Abstract:This paper proposes an improved three-level zero-voltage zero-current soft-switching (ZVZCS) half-bridge type DC/DC converter. In order to turn off the inner switch in zero-current manner, a tapped inductor is designed to reset the primary circulating current during the freewheeling interval. Consequently, the resetting voltage and the time can be regulated conveniently by setting the turn ratios of the tapped inductor. The principle and operation modes are analyzed. Abstract:A novel soft-switching and low-conduction-loss bidirectional DC-DC converter is proposed. Designed for low-output voltage applications, the converter has a full-bridge circuit on the primary side and a current-fed push-pull circuit on the secondary side. The flow of current is controlled by phase-shift pulse-width modulation. By adding an active-clamp circuitry on the secondary side and using suitable gate drives, not only the converter can achieve zero-voltage-switching (ZVS), but also the circulating current is eliminated and the conduction loss is reduced. All switches including auxiliary switches in the converter have ZVS characteristics in both charging mode and discharging mode. The proposed converter employs a saturable inductor and simple external passive-commutation circuit, which makes ZVS possible for almost entire load range. Design considerations and experimental results are presented.

Abstract:In this paper, a novel single-stage soft-switching current-fed full-bridge AC/DC converter is proposed. By adding an additional commutation path, soft-switching can be realized for all power devices. The power density is also enhanced by eliminating the DC capacitor. Meanwhile, the conduction loss is also lowered through the use of the additional commutation path. Furthermore, the control strategy for the proposed converter is compatible with that for traditional PFC converter. This facilitates the use of well-developed analog control IC such as UC3854. In this paper, the topology derivation and circuit operational analysis are given. The control strategy is introduced. A simulation is carried out to verify the circuit functionality.

Abstract:This paper presents the modeling and design of a novel ZVZC FB-PWM converter. Compared to the traditional topology which employs a saturated inductor to block, the reverse current in order to achieve ZCS for the lagging leg, a novel one using two diodes in series with the lagging leg is adopted. Both the duty ratio loss is reduced and the efficiency is improved, which further reliefs the problem of thermal handling caused by the saturated inductor. What's more, better stability and dynamic behavior are acquired. A complete small-signal model for the novel ZVZC FB-PWM converter is developed. Validation of design of equation and model prediction is accomplished through numerical solutions of steady-state nonlinear equations and experimental results of a 15 kW module converter operating at 20 kHz.

Abstract:A novel fully soft switched PWM converter is proposed. By means of two auxiliary resonant inductors the current stresses in the main switches and rectifier diode are reduced. With this new resonant FSS-PWM cell the voltage stress and current stress of the boost diode are both reduced comparing with conventional ZCS-PWM converter. Hence low break-down voltage diodes can be employed to lower the conduction loss of the diode. A 1.5 kW/100 kHz prototype is made, and the theoretical analysis is verified by simulation and experiment.

Abstract:A two phase ZVS full-bridge converter with a novel hybrid current doubler rectifier structure is proposed in this paper. With the proposed topology, the secondary windings of the transformers work in series when the input voltage is low but in parallel when the input voltage is high. The diode stress on the second winding is reduced and the interleaving operation reduces the current ripple in the output filter. It can be employed in low voltage high current ouput and high power applications. A prototype with 200-400V input and 50V/20A output is built up to verify the theoretical analysis.

Abstract:A current-driven soft-switched full-bridge converter is presented. It contains a snubber formed by a switched-capacitor circuit and a resonant inductor, connected in the primary side. The transformer leakage inductance is used as a part of the resonant circuit. All the main switches are turned-on/off with zero-current-switching (ZCS), and the switches in the snubber are zero-voltage-switched (ZVS). The snubber capacitor voltage is adaptively controlled: for each actual value of the input/load current, the capacitor is charged to the minimum resonant energy necessary for assuring the soft-switching, thus reducing to minimum the circulated energy. There is no extra voltage stress on the switches. All the elements are submitted to the same voltages/currents as their counterparts in a hard-switching full-bridge converter, keeping the conduction losses to minimum. A 530V/15kV, 5kW prototype was built. The experimental results confirmed the theoretical predictions, the proposed soft-switching method resulting in an increase of the conversion efficiency.

