Abstract:We report here a Cu-catalyzed enantioselective acyloxylation of cyclic diaryliodonium salts. With readily available cyclic diaryliodonium salts and ubiquitous aliphatic or (hetero)aromatic carboxylic acids as the starting materials, various axially chiral acyloxylated 2-iodobiaryls were prepared in excellent yield and with excellent enantioselectivity (mostly 99% yield and 99% ee). Density functional theory calculations were conducted to reveal the stereo- and regioselectivities. This simple reaction protocol can be employed for the late-stage modification of some drug molecules. Finally, by diversity-oriented transformations, these acyloxylated 2-iodobiaryl products can be easily transformed into diverse valuable functionalized biaryls that could be used as chiral ligands or functional materials.

Abstract:Herein,an organocatalytic enantioselective desymmetrizing hydroalkoxylationof 1,4- and 1,8-diynes is disclosed, which represents a unique chiralBronsted acid-catalyzed desymmetrization of diynes. This protocolprovides a facile and practical access to enantioenriched 1,3-diaminopropanolderivatives and & gamma;-butyrolactones with a wide substrate scopeand generally high enantioselectivities. Besides, the backbones ofthese products constitute the structural core of numerous bioactivemolecules, and they can serve as valuable precursors for the expeditiousassembly of versatile N- and O-heterocycles. Moreover, control experimentsand theoretical calculations are employed to confirm the mechanisticrationale and elucidate the origin of enantioinduction.

Abstract:In the past two decades, substantial advances have been made on the asymmetric alkyne functionalization by the activation of inert alkynes. However, these asymmetric transformations have so far been mostly limited to transition metal catalysis, and chiral Bronsted acid-catalyzed examples are rarely explored. Here, we report a chiral Bronsted acid-catalyzed dearomatization reaction of phenol- and indole-tethered homopropargyl amines, allowing the practical and atom-economical synthesis of a diverse array of valuable fused polycyclic enones and indolines bearing a chiral quaternary carbon stereocenter and two contiguous stereogenic centers in moderate to good yields with excellent diastereoselectivities and generally excellent enantioselectivities (up to >99% enantiomeric excess). This protocol demonstrates Bronsted acid-catalyzed asymmetric dearomatizations via vinylidene-quinone methides.

Abstract:Facile construction of 1,3-dienes building upon cross-electrophile coupling of two open-chain vinyl halides is disclosed in this work, showing moderate chemoselectivities between the terminal bromoalkenes and internal vinyl bromides. Abstract:A new iron-catalyzed diastereoselective aminobromination method is reported for both internal and terminal olefins (yield up to 90% and dr up to >20:1). In this transformation, a functionalized hydroxylamine and bromide ion were used as the nitrogen and bromine source, respectively. This method is compatible with a broad range of olefins and provides a convenient approach to synthetically valuable vicinal bromo primary amines. Our studies suggest that both the diastereoselectivity and enantioselectivity for the olefin aminobromination can be controlled by iron catalysts.

Abstract:The novel efficient procedure has been developed for the oxathioacetalization of carbonyl compounds and 2-mercaptoethanol at room temperature under solvent-free condition. The results showed that the novel multi-SO 3 H functionalized ionic liquid was very efficient for the reactions with the good to excellent yields in short time. Operational simplicity, without need of any solvent, room temperature, low cost of the catalyst used, high yields, applicability to large-scale reactions, reusability and chemoselectivity are the key features of this methodology.

Abstract:Functionalized ketene dithioacetals are important intermediates in organic synthesis.α-Functionalization reactions based on them provide potential precursors for the construction of usefully carbo-and heterocyclic compounds.In this paper,a versatileα-bromination of functionalized ketene dithioacetals was developed.In the presence of H2 O,the reactions of functionalized ketene dithioacetals(1) with CuBr 2 in THF at room temperature gave variousα-bromo ketene dithioacetals(2) in excellent yields with high regioselectivities.The mechanism of thisα-bromination is proposed to undergo an addition of bromine formed in situ to compound 1 and sequontial elimination of theα-proton.The simplicity of execution,mild conditions,inexpensive,easily usable brominating agent and high yields,make this synthetic method attractive for practical applications.

Abstract:A series of chiral 1,1'-binaphthyl-2,2'-disulfonic acids was designed, synthesized, and applied in a highly enantioselective Ti-catalyzed intramolecular hydroalkoxylation of nonactivated alkenes. The catalyst is probably a complex between two chiral binaphthyldisulfonate ligands and a bis(mu-oxo)-dititanium(IV) core structure. The sulfonamide groups of the ligands and water are necessary for the catalysis, as they may stabilize the catalytically active complex through hydrogen bonding. Various 2-methylcoumarans were obtained in up to greater than 99% yields and up to 97% enantiomeric excess under mild conditions.

