Abstract:The approximation algorithm of single virtual network mapping solution aimed to minimize the mapping cost based on convex quadratic programming relaxation was designed. Then aiming for dynamic arrival construction request of the single virtual network，the mapping scheme was achieved based on physical network resource pricing strategy by shadow price，applying above-mentioned approximation algorithm. And then completed the competitive algorithm design based on virtual network admission control strategy by mapping cost constraint and provided the competitive analysis of this algorithm. Experiment results show that the proposed algorithm increases the effective utilization of physical network resources，hence it can improve the virtual network construction request acceptance ratio and the long-term profit of physical network service provider.

Abstract:This paper addresses the problems of mapping virtual optical networks (VONs) onto space-division-multiplexing elastic optical data center networks (SDM-EODCNs). We first propose the concepts of link importance degree (LID) and node importance degree (NID) and put forward the calculation formula to optimize the VONs mapping, by which VON mapping approaches are developed. For comparison, we introduce a random (RAN) VON mapping approach that can provide benchmark performance. Simulation results show that the proposed LID VON mapping approach can yield solutions closest to the optimal ones obtained via an ILP model. On the other hand, compared to the NID and RAN VON mapping approaches, the LID VON mapping approach not only effectively improves the network profit by reducing the total network cost, but also solidly increases the number of VONs mapping.

Abstract:With the rapid development of mobile services, big data, cloud services, and artificial intelligence, traditional network services cannot no longer meet the requirements of current network development and solve the problems of the resource allocation and scheduling ossification in the current network. Therefore, by using network virtualization technologies, we can provide the flexible network resource configuration information for users to reduce network cost and improve network resource efficiency. The required bandwidth resources of each virtual link are divided into different transmission line rate by employing mixed line rate splitting. We propose an optimized cost approach for Virtual Optical Network (VON) mapping based on mixed line rate. Simulation results show that the proposed optimized cost approach of VON mapping based on mixed line rate can achieve better optimization and balance in terms of the network cost, frequency slot occupation, the configuration of optical transponders, and optical regenerators.

Abstract:Based on the previous research,a virtual network mapping algorithm with repeatable mapping over substrate nodes is put forward,in which,multiple virtual nodes in the same virtual network can be mapped to the same substrate node if there is enough resource capacity.That not only cuts down some virtual link mapping processes and reduces the mapping time,but also saves the substrate link cost and makes more virtual networks mapped.In addition,link splitting is introduced so that some low bandwidth resource can be used effectively to improve the mapping.Experiments show that new algorithm performs better in runtime,mapping percentage and mapping revenue.

Abstract:As one of the challenges for network virtualization, virtual network embedding which maps Virtual network (VN) to the substrate network and allocates resources according to the requirements of VN in an efficient way has gained great attention. Existing algorithms generally make their decision according to the present available substrate network resource, especially bandwidth. This paper proposes a time-based VN embedding algorithm. A probability model is formulated to obtain the maximum probability that the available resources of substrate network can be used by succeeding VN requests. The probability is set as the weight of the node and the greedy algorithm is employed to embed the virtual node. The reciprocal of the probability is set as the weight of the link and the shortest path algorithm is employed to embed the virtual link. Simulation experiments show that the proposed algorithm increases the acceptance rate and the revenue compared to the existing algorithms.

Abstract:In this study, the virtual network mapping issue in network visualization area and its current research progress are reviewed, and the main issues in admission control and algorithm performance evaluation for existing virtual network mapping algorithm are pointed out. Then the virtual network mapping approximation algorithm with admission control is proposed, and the competitive analysis of this algorithm is provided. Experiment result shows that the proposed algorithm increases the physical network resource load balancing metric and the coefficient of utilization, hence it can improve the virtual network construction request acceptance ratio and the income profit of physical network service provider.

Abstract:This paper introduces the problem of virtual network mapping on network virtualization technology,reviews the previous studies and analyzes the shortage of existing mapping algorithms.A new mapping algorithm PBMC is proposed,which is based on path based multi-commodity problem model to resolve the problem of hop count limit and network resource distribution balance.Simulation results indicate that compared with traditional multi-commodity based algorithm,PBMC performs better in virtual network request acceptance ratio and resource utilization ratio.

Abstract:This paper proposes a Virtual Network Mapping algorithm for the unsplittable flow scenario, which maps virtual nodes and virtual links at the same phrase. We formulate the VN embedding problem as a 0-1 linear programming through substrate network augmentation, and then, based on the policy of divide and rule, we solve the model using linear programming, randomized and iterative method. Simulation experiments show that the proposed algorithm increases the acceptance ratio and the revenue while decreasing the cost incurred by the substrate network in the long run.

Abstract:Network Virtualization can diversify the future Internet architecture into separate virtual networks according to different applications and requirements. Telecom operators adopt network virtualization technologies to design virtual networks to meet users' requirements and achieve high efficiency, low cost, controllability, etc. Previous researches focus on virtual networks construction based on restriction conditions of link bandwidth or optimal topology design for virtual network. In this paper we propose a multi-commodity flow model to design virtual networks based on virtual router. We then define the load of node as a parameter, based on comprehensive consideration of node's capacity and load balance. We validate the effectiveness of our algorithm through simulation. Simulation experiments show that the proposed algorithm is a good solution to the problem of virtual networks construction and also improve load balance of the substrate networks.