Abstract:This paper proposes a novel soft-switching dual full-bridge converter with shared lagging leg and dual outputs in series.Resonant clamp circuits are employed across the secondary rectifiers to reduce the voltage overshoots of the secondary rectifiers, as well as extinguish the primary current during the freewheeling interval.Full Zero-Voltage-Switching (ZVS) range of the lagging leg switches can be achieved based on the parallel full-bridge configuration.The dual outputs of the proposed converter are connected in series, and the whole output voltage can be regulated within the desired voltage range by the phase-shift control.Therefore, the proposed converter would be useful for high output voltage and high power applications.Steady state operation and distinctive features of the converter are explained and verified on a 1-kW hardware prototype, and experimental results validate the feasibility and performance of the proposed converter.

Abstract:At present, the research of the single-stage power factor correction (PFC) circuits is mostly concentrated on the application of low powers. A zero-current-switching (ZCS) single-stage AC/DC converter with high power factor is proposed to use in medium and high power conditions. The PWM control is achieved by adding two auxiliary switches to the full bridge converter. The proposed converter can achieve zero-current switching and PFC in a very wide load range. It doesn't have the problem that the pulse frequency modulation (PFM) must be adopted in the full bridge resonant circuits if phase-shifted control is not used. The dynamic response of the proposed converter is faster, the cost is lower and the voltage stress of the switches is also lower as compared with the two-stage PEC converter's characteristics. The advantages are verified by the results of the simulation and experiments.

Abstract:A new current-driven soft-switched full-bridge converter is presented in this paper. By connecting a switched-capacitor snubber in parallel with the primary winding of the coupling transformer, all main switches are zero-current-switched (ZCS) and the switches in the snubber are zero-voltage-switched (ZVS). The proposed converter has the following key features. First, the transformer leakage inductance is utilized as a part of the resonant circuit for the soft-switching actions. Second, the snubber capacitor voltage is adaptively controlled: the capacitor is charged to the minimum necessary energy for switching the main switches at zero current, depending on the actual value of the input/load current. Thus, less resonant energy is circulated. Third, there is no extra voltage stress on the switches and the current through the switches is limited to the value of the input current. Consequently, the conduction losses are kept minimum. The cyclical switching operation and control of the converter are described. A tradeoff design of the snubber circuit is given: the requirement of reducing the duration of the resonant intervals for minimizing the duty-cycle loss is superimposed on the requirement of getting ZCS for a very large range of the line voltage and load. A 530-V/15-kV, 5-kW prototype has been built and evaluated. The experimental results confirmed the theoretical predictions. A comparative study on the converter efficiency with and without the proposed snubber circuit is given, showing the superiority of the proposed solution.

Abstract:In this paper, a novel ZCZVS asymmetrical dual switch forward converter with a ZCS cell is proposed. The proposed active clamp circuit helps primary switches to realize zero-voltage switching and to expend the duty cycle, while the proposed ZCS cell helps to realize zero-current switching on primary switches and the rectifier diode. All the primary semiconductor devices turn on and off under soft switching. The converter has a simple structure and minimum number of components compared with other ZCZVS dual switch forward converters. The analysis of steady state and commutation process is presented, along with design considerations. At last, a prototype is provided to verify the theory.

Abstract:As the power switches of traditional PFC(Power Factor Correction) converter working in hard-switching mode has high voltage stress, combined with the techniques of phase-shifted full-bridge and active-clamping, a PFC converter based on traditional Boost circuit is proposed, which realizes the power factor correction and DC/DC conversion by single stage circuit. By the active-clamping circuit parallel to the bridge and suitable control strategy, the voltage spike induced during the commutation by the leakage inductance of transformer can be greatly absorbed and the voltage stress of power switches is reduced. Both the bridge switch and clamping switch realize the ZVS(Zero-Voltage-Switching) by making use of the resonance between the leakage inductance of transformer and the parasitic capacitance of switch. The conditions of ZVS operation are obtained by analyzing the working principle of converter. Experimental results verify that the proposed converter realizes near unity power factor, low switch voltage stress and ZVS.