Abstract:A substrate-induced strategy for the bromochlorination and bromoazidation of diverse 1,3-dienes has been reported. This protocol offers straightforward and highly selective access to vicinal or allyl chlorobromides and azidobromides, which are ubiquitous moieties in many natural products and valuable synthetic intermediates. Additionally, a series of transformations of the products were performed to demonstrate their synthetic potential. Furthermore, control experiments were performed to elucidate the mutual conversion pathway between vicinal and allyl chlorobromides. Bromochlorination and bromoazidation of diverse 1,3-dienes to prepare various chlorobromides and azidobromides with high efficiency and selectivity using a general protocol with mild conditions and simple operation.

Abstract:The enantioselective anti- and syn-(borylmethyl)allylation of aldehydes via phosphoric acid catalysis is reported. Both (E)- and (Z)-γ-borylmethyl allylboronate reagents were prepared via the Cu-catalyzed highly stereoselective protoboration of 1,3-dienylboronate. Chiral phosphoric acid-catalyzed aldehyde allylation with either the (E)- or (Z)-allylboron reagent provided 1,2-anti- or 1,2-syn-adducts in good yields with high enantioselectivities. Abstract:Chiral alpha- and beta-aminoboronic acids exhibit unique biological activities. General methods for the synthesis of these bioisosteres of amino acids are highly desirable. We report a facile preparation of these compounds through rhodium-catalyzed regiodivergent and enantioselective hydroboration of enamides. Catalytic asymmetric synthesis of alpha- and beta-aminoboronic esters with high regio-, diastereo-, and enantioselectivities were achieved through effective catalyst control and tuning substrate geometry. Starting from easily available materials, this strategy provides a unified synthetic access to both enantioenriched alpha-boration and beta-boration products. The synthetic utility of these methods was demonstrated by efficient synthesis of an anticancer drug molecule and diverse transformations of the boration products.

Abstract:A facile one-pot synthesis of functionalized (E)-β -arylvinyl bromides bearing various 4-alkoxycarbonyl and 4-aryloxycarbonyl groups was achieved by debrominative decarboxylation of anti-2,3- dibromo-3-(4-carboxyphenyl)propanoic acid in the presence of AgOAc and subsequent esterification in the presence of dicyclohexyl carbodiimide and dimethylaminopyridine. This method gives (E)-β - arylvinyl bromides in high stereoselectivities and high yields, and tolerates aldehyde, ester, and nitro functional groups.

Abstract:We report herein the development of α-borylmethyl-(Z)-crotylboronate reagent and the application in highly stereo- and enantioselective syntheses of (E)-δ-hydroxymethyl-syn-homoallylic alcohols. Starting from 1,4-pentadiene, α-borylmethyl-(Z)-crotylboronate was synthesized in two steps with high Z-selectivity and enantioselectivity. Subsequent aldehyde allylboration with the developed boron reagent gave highly enantioenriched (E)-δ-hydroxymethyl-syn-homoallylic alcohols upon oxidative workup.

Abstract:A series of planar chiral iodoarenes based on [2.2]paracyclophane was synthesized. An efficient asymmetric intramolecular oxidative lactonization of naphthols enabled by a combination of these chiral iodoarenes and m CPBA as oxidant is reported. This reaction proceeds under mild conditions, allowing the formation of spirolactones bearing a tetrasubstituted stereocenter in moderate yields and good enantioselectivity.

Abstract:Herein, an unprecedented non-noble-metal-catalyzed oxidation/cyclization of ene-ynamides is developed, allowing the synthesis of diversely functionalized lactams in moderate to good yields with excellent diastereoselectivities without the observation of typical cyclopropanation products. In combination with Ellman's tert-butylsulfinimine chemistry, chiral γ-lactams containing three contiguous stereocenters are obtained with high diastereo- and enantioselectivity. Moreover, density functional theory (DFT) calculations indicate that this protocol probably undergoes a carbon cation or proton transfer process.

Abstract:The catalytic enantioselective desymmetrizing bromoaminocyclization of prochiral cyclohexa-1,4-dienes has been achieved by using chiral anion phase-transfer catalysis, providing a range of enantioenriched cis-3a-arylhydroindoles bearing an all-carbon quaternary stereocenter in good yields (up to 78%) and excellent enantioselectivities (up to 97% ee). Abstract:Reported here is a highly efficient Pd/Xiang-Phos catalyzed enantioselective carboetherification of alkenyl oximes with either aryl or alkenyl halides, delivering various chiral 3,5-disubstituted and 3,5,5-trisubstituted isoxazolines in good yields with up to 97 % ee. The sterically bulky and electron-rich (S,Rs)-NMe-X2 ligand is responsible for the excellent reactivities and enantioselectivities. The salient features of this transformation include mild reaction conditions, general substrate scope, good functional-group tolerance, good yields, high enantioselectivities, easy scale-up, and application in the late-stage modification of bioactive compounds. The obtained products can be readily transformed into useful chiral 1,3-aminoalcohols.
