Abstract:Two new 18-norschiartane-type schinortriterpenoids, namely wuwezidilactones Q (1) and R (2) were isolated from the stems of Schisandra lancifolia. Their structures were determined on the basis of extensive spectroscopic analysis. The absolute configurations of the new compounds were further determined by ROESY and an empirical comparison of their experimental ECD spectra with literature.

Abstract:A new oleanane-type triterpenoid saponin with a carbonyl group at C-15, named polybosaponin A (1), together with a known triterpenoid saponin, dehydrosoyasaponin I (2), were isolated from Radix Hedysari. On the basis of one- and two-dimensional NMR and high resolution electrospray ionization mass spectrometry, the structure of 1 were elucidated and the 1H and 13C NMR spectral signals were assigned totally. In addition, the complete assignment of 1H NMR signals and revision of incorrect assignment of 13C NMR signals for 2 were also achieved based on one- and two-dimensional NMR spectrometry.

Abstract:Two new compounds, a stigmasterol (1) and an eremophilenolide (2), were isolated from Ligularia dolichobotrys (Diels) together with ten known sesquiterpenoids, two known triterpenes and five known sterols. Their structures were elucidated by spectroscopic methods (IR, MS, 1H, 13C and 2D NMR). In addition, bakkenolide A (3) exhibited effective antitumor activity to human leukemia cells (HL-60), human hepatoma cells (Bel-7402) and human ovarian neoplasm cells (HO-8910).

Abstract:Two undescribed stilbenoid diglycosides, dendrosonside A and dendrosonside B (1 and 2), were isolated from the stems of Dendrobium 'Sonia'. Their structures were elucidated based on 1 D/2D NMR and HRESIMS. The glycosyls contained in the two isolates were determined as D-glucose by acid hydrolysis and GC-MS analyses. Abstract:From the roots of Helicteres angustifolia, collected from Anhui province, two triterpenoids of oleanolic acid type were obtained and were identified as new compounds, methyl 3beta-hydroxyolean-12-en-27-benzoyloxy-28-oate(1) and 3beta-O-(p-hydroxy-(E)-cinnamoyl)-12 oleanen-28-oic acid(2). The variety of spectroscopic methods such as IR, HRMS, EIMS, H-H COSY, H-C COSY NMR have been applied in the structural elucidation of these two compounds.

Abstract:A new eudesmane-type sesquiterpenoid, hedytriol (1), was isolated from Hedychium yunnanense (Zingiberaceae). By means of chemical and spectroscopic methods, the structure of 1 was determined as ( − )-7aH-eudesmane-1β, 4α, 11-triol. A new ent-eudesmane sesquiterpenoid, disciferitriol (2), was isolated from Porana discifera (Convolvulaceae), which was exactly the enantiomer of hedytriol (1). The structures of pterodondiol (3a) and pterodontriol B (3), previously isolated from Laggera pterodonta, were revised on the basis of X-ray diffraction, as well as chemical transformations.

Abstract:Two novel diterpenes Enhoidin A (1) and Enhoidin B (2) featuring an unusual gibberellane skeleton were isolated from the stems and leaves of Enhalus acoroides. Their structures were elucidated on the basis of spectroscopic analysis including 1D and 2D NMR techniques and HR-ESI-MS. This is the first time that this type of lactone ring between C-18 and C-20 has been found among gibberellanes from the tropical seagrasses. Evaluation of the all compounds for cytotoxicity against four human cancer cell lines (MCF-7, HCT-116, HepG-2 and HeLa), and showed moderate cytotoxic activities.

Abstract:Two new lignans, named as 6-hydroxyhinokinin and 6-hydroxyhinokinin-6- O-β-D-glucopyranoside, together with five known compounds: elemol, oplodiol, catechin, β-sitosterol and daucosterol were isolated from Kadsura heteroclita. The structures of these compounds were characterized by extensive 1D and 2D NMR spectral experiments, chemical analysis and comparison with literature data. The absolute structures of the novel lignans were elucidated as 8 S, 8′ S, based on their optical rotations.

Abstract:Two new triterpenoids (1–2) were isolated and elucidated from the roots of Gypsophila oldhamiana, together with four known triterpenoids (3–6). Their structures were identified to be 3β-hydroxyolean-13(18)-ene-23, 28-dioic acid (1), 3β, 12α-dihydroxy-23-carboxyolean-28, 13β-olide (2), 3β, 16α-dihydroxy-23-oxoolean-13(18)-en-28-oic acid (3), gypsogenin (4), quillaic acid (5) and gypsogenic acid (6) by spectral methods. All compounds were tested for their cytotoxicities against human tumour cell lines (lung cancer H460 and gastric cancer SGC-7901) and for their antiangiogenic effects using a zebra fish model. All compounds showed interesting antiangiogenic activities and the significant cytotoxicities against H460.