Abstract:In the software defined optical network (SDON) for virtual network services, there still exists unbalanced traffic load distribution in SDON. The traditional load balance mapping method exists in the problem of heavy load of key nodes in optical network and low request acceptance rate of virtual network. In this paper, a virtual mapping method of optical network based on topology awareness is proposed. When the controller of optical network is defined by software, the topology information of nodes and links in the whole network is acquired, and the relative balance weight of each node and link is calculated by combining the connectivity factor. When the virtual network service arrives, the optical network is based on the bandwidth of virtual network service the method of node mapping and link mapping is needed to improve the success rate and balance of virtual network mapping, and avoid the local overload of optical network resources.

Abstract:In this paper, we develop a virtual link priority mapping (LPM) approach and a virtual node priority mapping (NPM) approach to improve the energy efficiency and to reduce the spectrum usage over the converged flexible bandwidth optical networks and data centers. For comparison, the lower bound of the virtual optical network mapping is used for the benchmark solutions. Simulation results show that the LPM approach achieves the better performance in terms of power consumption, energy efficiency, spectrum usage, and the number of regenerators compared to the NPM approach. Abstract:We consider the problem of efficient virtual optical network (VON) mapping in a multi-domain optical network (VON-MD) with the objective of minimizing total network link cost for a given VON demand that is embedded over the multi-domain optical network. Topology aggregation (TA) is used to exchange intra and inter-domain information between domains, and heuristic algorithms are proposed for embedding considering different domain selection techniques and virtual link ordering techniques. We provide an integer linear programming formulation (ILP-VON-MD) to compare with our heuristic approaches. Numerical results show that our heuristic approaches are effective in reducing total network cost.

Abstract:This paper addresses the minimum network cost problem for survivable virtual optical network mapping in flexible bandwidth optical networks. We develop an ILP model and the LBSD (the largest bandwidth requirement (LB) of virtual links versus the shortest distance (SD)) mapping approach to minimize the network cost for a given set of VONs, and we introduce two baseline mapping approaches, named LCLC (the largest computing resources' requirement versus the largest computing resources' provisioning (LC)) and LCSD (the largest computing resources' requirement versus shortest distance) mapping approaches, for comparison. Simulation results show that LBSD can achieve network cost near the ILP solutions in a 6-node network. Also, LBSD greatly reduces the cost, the spectrum usage, and the number of regenerators compared to LCLC and LCSD in the 6-node and NSFNET networks.

Abstract:Considering the virtual network infrastructure as a service, optical network virtualization can facilitate the physical infrastructure sharing among different clients and applications that require optical network resources. Obviously, mapping multiple virtual network infrastructures onto the same physical network infrastructure is one of the greatest challenges related to optical network virtualization in flexible bandwidth optical networks. In order to efficiently address the virtual optical network (VON) provisioning problem, we can first obtain the virtual links' order and the virtual nodes' order based on their characteristics, such as the bandwidth requirement on virtual links and computing resources on virtual nodes. We then preconfigure the primary and backup paths for all node-pairs in the physical optical network, and the auxiliary graph is constructed by preconfiguring primary and backup paths. Two VON mapping approaches that include the power-aware virtual-links mapping (PVLM) approach and the power-aware virtual-nodes mapping (PVNM) approach are developed to reduce power consumption for a given set of VONs in flexible bandwidth optical networks with the distributed data centers. Simulation results show that our proposed PVLM approach can greatly reduce power consumption and save spectrum resources compared to the PVNM approach for the single-line rate and the mixed-line rate in flexible bandwidth optical networks with the distributed data centers.

Abstract:We consider virtual optical network (VON) mapping with the objective of minimizing total network link cost while guaranteeing VON availability, where VON availability is supported by providing shared backup path protection for selected VON links. We develop a matrix-based approach for calculating the availability of a VON mapping with shared backup path protection. In order to efficiently evaluate the maximum availability of a VON mapping, we transform the problem to a group node-weighted Steiner tree problem and propose an efficient auxiliary-graph-based availability (AA) algorithm to find a VON mapping with high availability. Based on the availability evaluation, we propose a heuristic algorithm to map the VON, and numerical results show that our algorithms are effective in achieving high availability while reducing the total link cost and the blocking rate.

Abstract:The virtualization of both servers and substrate networks is a promising technique that will enable the future Internet architecture to support a variety of cloud computing services and architectures. The problem of efficiently mapping a virtual infrastructure (VI) over a wide-area optical network is a key problem in provisioning Infrastructure (and Network) as a Service over multiple datacenters. In this paper, we study the problem of cost efficient VI mapping and propose a novel approach called the virtual infrastructure mapping algorithm (VIMA) that jointly considers node mapping and link mapping. Such a close coordination between the link and node mapping stages increases the efficiency of the VIMA algorithm. We compare the performance of our VIMA algorithm with other VI mapping algorithms such as NSVIM, vnmFlib and R-ViNE under various performance metrics using simulation. Our simulation results and analysis show that the VIMA algorithm outperforms the other algorithms in terms of VI mapping costs and path length of VI links.
