Abstract:In this paper, we introduce the concept of d^∗-spaces. We find that strong d-spaces are d^∗-spaces, but the converse does not hold. We give a characterization for a topological space to be a d^∗-space. We prove that the retract of a d^∗-space is a d^∗-space. We obtain the result that for any T_0 space X and Y, if the function space TOP(X,Y) endowed with the Isbell topology is a d^∗-space, then Y is a d^∗-space. We also show that for any T_0 space X, if the Smyth power space Q_v(X) is a d^∗-space, then X is a d^∗-space. Meanwhile, we give a counterexample to illustrate that conversely, for a d^∗-space X, the Smyth power space Q_v(X) may not be a d^∗-space.

Abstract:We show that if X is a regular (D) over bar -scattered space and X is the union of a finite collection of submetacompact spaces, then X is a D-space, where (D) over bar is the class of all D-spaces, hence X is a D-space if X is the union of a finite collection of submetacompact C-scattered spaces, where C is the class of all compact spaces. This gives a positive answer to a question mentioned by Martinez [J.C. Martinez, On finite unions and finite products with the D-property, Topology Appl. 158 (2) (2011) 223-228].In the second part of this note, we show that the product of a finite collection of regular weak (theta) over bar -refinable (or (sub)metacompact) C-scattered spaces and a Lindelof D-space is a D-space. In the last part of this note, we show that if X is a regular meta-Lindelof (D) over bar -scattered space with locally countable extent, then X is a D-space. As a corollary, every meta-Lindelof locally compact Hausdorff space is a D-space. (C) 2011 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Abstract:The authors' primary goal in this paper is to enhance the study of topological spaces by using the order of specialization of a -space to introduce the lower topology (with a subbasis of closed sets ) and studying the interaction of the original topology and the lower topology. Using the lower topology, one can define and study new properties of the original space that provide deeper insight into its structure. One focus of study is the property R, which asserts that if the intersection of a family of finitely generated sets , finite, is contained in an open set , then the same is true for finitely many of the family. We first show that property R is equivalent to several other interesting properties, for example, the property that all closed subsets of the original space are compact in the lower topology. We then find conditions under which these spaces are compact, well-filtered, and coherent, a weaker variant of stably compact spaces. We also investigate what have been called strong -spaces, develop some of their basic properties, and make connections with the earlier considerations involving spaces satisfying property R. Two key results we obtain are that if a dcpo with the Scott topology is a strong -space, then it is well-filtered, and if additionally the Scott topology of the product is the product of the Scott topologies of the factors, then the Scott space of is sober. We also exhibit connections of this work with de Groot duality.

Abstract:In this paper, we mainly consider the question of when the Isbell and Scott topologies coincide on the set [X -> L] of all continuous mappings from a topological space X to a dcpo L with the pointwise order. The main results are: (1) If L is a weak sober dcpo which is bi-complete, then (i) that the Isbell and Scott topologies coincide on [X -> L] for all c-spaces X implies that L is a pointed L-dcpo; (ii) that the Isbell and Scott topologies coincide on [X -> L] for all irreducible c-spaces X implies that L is an L-dcpo. (2) Let L be a quasicontinuous UBC-domain and X a c-space. If L has a least element or X is connected, then the Isbell and Scott topologies coincide on [X -> L]. (3) Let L be a quasicontinuous UFL-domain and the topological space X = (sic)(i is an element of I) X-i, where every X, is an irreducible Scott c-space and I is a nonempty finite set. If L has a least element or I is a singleton, then the Isbell and Scott topologies coincide on [X -> L].
A Study on D-spaces and the Metrizability of Compact Spaces with Property (Σ-A)

Abstract:In this article, we introduce two notions which are called property (sigma-A) and property (sigma-B). They are generalizations of property (A) and property (B), respectively. Every space with a point-countable base (or sigma-NSR pair-base) satisfies property (sigma-A). Every space with the Collins-Roscoe property satisfies property (sigma-B). We show that every compact Hausdorff space with property (sigma-A) is metrizable. Thus some known conclusions can be generalized. This shows that property (sigma-A) plays a key role in the metrizability of compact Hausdorff spaces. We show that the properties of property (sigma-A) and property (sigma-B) are closed under finite products. Every finite product of T-1-spaces which satisfy property (sigma-B) (property (sigma-A), sigma-sheltering (F), sigma-well-ordered (F)) is hereditarily a D-space. If (X, T) satisfies omega(1)-sheltering (F), then (X, T-omega) is hereditarily a D-space. We show that if a space Xsatisfie s omega(1)-sheltering (F) and every countable discrete subspace of Xis closed, then Xis hereditarily a D-space. This gives a partial answer to a question posed by Z.Q. Feng and J.E. Porter in 2015. We finally give examples to show that there exists a space which has property (sigma-A) but it does not have a point-countable base and there exists a space which has property (C) but it does not have property (sigma-A). Abstract:It is shown that the space Cp(τω) is a D-space for any ordinal number τ, where τω={α⩽τ:cf(α)⩽ω}. This conclusion gives a positive answer to R.Z. Buzyakova's question. We also prove that another special example of Lindelöf space is a D-space. We discuss the D-property of spaces with point-countable weak bases. We prove that if a space X has a point-countable weak base, then X is a D-space. By this conclusion and one of T. Hoshina's conclusion, we have that if X is a countably compact space with a point-countable weak base, then X is a compact metrizable space. In the last part, we show that if a space X is a finite union of θ-refinable spaces, then X is a αD-space.

