With κ_1=4 the relatedhadronic parameter r is calculated to be 3.6 ±0.9, and the lifetime ratioτ(Λ_b)/τ(B^0) = 0.83 ±0.04, which is consistent with theexperimental data.

Abstract:Kolya Uraltsev was one of the inventors of the Heavy Quark Expansion (HQE), that describes inclusive weak decays of hadrons containing heavy quarks and in particular lifetimes. Besides giving a pedagogic introduction to the subject, we review the development and the current status of the HQE, which just recently passed several non-trivial experimental tests with an unprecedented precision. In view of many new experimental results for lifetimes of heavy hadrons, we also update several theory predictions: $\tau (B^+) / \tau (B_d) = 1.04^{+0.05}_{-0.01} \pm 0.02 \pm 0.01$, $\tau (B_s) / \tau (B_d) = 1.001 \pm 0.002$, $\tau (\Lambda_b)/ \tau (B_d) = 0.935 \pm 0.054$ and $\bar {\tau} (\Xi_b^0) / \bar{\tau} (\Xi_b^+) = 0.95 \pm 0.06$. The theoretical precision is currently strongly limited by the unknown size of the non-perturbative matrix elements of four-quark operators, which could be determined with lattice simulations.
On the four-quark operator matrix elements for the lifetime of $Λ_{b}$

Abstract:Heavy quark expansion can nicely explain the lifetime of $\Lambda_{b}$. However, there still exist sizable uncertainties from the four-quark operator matrix elements of $\Lambda_{b}$ in $1/m_{b}^{3}$ corrections, which describe the spectator effects. In this work, these four-quark operator matrix elements are investigated using full QCD sum rules for the first time. At the QCD level, contributions from up to dimension-6 four-quark operators are considered. Our method of calculating high-dimensional operator matrix elements is promising to be used to resolve the $\Omega_{c}$ lifetime puzzle.

Abstract:The decay widths of the 0(++) and 1(-+) heavy-light, hybrids to B(D) and pion are calculated by using the QCD sum rules. The interpolated current of the hybrid is chosen as <g(q)over bar>gamma(alpha)G(alpha mu)(a)T(a)h(upsilon)(x). In order to simplify the calculation and avoid the ambiguity of the three-point correlation unction, a two-point correlation function between the pion and vacuum is used instead. The decay width of the 0(++)-->B(D) is about 12(16) MeV, while the 1(-+)-->B(D) is around 0.4(1.8) MeV. We keep the leading-order of 1/M-Q expansion in our calculation for convenience. Study of singly heavy baryon lifetimes

Abstract:We study the inclusive decay widths of singly heavy baryons with the improved bag model in which the unwanted center-of-mass motion is removed. Additional insight is gained by comparing the charmed and bottom baryons. We discuss the running of the baryon matrix elements and compare the results with the non-relativistic quark model (NRQM). While the calculated two-quark operator elements are compatible with the literature, those of the four-quark ones deviate largely. In particular, the heavy quark limit holds reasonably well in the bag model for four-quark operator matrix elements but is badly broken in the NRQM. We predict $1-\tau(\Omega_b)/ \tau(\Lambda_b^0) = (8.34\pm2.22)\%$ in accordance with the current experimental value of $(11.5^{+12.2}_{-11.6})\%$ and compatible with $(13.2\pm 4.7)\%$ obtained in the NRQM. We find an excellent agreement between theory and experiment for the lifetimes of bottom baryons. We confirm that $\Omega_c^0$ could live longer than $\Lambda_c^+$ after the dimension-7 four-quark operators are taken into account. We recommend to measure some semileptonic inclusive branching fractions in the forthcoming experiments to discern different approaches. For example, we obtain ${\cal BF} (\Xi_c^+ \to X e^+ \nu_e) = (8.57\pm 0.49)\% $ and ${\cal BF} (\Omega_c^0 \to X e^+ \nu_e) = (1.88\pm 1.69)\% $ in sharp contrast to ${\cal BF} (\Xi_c^+ \to X e^+ \nu_e) = (12.74^{+2.54}_{-2.45})\% $ and ${\cal BF} (\Omega_c^0 \to X e^+ \nu_e) = (7.59^{+2.49}_{-2.24})\% $ found in the NRQM.

Abstract:We compute by QCD sum rules the matrix elements of the relevant four-quark operators appearing in the expression of the $\Lambda_b$ inclusive decay rates at the order $1/m_b^3$. The results suggest that $1/m_b^3$ corrections are not responsible of the observed difference between the lifetime of $\Lambda_b$ and $B_d$.

