) mass should be around the heaviest neutral scalar ($H$) mass. We discussed all experimental constraints and showed that this scenario is still allowed by data. The strictest constraints come from the experiments of the flavor-changing processes and the EDM of lepton and neutron. We also discussed the future tests for this scenario. It is possible to discover the extra scalars or exclude this scenario at future colliders, especially at the LHC and $e^+e^-$ colliders with $\mathcal{O}(\textrm{ab}^{-1})$ luminosity. We also pointed out that the $Z$-mediated Higgs pair production via $e^+e^-\rightarrow h_ih_j$ ($h_i, h_j$ stand for two of the $\eta, h, H$) would be the key observable to confirm or exclude CP-violation in Higgs sector. The sensitivity to test this scenario is worth further studying in greater detail.

Abstract:The CP violation observed in K- and B-mesons can be successfully accommodated via the CKM matrix in the standard model. However the additional CP violation is required in order to induce the matter and anti-matter asymmetry observed in the Universe. The additional CP violation can be induced by complex vacuum, namely the spontaneous CP violation. In this paper we reveal the intimate connection of the spontaneous CP violation and the lightness of the Higgs boson, which was recently discovered by ATLAS and CMS at the LHC.

Abstract:In this review we do not try to cover all the aspects of physics beyond the standard model (BSM), instead our latest understanding on the BSM will be presented: i) The Higgs sector is likely related to BSM, which can be confirmed at current running large hadron collider (LHC) or the future colliders. Furthermore we pointed out that spontaneous CP violation can be closely related to the lightness of the Higgs boson. ii) Top quark forward-backward asymmetry, which was measured by Tevatron, might be the sign of BSM. We proposed a new color-octet particle Z(C) to account for the observation and ZC can be further studied at the LHC. iii) If dark matter (DM) is utilized to accommodate astrophysical observations, it ought to be observed at the high energy LHC and DM produced at colliders should be the smoking gun signal. iv) Lithium puzzle might also be the sign of the BSM. We briefly review the newly proposed solution to Lithium puzzle, i. e., the existence of non-thermal component during the big bang nuclei-synthesis (BBN). The possible origins of the non-thermal component can be dark matter or the new accelerating mechanism of normal particles.

Abstract:We constructed a model for spontaneous CP symmetry breaking in five-dimensional space-time that solves the strong CP problem. To explain the nature of dark matter and the baryon asymmetry of the universe, three right-handed neutrinos and $U(1)_{B-L}$ gauge interaction are introduced in the bulk, in addition to the field contents of the Bento-Branco-Parada model. The wave-function profiles in the fifth dimension can suppress dangerous operators allowed by symmetries, and the scale of spontaneous CP symmetry breaking can be sufficiently large to be consistent with thermal leptogenesis. In this model, the lightest right-handed neutrino serves as dark matter with a mass of $\mathcal{O}(10)$ keV. This small mass and the necessarily small mixing are explained by the exponentially localized wave-function in the fifth dimension due to a bulk mass term. The correct relic abundance is achieved thanks to the $U(1)_{B-L}$ gauge interaction. The other heavy right-handed neutrinos explain the baryon asymmetry of the universe through leptogenesis, with the required CP violating phases generated by interactions involving heavy leptons.

Abstract:We show that, in the minimal supersymmetric standard model, the possibility for the lightest CP-even Higgs boson to be lighter than Z boson (as low as about 60 GeV) is, contrary to the usual belief, not yet excluded by the CERN LEP2 Higgs search nor any direct searches for supersymmetric particles at high energy colliders. The characteristic of the light Higgs boson scenario (LHS) is that the ZZh coupling and the decay branching ratio Br(h/A -> b (b) over bar) are simultaneously suppressed as a result of generic supersymmetric loop corrections. Consequently, the W(+/-)H(-/+)h coupling has to be large due to the sum rule of Higgs couplings to weak gauge bosons. We discuss the potential of the Fermilab Tevatron and B factories to test the LHS, and show that the associated neutral and charged Higgs boson production process, pp -> H(+/-)h(A), can completely probe the LHS at the CERN Large Hadron Collider.
A 95 GeV Higgs boson and spontaneous CP-violation at the finite temperature

