Abstract:Located in the headstream of the Yangtze River, the Yellow River and the Lancang River, three rivers source nature reservation is the ecological barrier for regional sustainable development of midstream and downstream of the three rivers. Meanwhile, the economy of this area is still very backward. The living standards of the people are still in the poor state. Thus, it is very urgent to protect and develop three rivers source area and to improve the development level of culture and economy. This paper summarizes the protection real state of the reservation, and explains the predominant conditions of sustainable development, for example resources of animal and plant, tourism resources, mineral resources and water resources. Whereas there are many problems in regional protection and sustainable development at present, nature factors, human activities such as overgrazing, out-of-order exploiting the gold, excavating the Chinese caterpillar fungus, smuggling wild animals which destroyed the ecological environment and resources. There exists some restrict factors in the area such as faulty policy, undeveloped traffic and people of low diathesis, etc. We propose some suitable local development strategies on the principle of obtaining best economic benefit, social benefit and ecological benefits according to the actual conditions, develop the eco-tourism,-set up some characteristic and pollution-free industries such as processing and producing peculiarly green agricultural product of the area, livestock produce and locally special products. Through guarantee of policy, adjust of law and regulation, propagation and education and staff training guarantee sustainable development and utilization of natural and humane resources of three rivers source nature reservation.