Abstract:In this paper, we study some properties of s-spaces. By means of the addition theorem and the theory of remainders,the following properties are established: (1)if an s-space X is the union of a countable family of metrizable subspaces,then X is sequential;(2)if G is a non-locally compact topological group with a compactification bG such that Y =bG\G is hereditarily an s-space, then either G is separable and metrizable, or G is σ-compact, which generalize and improve some results about s-spaces by Arhangel'skii.

Abstract:The properties extending S-closed spaces are discussed.It is shown that（1） every semi-open regular subspace of a locally S-closed space is locally S-closed.（2）If A is a regular open subset of X,then A is locally S-closed if and only if A is locally S-closed relative to X.（3） Every T2 minimal-locally-S-closed space is S-closed.

Abstract:Let X be a space and W = {W(x) : x is an element of X}, where each W(x) is a countable family of subsets containing x. If X has W satisfying: if x is an element of U and U is open, then there exists an open V = V(x, U) containing x such that x is an element of W subset of U for some W is an element of W(y) whenever y is an element of V, we say that the space X satisfies the Collins-Roscoe property. For simplicity, we call the Collins-Roscoe property (G) in the paper. A neighborhood assignment for a space X is a function cc from X to the topology of X such that x is an element of (phi(x) for all x is an element of X. A space X is said to be a D-space if for every neighborhood assignment phi for X, there exists a closed discrete subset D of X such that X = U{phi(d) : d is an element of D}. Spaces satisfying (G) are D-spaces. We show the following. (1) The preimage of a (monotone) D-space under a fiber-discrete mapping is a (monotone) D-space. (2) Any uncountable subspace of the Sorgenfrey line and the Alexandroff double arrow space do not satisfy (G); the Niemytzki plane is not meta-Lindelof. (3) A space satisfies (G) if and only if its Alexandroff duplicate does so. (4) A locally separable regular space satisfying open (G) is metrizable; a locally quasi-developable, hereditarily meta-Lindelof space has a point-countable base. (5) The Tychonoff product of a D-space and a D-c-space is a D-space. (6) Let X and Y be linearly ordered spaces and Y have the maximal point and the minimal point and satisfy (G). Abstract:This paper provides a new approach to defining a topology by using irreducible sets from a given To space. This derived topology, called SI2-topology, leads to a weak sobriety and continuity, called delta-sobriety and SI2-continuity, respectively. It is proved that the delta-sober C-spaces are exactly the s(2)-topological spaces on s(2)-continuous posets. Moreover, it turns out that the SI2-topology on a To space can be described completely in terms of convergence, and this convergence structure is topological whenever the given space is SI2-continuous.

Abstract:A topological space (X, tau) is a D-space if for every function phi: X -> tau with x is an element of phi(x) for each x is an element of X, {phi(x) : x is an element of F} covers X for some closed discrete subset F of X. The Michael line M, one of the most important elementary examples in general topology, is the Euclidean space IR isolating the irrationals. In this note we show that (1) the minimal dense linearly ordered extension of M is hereditarily paracompact, but not monotonically D; (2) the minimal closed linearly ordered extension of M is monotonically D; (3) if the space X is a D-space (resp., a monotone D-space), then so is its Alexandroff duplicate space A(X) and thus A(M) is monotonically D.

Abstract:Let X be a space, and P=A:A is a subset of X, and has property P}. A space X is dual the property P if for any neighborhood assignment φ for X, there is a subset A⊂X, A∈P, such that X=∪{φ (x):x∈A}. In this note, we mainly discuss properties of spaces which are dually special P, and also give a necessary and sufficient condition for spaces which are dually special P. These conclusions can be held for many spaces. As a corollary, we have that if X is a regular weak θ̄-refinable (dually discrete)-scattered space, then X is dually discrete. We also get some conclusions conserning aD-spaces.

