Abstract:N6‐methyladenosine (m6A) modification, a prevalent and reversible epigenetic modification in eukaryotic mRNA, has emerged as a crucial regulator in various biological processes. Recent studies have shed light on the significant role of m6A modification in female reproductive development and its related diseases. This review aims to summarize the current understanding of m6A modification in female reproductive tissues, including its dynamic regulation and functional importance in ovarian development, oocyte maturation, and embryo development. Furthermore, we discuss the involvement of m6A modification in the pathogenesis of reproductive diseases such as polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), premature ovarian failure (POF), and endometriosis, highlighting potential molecular mechanisms and therapeutic targets. By providing a comprehensive overview of m6A modification in female reproductive health, this review underscores the importance of further research in this field to develop innovative strategies for diagnosis and treatment of reproductive disorders.
