Abstract:Nowadays, the impacts of tourism industry on environment and climate attracts more attention of international organizations and societies in pace with rapid development of tourism industry. The emission of carbon dioxide in tourism industry is the main factor of tourism industry impacting on the environment, so the emission of carbon dioxide in tourism industry becomes a hot topic in academic research. It is well known as its beautiful environment that the tourism industry development in Hainan province. Tourism industry plays a major role in the development of economy in Hainan province, so it is important to research the emission of carbon dioxide in the development of economy. The research of measuring carbon emissions in tourism industry has been an unsolved problem. This paper adopts "Bottom-up" approach based on literature research and mathematical statistics technology; it is applied to estimate the energy consumption and CO2 emission of Hainan province according to the data from Hainan Statistical Bureau and others. The results show that tourism is the industry of low-carbon and the leading industry coping with global climate change, energy-saving and CO2 emission reduction. Based on this, the authors hold that tourism should become an important field in low-carbon economy. This paper also uses the grey system theory and GM (1, 1) model to forecast the emission of carbon dioxide in Hainan province, and gets good results.