Abstract:The ATLAS and CMS collaborations reported a diphoton excess in the invariant mass distribution around the 95.4 GeV with a local significance of $3.1\sigma$. Moreover, there is another $2.3\sigma$ local excess in the $b\bar{b}$ final state at LEP in the same mass region. A plausible solution is that the Higgs sector is extended to include an additional Higgs boson with a mass of $95.4$ GeV. We study a complex singlet scalar extension of the two-Higgs-doublet model in which the 95.4 GeV Higgs is from the mixing of three CP-even Higgs fields. In addition, the extended Higgs potential can achieve spontaneous CP-violation at the finite temperature and restore CP symmetry at the present temperature of the Universe. We find that the model can simultaneously explain the baryon asymmetry of the Universe, the diphoton and $b\bar{b}$ excesses around the 95.4 GeV while satisfying various relevant constraints including the experiments of collider and electric dipole moment.

Abstract:We show that a new leptophilic Higgs sector can resolve some intriguing anomalies in current experimental data across multiple energy ranges. Motivated by the recent CMS excess in the resonant eμ channel at 146 GeV, we consider a leptophilic two-Higgs-doublet model, and propose a novel resonant production mechanism for the neutral components of the second Higgs doublet at the LHC using the lepton content of the proton. Interestingly, the same Yukawa coupling Yeμ∼0.65–0.81 that explains the CMS excess also addresses the muon ( g−2 ) anomaly. Moreover, the new Higgs doublet also resolves the recent CDF W -boson mass anomaly. Abstract:In the standard model, the weak gauge bosons and fermions obtain mass after spontaneous electro-weak symmetry breaking, which is realized through one fundamental scalar field, namely Higgs field. In this paper we study the simplest scalar cold dark matter model in which the scalar cold dark matter also obtains mass through interaction with the weak-doublet Higgs field, the same way as those of weak gauge bosons and fermions. Our study shows that the correct cold dark matter relic abundance within $3\sigma$ uncertainty ($ 0.093<\Omega_{dm} h^2<0.129 $) and experimentally allowed Higgs boson mass ($114.4 \le m_h \le 208$ GeV) constrain the scalar dark matter mass within $48 \le m_S \le 78$ GeV. This result is in excellent agreement with that of W. de Boer et.al. ($50 \sim 100$ GeV). Such kind of dark matter annihilation can account for the observed gamma rays excess ($10\sigma$) at EGRET for energies above 1 GeV in comparison with the expectations from conventional Galactic models. We also investigate other phenomenological consequences of this model. For example, the Higgs boson decays dominantly into scalar cold dark matter if its mass lies within $48 \sim 64$ GeV.

Abstract: Higgs boson may serve as a portal to new physics beyond the standard model (BSM) which is implied by theoretical naturalness or experimental anomalies. In this note we briefly survey some Higgs-related BSM physics models, including the low energy SUSY (focusing on the minimal SUSY model), the little Higgs models, the two-Higgs-doublet models and the simplest singlet extensions of the Higgs sector. For each illustrated BSM model, we emphatically elucidate its phenomenological power in explaining current measurements of the muon g-2, the W-boson mass and the dark matter. For the singlet extensions like the xSM and 2HDM+S, we discuss the induced cosmic phase transition and the dark matter relic density as well as the vacuum stability. Finally, we give an outlook.

Light states in real multi-Higgs models with spontaneous CP violation

Abstract:In models with extended scalar sectors consisting of multiple Higgs doublets that trigger spontaneous electroweak symmetry breaking, it might be expected that the abundance of dimensionful quadratic couplings in the scalar potential could allow for a regime where, apart from the would-be Goldstone bosons and a neutral Higgs-like state, all new scalars have masses much larger than the electroweak scale. In the case of models where CP invariance holds at the lagrangian level but is broken by the vacuum, we show that such a reasonable expectation does not hold. When perturbativity requirements are placed on the dimensionless quartic couplings, the spectrum of the new scalars includes one charged and two additional neutral states whose masses cannot be much larger than the electroweak scale.