Abstract:We test the Gerasimov-Drell-Hearn (GDH) sum rule numerically by calculating the total photon absorption cross sections sigma(1/2) and sigma(3/2) on the nucleon via photon excitation of baryon resonances in the constituent quark model. A total of seventeen, low-lying, non-strange baryon resonances are included in this calculation. The transverse and longitudinal interference cross section, sigma(1/2)(TL), is found to play an important role in the study of the Q(2) variation of the sum rule. The results show that the GDH sum rule is saturated by these resonances at a confidence level of 94%. In particular, the P-33(1232) dominates at small Q(2), The GDH integral has a strong Q(2)-dependence below Q(2) = 1.0 GeV2 and changes its sign around Q(2) = 0.3 GeV2. It becomes weakly Q(2)-dependent for Q(2) > 1.0 GeV2 because of the quick decline of the resonance contributions. (C) 1998 Published by Elsevier Science B.V.

Abstract:Decay Widths of B 1 and B * 2 to the order O(1/m Q) in HQET Abstract We first improve the previous results on the masses of the doublets (0 + , 1 +) and (1 + , 2 +) with QCD sum rules up to the order of O(1/m Q) in HQET. With the mass matrix of the two 1 + states, we obtain the mixing angle for the two states and construct the interpolating currents which couple to only one of the two eigen states up to the order O(1/m Q). Using these results we derive the light-cone sum rules for the amplitutes of the pionic decay of B 1 and B * 2 up to the order O(1/m Q) in HQET. The O(1/m Q) terms in these amplitutes are found to be small. When applied to D 1 and D * 2 the theoretical results are in good agreement with experimental data though the theoretical uncertainty is sizable for the D system. 1 Introduction Important progress has been achieved in understanding the properties of heavy mesons composed of a heavy quark and a light quark with the development of the heavy quark effective theory (HQET) [1]. HQET provides a systematic expansion of the heavy hadron spectra and transition amplitude in terms of 1/m Q , where m Q is the heavy quark mass. Of course one has to employ some specific nonperturbative methods to arrive at the detailed predictions. Among the various nonpeturbative methods, QCD sum rules is useful to extract the low-lying hadron properties [2]. The propertes of the ground state heavy mesons have been studied with the QCD sum rules in HQET in [3], [6]. In [4] the mass of the lowest excited heavy meson doublets (2 + , 1 +) and (1 + , 0 +) were studied with QCD sum rules in the heavy quark effective theory (HQET) up to the order of O(1/m Q). The widths for pionic decays of the lowest two excited doublets (2 + , 1 +) and (1 + , 0 +) is calculated with conventional QCD sum rules in the leading order of HQET in [5]. Abstract:The long B lifetime is related to the heaviness of the top quark by a particular mass-mixing ansatz. The u-type quark mass matrix is of the Fritzsch form, while for the d type it is diagonal except in the d-s plane, which generates the Cabibbo rotation. We predict ${m}_{t}$\ensuremath{\gtrsim}200 GeV from ${V}_{\mathrm{cb}}$\ensuremath{\lesssim}0.06. One gets ``maximal CP violation,'' and the relations \ensuremath{\Vert}${V}_{\mathrm{ub}}$/${V}_{\mathrm{cb}}$\ensuremath{\Vert}= \ensuremath{\surd}${m}_{u}$/${m}_{c}$ , \ensuremath{\Vert}${V}_{\mathrm{td}}$/${V}_{\mathrm{cb}}$\ensuremath{\Vert}= \ensuremath{\surd}${m}_{d}$/${m}_{s}$ , and \ensuremath{\Vert}${V}_{\mathrm{ts}}$\ensuremath{\Vert}=\ensuremath{\Vert}${V}_{\mathrm{cb}}$\ensuremath{\Vert} are close to exact. An interesting Wolfenstein pattern emerges. We discuss the viability and implications of having such a heavy top quark (such as lower ${M}_{Z}$), and the possibility of a vanishing ${V}_{\mathrm{ub}}$ and its impact on CP violation.
Determination of the Scalar Glueball Mass in QCD Sum Rules

