Abstract:The effect of knowledge about the distribution of information on knowledge transfer was examined to understand why some organizations are able to benefit from personnel mobility while others are not. The authors proposed that shared context moderated the effect of knowledge about distributed information on knowledge transfer, particularly the information pooling process. The hypotheses were tested in an experimental condition (N = 240). As predicted, knowledge of distributed information interacted with shared context to affect knowledge transfer. Two mediated moderation effects help explain this finding. Shared context moderated the effect of knowledge about distributed information with information pooling, which in turn was positively associated with group performance. Moreover, information sharing partly mediated the interactive effect of knowledge of distributed information with shared context.

Abstract:Knowledge is a crucial resource in developing sustainable competitive advantage for a firm. This paper examines the impact of knowledge characteristics and knowledge transfer mechanisms on implication of performance. Building on a dynamic perspective, we develop three proportions to indicate the relationship. These results show that knowledge differs in characteristics and so do the available transfer mechanism. There is a fit between the mechanism of transfer and the specific knowledge characteristics. And the misfit patterns may cause loss of knowledge in the process of transmission or may involve unnecessarily high communication costs, this can impair the performance of the organization.

Abstract:This article investigates effects of network tie and organizational learning capacity on knowledge diffusion through focal firms in industrial cluster. Results show that: the strength of network tie to be a direct driving force in knowledge diffusion through focal firms while organizational learning capacity is also directly involved in pushing the process along. This conclusion is supported by an analysis of a multi-case study.

Abstract:This study explores how individual level and team level social capital characteristics manifest their joint influence on knowledge transfer, considering team social capital as a moderator between individual social capital and knowledge transfer. Situated in a post-training context, a survey of 390 individuals from 30 teams in a Chinese bank was conducted. Our results revealed that team social capital interacted with individual social capital in influencing knowledge transfer. At the individual level, distance and structural equivalence between the knowledge seeker and the knowledge source influenced how much knowledge was transferred between them. Furthermore, team network density mitigated the negative effect of distance on knowledge transfer, and team learning culture reduced the positive effect of structural equivalence on knowledge transfer. Theoretical implications based on the findings are drawn.

Abstract:This paper aims to model the mechanism of knowledge transfer within an inter-firm network. An agent-based simulation model was established to examine the non-linear behavior and the determinant factors of knowledge transfer. Factors such as network size, tie density and link creation rules are included in the model. Eight scenarios were experimented to investigate the impacts of different factors on knowledge transfer performance. The results show that initial network size and link creation rules have significant influence on dynamics of inter-firm network knowledge systems, especially on network structure evolution.

Abstract:Based on the clearly definition of ERP implementation and prior knowledge transfer theory,especially carefully reviewed Dong-Gil's thesis on determinations of knowledge transfer in ERP implementation,the paper constructed factors affecting ERP knowledge transfer model.The paper analyzes from four constructs: the characteristic of knowledge to be transferred,the characteristic of source,the characteristic of recipient,and the characteristic of transfer context.With field interview with fourteen corperations and questionnaires from thirty one ERP implementation projects,the paper analyzes data with ANOVA and hierarchical multiple regression in spss 13.0.In contrast with Dong-Gil's study,the paper tries to find out the differences in factors affecting ERP knowledge trasnfer in China corporations' ERP implementation context.

Abstract:This paper constructs a model on the factors that influence knowledge transfer in mergers and acquisitions（M＆A）and validates it via questionnaire surveys.Using 125valid collected questionnaires,multiple linear regression analysis and hierarchical regression analysis showed that five out of the ten factors had a positive effect on knowledge transfer effect.The ranking of factor importance,from high to low,was knowledge explicitness,relationship quality,learning intent,advanced transfer activities,and learning capability,which is fairly consistent with positive factors observed in other interorganizational knowledge transfer researches.Our results also showed that one of the control variables（size of acquired firm）had neither a direct or indirect effect on knowledge transfer in M＆A.Additionally,our research found that knowledge distance and degree of M＆A integration had a positive influence on knowledge transfer effect at the early stage after M＆A,but had a negative influence at the late stage.Based on this research,several suggestions for knowledge transfer in M＆A are proposed.

Abstract:The most important factor embarrassing knowledge transfer is the individual's behavior to take the knowledge as private assets, which has been entitled as the social dilemma in knowledge sharing.The organizational economists and organizational theorists have all direct their eyes on this topic.Some researchers have endeavored to integrate those two branches that it has been new direction in knowledge manage- ment research field.The issue can be thought as a new approach.The authors argue that general knowledge and specific knowledge can be considered as the nature property,private goods and public goods can be considered as the societal property.The organization must make tradeoff on these two dimensions of knowledge to flexibly design incentive plan consists of different incentive instrument to motivate individual effi- ciently to weaken the sticky degree of knowledge in transferring.This research offers us a possible empirical research framework on incentives in knowledge transfer approach.

Abstract:The global value chains has provided an express for the enterprises in developing countries to obtain technology and knowledge to improve their innovative abilities.Nevertheless,during the transfer process,the knowledge transfer has been not fully successful as affected by various factors.On the basis of the captive type of global value chains,the mechanism of knowledge transfer from the global leadership to local firm in global value chains is examined.And starting from the effectiveness of knowledge transfer,the involving factors in the process of knowledge transfer,this paper presents a model of the influential factor of knowledge transfer in global value chains.According to the model,the paper analyzes the influence including the transferable capacity of the lead enterprises,the absorption capacity of the local enterprises,the knowledge transfer platform and the traits of the knowledge itself.

