Abstract:Towards high performance advanced state-steady operation regimes, fast-ion related physical issues become crucial for achieving scientific objectives on EAST. Compared with typical long pulse H-mode discharge with βp~1.2 (H98, y2~1.1) by RF-only, NBI and RF plasmas has a higher βp ~2.0 (H98, y2~1.25), but bootstrap current fraction is less than 30% in both of case when density is operated at 3.0-3.5×10m, TRANSP analysis shows that it is mostly due to fast ions in NBI plasmas, and fast ions do not contribute significantly to fBS. To obtain high performance fully non-inductive plasma and improve confinement and transport on EAST, related parameters (e.g. density, beam energy, etc.) have been optimized further to reduce the fast ion slowing down time and prompt loss. Experimental results show that prompt loss from counter beams is large and can be reduced by decreasing beam voltage and increasing density, which is consistent with simulations. Recently, fully non-inductive high-β scenarios with NBI have demonstrated at high density fGW~0.6-0.8, in which fBS is up to 50% with H98y2>1.1, it is very helpful to understand energetic particle physics in long pulse H-mode plasmas on EAST and contributes to ITER.