Abstract:The 0(++) glueball mass is analyzed in the QCD sum rules. We show that in order to determine the 0(++) glueball mass by using the QCD sum rules method, it is necessary to clarify the following three ingredients: (1) to choose the appropriate moment with acceptable parameters which satisfy all of the criteria; (2) to take into account the radiative corrections; (3) to estimate an additional contribution to the glueball mass from the lowest lying (q) over bar q resonance. We conclude that the key point is to choose suitable moments to determine the 0(++) glueball mass; the radiative corrections do not affect it sensitively and the composite resonance has little effect on it. Abstract:We study the exotic $J^{PC}=0^{--}$ four-quark states in Laplace sum rules (LSR) and finite energy sum rules (FESR). We use the vector tetraquark-like currents as interpolating currents in the correlator, from which the $1^{+-}$ states are also studied. In the mass extraction, we use the standard stability criterion with respect to the Borel parameters and the QCD continuum thresholds and consider the effect of the violation of factorization in estimating the high dimensional condensates as a source of uncertainties. The obtained mass prediction $1.66\pm0.14$ GeV is much lower than the previous sum rule predictions obtained using the scalar currents. Our result favours the four-quark interpretation of the possible $\rho\pi$ dominance in the $D^0$ decay. We also discuss the possible decay patterns of these exotic four-quark states.

Abstract:We consider the Heavy Quark Expansion (HQE) for the nonleptonic decay rates of heavy hadrons, and compute the NLO QCD corrections to power terms up to order $1/m_Q^2$. We neglect the masses of the final-state quarks, so the application of our result is mainly for charmed hadrons. Our result can be applied also to bottomed hadrons as they constitute the main effect to this order up to corrections of $\mathcal{O}(m_c/m_b)$ and contributions due to penguin operators. We discuss the impact of our result for the lifetimes of heavy hadrons.

Abstract:Over the last decade, conflicting values of the hypertriton ${}_{\Lambda}^3\mathrm{H}$ lifetime $\tau({}_{\Lambda}^3\mathrm{H})$ were extracted from relativistic heavy-ion (RHI) collision experiments, ranging from values compatible with the free-$\Lambda$ lifetime $\tau_\Lambda$-as expected naively for a very weakly bound $\Lambda$ in ${}_{\Lambda}^3\mathrm{H}$-to lifetimes as short as $\tau({}_{\Lambda}^3\mathrm{H}) \approx (0.4-0.7)\,\tau_\Lambda$. In a recent work [Phys. Lett. B 811, 135916 (2020)] we studied this ${}_{\Lambda}^3\mathrm{H}$ lifetime puzzle theoretically using realistic three-body ${}_{\Lambda}^3\mathrm{H}$ and ${}^3\mathrm{He}$ wave functions computed within the ab initio no-core shell model approach with interactions derived from chiral effective field theory. In particular, $\tau({}_{\Lambda}^3\mathrm{H})$ was found to be strongly correlated with the $\Lambda$ separation energy $B_\Lambda$ in ${}_{\Lambda}^3\mathrm{H}$, the value of which is rather poorly known experimentally and, in addition, is known to suffer from sizable theoretical uncertainties inherent in the employed nuclear and hypernuclear interaction models. In the present work we find that these uncertainties propagate into $\tau({}_{\Lambda}^3\mathrm{H})$, and thus limit considerably the theoretical precision of its computed value. Although none of the conflicting RHI measured $\tau({}_{\Lambda}^3\mathrm{H})$ values can be excluded, but rather can be attributed to a poor knowledge of $B_\Lambda$, we note the good agreement between the lifetime value $\tau({}_{\Lambda}^3\mathrm{H})=238(27)$ ps computed at the lowest value $B_\Lambda=66$ keV reached by us and the very recent ALICE measured lifetime value $\tau^{\mathrm{ALICE}}({}_{\Lambda}^3\mathrm{H})=253(11)(6)$ ps associated with the ALICE measured $B_\Lambda$ value $B^{\mathrm{ALICE}}_\Lambda=102(63)(67)$ keV [Phys. Rev. Lett. 131, 102302 (2023)].

Abstract:The most precise measurements to date of the $^{3}_{\Lambda}\mathrm H$ lifetime $\tau$ and $\Lambda$ separation energy ${\rm B}_{\Lambda}$ are obtained using the data sample of Pb-Pb collisions at $\sqrt{s_{\mathrm{NN}}}=$ 5.02 TeV collected by ALICE at the LHC. The $^{3}_{\Lambda}\mathrm H$ is reconstructed via its charged two-body mesonic decay channel ($^{3}_{\Lambda}\mathrm{H} \rightarrow$ $^3$He + $\pi^-$ and the charge-conjugate process). The measured values $\tau = [253 \pm 11 \text{ (stat.)} \pm 6 \text{ (syst.)}]$ ps and ${\rm B}_{\Lambda}= [102 \pm 63 \text{ (stat.)} \pm 67 \text{ (syst.)}]$ keV are compatible with predictions from effective field theories and confirm that the $^{3}_{\Lambda}\mathrm H$ structure is consistent with a weakly-bound system.