Abstract:Dipole operator s¯σμνFμνb requires the helicity flip in the involving quark states thus the breaking of chiral U(3)Q×U(3)d. On the other hand, the b quark mass generation is also a consequence of chiral U(3)Q×U(3)d symmetry breaking. Therefore, in many models, there might be strong correlation between the b→sγ and b quark Yukawa coupling. In this Letter, we use non-decoupling MSSM model to illustrate this feature. In the scenario, the light Higgs boson may evade the direct search experiments at LEPII or Tevatron while the 125 GeV Higgs-like boson is identified as the heavy Higgs boson in the spectrum. A light charged Higgs is close to the heavy Higgs boson which is of 125 GeV and its contribution to b→sγ requires large supersymmetric correction with large PQ and R-symmetry breaking. The large supersymmetric contribution at the same time significantly modifies the b quark Yukawa coupling. With combined flavor constraints B→Xsγ and Bs→μ+μ− and direct constraints on Higgs properties, we find best fit scenarios with light stop of O(500GeV), negative At around −750GeV and large μ-term of 2–3 TeV. In addition, reduction in bb¯ partial width may also result in large enhancement of ττ decay branching fraction. Large parameter region in the survival space under all bounds may be further constrained by H→ττ if no excess of ττ is confirmed at LHC. We only identify a small parameter region with significant H→hh decay that is consistent with all bounds and reduced ττ decay branching fraction. In the end, if current dark matter mostly consists of neutralino, direct detection experiments like XENON100 also puts stringent bound over this scenario with light Higgs bosons. The light stops which are required by flavor constraints can further enhance the scattering cross section.

Abstract:In this work, we investigate the viability of a light Higgs ($\eta$) scenario in the Georgi-Machacek (GM) model, where we consider all theoretical and experimental constraints such as the perturbativity, vacuum stability, unitarity, electroweak precision tests, the Higgs di-photon and undetermined decays and the Higgs total decay width. In addition, we consider more recent experimental bounds from the searches for doubly-charged Higgs bosons in the VBF channel $H_{5}^{++}\rightarrow W^{+}W^{+}$, Drell-Yan production of a neutral Higgs boson $pp\rightarrow H_{5}^{0}(\gamma\gamma)H_{5}^{+}$, and for the light scalars at LEP $e^{-}e^{+}\rightarrow Z\eta$, and at ATLAS and CMS in different final states such as $pp\rightarrow\eta\rightarrow2\gamma$ and $pp\rightarrow h\rightarrow\eta\eta\rightarrow4\gamma,2\mu2\tau,2\mu2b,2\tau2b$. By combining these bounds together, we found a parameter space region that is significant as the case of the SM-like Higgs to be the light CP-even eigenstate, and this part of the parameter space would be tightened by the coming analyses.

Abstract:The new measurement of W -boson mass by the CDF collaboration revealed a remarkable 7σ disagreement with the Standard Model (SM) prediction. If confirmed by other experiments, then the disagreement strongly indicates the existence of new physics beyond the SM. In this work, seven vectorlike quark (VLQ) extensions of the SM are investigated to interpret the anomaly, and it is found that three can explain the anomaly in broad parameter space. The explanations are consistent with the constraints from oblique parameters, the LHC search for VLQs, the measurements of the properties for the top quark, bottom quark, and Higgs boson, and the perturbativity criterion. The typical size of the involved Yukawa coupling is around 1, which is comparable to the top quark Yukawa coupling in the SM. Light Higgs Mass Bound in Supersymmetric Left-Right Models

Abstract:We show that in supersymmetric left-right models (SUSYLR), the upper bound on the lightest neutral Higgs mass can be appreciably higher than that in the minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM). The exact magnitude of the bound depends on the scale of parity restoration and can be 10-20 GeV above the MSSM bound if the mass of the right-handed W-R is in the TeV range. An important implication of our result is that since SUSYLR models provide a simple realization of the seesaw mechanism for neutrino masses, measurement of the Higgs boson mass could provide an independent probe of a low seesaw scale.

Abstract:Charged lepton flavor violation (CLFV) represents a clear new physics (NP) signal beyond the standard model (SM). In this work, we investigate CLFV processes lj−→li−γ utilizing mass insertion approximation (MIA) in the minimal supersymmetric extension of the SM with local B−L gauge symmetry ( B−L SSM). The MIA method can provide a set of simple analytic formulas for the form factors and the associated effective vertices, so that the movement of the CLFV decays lj−→li−γ with the sensitive parameters will be intuitively analyzed.
