Abstract:Treatment of cis-[Pt(NH3)2(tBuCN)2](ClO4)2 (1) by 2 equiv. of NaOH in water resulted in the formation of cis-[Pt(NH3)2(NHCOtBu)2]·2H2O (2). The dinuclear complexes, cis-[Pt(NH3)2(NHCOtBu)2Pt(cod)](ClO4)2 (3); cis-[Pt(NH3)2(NHCOtBu)2Pt(dmso)2](NO3)2·0.5H2O (5); cis-[Pt(NH3)2(NHCOtBu)2PtCl(dmso)](ClO4)·H2O (6); cis-[Pt(NH3)2(NHCOtBu)2Pd(NH3)2](ClO4)2 (7) consist of cis-PtII(NH3)2 and cis-MIILL′ moieties bridged by two pivalamidate have been prepared by reacting 2 and corresponding cis-PtIILL′ and cis-PdII(NH3)2 moieties in water. They are characterized by 1H, and 195Pt NMR spectra, elemental analysis, and their structures are determined by X-ray crystallography. Crystal data: 2, monoclinic, P21/c, Z=5, a=9.220(2) Å, b=24.916(6) Å, c=7.8843(19) Å, β=91.384(5)°; 3, monoclinic, P21/c, Z=4, a=10.1450(19) Å, b=26.978(5) Å, c=11.859(2) Å, β=100.705(4)°; 5, triclinic, P1̄, Z=2, a=11.225(7) Å, b=15.271(9) Å, c=18.222(11) Å, α=93.760(11)°, β=104.401(11)°, γ=102.623(11)°; 6, triclinic, P1̄, Z=2, a=7.4909(6) Å, b=10.7852(9) Å, c=16.7049(14) Å, α=85.8220(10)°, β=77.067(2)°, γ=73.7720(10)°; 7, monoclinic, P2/c, Z=5, a=14.995(2) Å, b=14.526(2) Å, c=11.7781(19) Å, β=99.967(3)°. The metal–metal distances are in the range of 2.9523–3.1182 Å. The coordination geometry around the Pt and Pd atoms is square-planar, and the two coordination planes within the cations are tilted by 27.43–45.13°. The two amidate ligands are nearly perpendicular to each other. Small 195Pt195Pt coupling is observed for cis-[Pt(NH3)2(NHCOtBu)2Pt(dmso)2]2+ (JPtPt=809.2 Hz) in 5 and cis-[Pt(NH3)2(NHCOtBu)2PtCl(dmso)]+ (JPtPt=1011.5 Hz) in 6. Such coupling between two PtII atoms suggests MM interactions.