Abstract:Purpose This paper aims to employ social cognitive theory (SCT) as a theoretical framework to investigate the influencing factors affecting the knowledge transfer effectiveness of construction workers in China. The mediating role of their knowledge transfer willingness is also assessed. Design/methodology/approach A questionnaire on knowledge transfer among Chinese construction workers is designed and subsequently analyzed by structural equation modeling (SEM), with a total sample of 288 construction workers. Findings The SEM results show that the knowledge self-efficiency, blood and geographic relationships, and trust relationship promote knowledge transfer willingness and positively influence the knowledge transfer effectiveness of construction workers. However, the effect of organizational culture on knowledge transfer willingness and effectiveness is nonsignificant. Practical implications The results are conducive to managers and governments formulating strategies to optimize the learning mechanism of construction workers and facilitate their obtaining of resources from the project, thus easing skill shortages and promoting the transformation of construction workers into industrial workers. Originality/value This paper innovatively proposes blood and geographic relationships as research variables, expanding their scope. Furthermore, SCT is applied to enable future research to better understand individual knowledge transfer behavior from both personal and environmental perspectives.

Abstract:In order to explore the influence of inter-firm network attributes on knowledge transfer performance, a multi-agent simulation model was established. Results of the computerized simulation were analyzed statistically. Data analysis confirmed that network scale, network stability, and the initial network density have positive impact on inter-firm knowledge transfer performance, and the existent differences of proximity between firms may affect the influence of network attributes on knowledge transfer.

Abstract:Based on the perspective of social network, the author summarize the impacting factors of inter-enterprise knowledge transfer as characteristics of network, characteristics of knowledge to be transferred, characteristics of knowledge-source enterprise and characteristics of knowledge-receiving enterprise. We especially argue that characteristics of network do not influence the effect of knowledge transfer directly. However, they influence the effect of knowledge transfer through enhancing the motivation and transfer capacity of both the source enterprise and the receiving enterprise. The characteristics of network play a moderating role on the effect of the characteristics of knowledge on knowledge transfer.

Abstract:To identify the influencing factors and internal mechanism of knowledge transfer among prefabricated construction workers (PCWs), this study constructs a knowledge transfer behavior model for PCWs from various perspectives, including behavioral attitude, subjective norms, physiological perceived control, behavioral habits, and behavioral intention based on a modified Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB). It also employs a Structural Equation Model (SEM) for hypothesis validation and utilizes System Dynamics (SD) to simulate the knowledge transfer process of PCWs. Through empirical and simulation research, three conclusions are drawn: (1) Knowledge transfer willingness has a promoting effect on knowledge transfer behaviors. (2) Trusted relationships, organizational culture, physiological perceived control, and behavioral habits all have a promoting effect on workers' knowledge transfer willingness and subsequently promote their knowledge transfer behaviors. (3) Among these factors, the strength of knowledge transfer willingness has the most significant impact on workers' behavioral habits, followed by trusted relationships, physiological perceived control, and organizational culture. Additionally, when comparing the results of this study with knowledge transfer influencing factors of traditional construction workers (TCWs), it is found that trusted relationships and self-efficacy have a promoting effect on the knowledge transfer willingness of PCWs as well as TCWs. However, the impact of organizational culture, environmental perception, and behavioral habits on the knowledge transfer willingness of PCWs is more pronounced compared to TCWs. Based on TPB, this study constructs a suitable theoretical model to analyze the knowledge transfer process of PCWs by mining their group characteristics, and the research results establish a systematic analysis framework for the study of knowledge transfer behavior of PCWs. It also provides scientific suggestions for the formulation of targeted measures to enhance the willingness and efficiency of knowledge transfer of PCWs.

Abstract:Purpose Despite the knowledge transfer in project contexts which has been extensively studied by scholars, the study on inter-organizational knowledge transfer in international construction projects is still scattered and unsystematic. This research aims to explore the key factors influencing inter-organizational knowledge transfer of international construction projects and analyze how these factors interact to create a synthetic framework that enhances the effectiveness of knowledge transfer (EKT). Design/methodology/approach At first, eight factors influencing inter-organizational knowledge transfer within international construction projects were identified, which were from the four dimensions of subject, relationship, channel and context, namely cultural distance, connection strength, organizational climate, intercultural competence, information technology capability, transmit willingness, receive willingness and richness of transfer channels. Then, a conceptual model was developed and 13 hypotheses were formulated, which were derived from a literature review and in-depth survey. After that, data from 353 respondents were collected and analyzed, and the hypotheses were tested by structural equation modeling analysis and bootstrapping test. Findings The results suggest that cultural distance hinders transfer willingness, which further affects EKT. Connection strength affects EKT by positively influencing transfer willingness and channel. Besides, organizational climate and intercultural competence positively influence transfer willingness and further affect EKT, while information technology capability affects the richness of transfer channels. Originality/value This research gives a thorough examination of the determinants influencing inter-organizational knowledge transfer of international construction projects, thus formulating available approaches that project managers and personnel can employ to effectively facilitate EKT.