Abstract:A topological space X has property (DC(omega(1))) if it has a dense subspace every uncountable subset of which has a limit point in X. In this paper, we make some observations on spaces with property (DC(omega(1))). In particular, we prove that the cardinality of a space X with property (DC(omega(1))) does not exceed c if X satisfies one of the following conditions: (1) X is normal and has a rank 2-diagonal; (2) X is perfect and has a rank 2-diagonal; (3) X has a rank 3-diagonal; (4) X is perfect and has countable tightness. We also prove that if X is a regular space with a G(delta)-diagonal and property (DC(omega(1))) then the cardinality of Xis at most 2(c).

Abstract:We prove that for a stratifiable scattered space $X$ of finite scattered height, the function space $C_k(X)$ endowed with the compact-open topology is Baire if and only if $X$ has the Moving Off Property of Gruenhage and Ma. As a byproduct of the proof we establish many interesting Baire category properties of the function spaces $C_k'(X,Y)=\{f\in C_k(X,Y):f(X')\subset\{*_Y\}\}$, where $X$ is a topological space, $X'$ is the set of non-isolated points of $X$, and $Y$ is a topological space with a distinguished point $*_Y$.
Characterizing function spaces which have the property (B) of Banakh

Abstract:A topological space $Y$ has the property (B) of Banakh if there is a countable family $\{A_n:n\in \mathbb{N}\}$ of closed nowhere dense subsets of $Y$ absorbing all compact subsets of $Y$. In this note we show that the space $C_p(X)$ of continuous real-valued functions on a Tychonoff space $X$ with the topology of pointwise convergence, fails to satisfy the property (B) if and only if the space $X$ has the following property $(\kappa)$: every sequence of disjoint finite subsets of $X$ has a subsequence with point--finite open expansion. Additionally, we provide an analogous characterization for the compact--open topology on $C(X)$. Finally, we give examples of Tychonoff spaces $X$ whose all bounded subsets are finite, yet $X$ fails to have the property $(\kappa)$. This answers a question of Tkachuk.

Abstract:The function space plays an indispensable role in investigating the Cartesian closedness of categories of domains. This paper focuses on the quasicontinuity and topological properties of the function spaces associated with quasicontinuous domains. For any quasicontinuous domain P with property M and bounded complete algebraic domain X, it is shown that: (i) the function space [X -> P] is a quasicontinuous domain; especially, a counterexample is given to illustrate that property M is necessary for the quasicontinuity of the function space; (ii) the Isbell topology and Scott topology are equal in the function space [X -> P]. Abstract:In this note, the concept of a linear neighborhood assignment is introduced. By discussing properties of linear D-spaces, we show that if T is a Suslin tree with FW (or CW) topology, then T is a Lindelöf D-space. We also show that if X is a countably compact space and X=⋃{Xn:n∈N}, where for any linear neighborhood assignment ϕn for Xn, there exists a strong DC-like subspace (or a subparacompact C-scattered closed subspace) Dn of Xn, such that Xn=⋃{ϕ(d):d∈Dn} for each n∈N, then X is a compact space; Every generalized ordered space is dually discrete. This gives a positive answer to a question of Buzyakova, Tkachuk and Wilson.

Abstract:The classical theorems of Banach and Stone (1932, 1937), Gelfand and Kolmogorov (1939) and Kaplansky (1947) show that a compact Hausdorff space X is uniquely determined by the linear isometric structure, the algebraic structure, and the lattice structure, respectively, of the space C(X). In this paper, it is shown that for rather general subspaces A(X) and A(Y) of C(X) and C(Y), respectively, any linear bijection T : A(X) -> A(Y) such that f >= 0 if and only if T f >= 0 gives rise to a homeomorphism h : X -> Y with which T can be represented as a weighted composition operator. The three classical results mentioned above can be derived as corollaries. Generalizations to noncompact spaces and other function spaces such as spaces of Lipschitz functions and differentiable functions are presented.

Abstract:Let $X$ be a zero-dimensional metric space and $X'$ its derived set. We prove the following assertions: (1) the space $C_k(X,2)$ is an Ascoli space iff $C_k(X,2)$ is $k_\mathbb{R}$-space iff either $X$ is locally compact or $X$ is not locally compact but $X'$ is compact, (2) $C_k(X,2)$ is a $k$-space iff either $X$ is a topological sum of a Polish locally compact space and a discrete space or $X$ is not locally compact but $X'$ is compact, (3) $C_k(X,2)$ is a sequential space iff $X$ is a Polish space and either $X$ is locally compact or $X$ is not locally compact but $X'$ is compact, (4) $C_k(X,2)$ is a Fr\'{e}chet--Urysohn space iff $C_k(X,2)$ is a Polish space iff $X$ is a Polish locally compact space, (5) $C_k(X,2)$ is normal iff $X'$ is separable, (6) $C_k(X,2)$ has countable tightness iff $X$ is separable. In cases (1)-(3) we obtain also a topological and algebraical structure of $C_k(X,2)$.
