Abstract:Test data generation is very labor-intensive and expensive in software testing. The automation of test process can achieve significant reductions in the cost of software development. Combining the parallel search ability of the adaptive genetic algorithm (aGA) with the controllable jumping property of simulated annealing (SA), a kind of effective hybrid meta-heuristic algorithm (SAaGA) with the operators and parameters well designed is proposed for automatic test data generation in this paper. The experiments have shown that the SAaGA hybrid meta-heuristic algorithm may significantly reduce the cost and improve the percentage of code coverage compared to the genetic algorithm and simulated annealing

Abstract:Automatic generation technology of test data is an important field of software test, which is an effective method to promote the efficiency and the effect of software test. In order to ensure that the more frequently used features would be tested more thoroughly, usage model and genetic algorithm were integrated together. One programming model was proposed, in which the optimal objective function was defined as the required test data number for whole software test. The methods to decide the weight of path and to select the target path set were presented. Three key elements, i.e. path weight, path coverage ratio and path approximation level were incorporated for designing the fitness function. An example shows the rationality and validity of the model and the methods.

Abstract:This paper presents an automatic test data generation tool that aims at generating test data dynamically by reducing the problem of test data generation to one minimizing function. The tool is composed of three parts: program instrumentation module; test path generation module and test case generation module. In order to enhance the computational efficiency, we makes some improvements on the encoding, crossover probability and annealing gene of the genetic simulated annealing algorithm (GASS), and then use the results to generate the test data on the program instrumentation. Experimental results show this approach has better effect.

Abstract:Applications of Generic Algorithm to generate test data to cover the appointed path have been studied widely.In practice,there are a series of factors that affect the generation efficiency of the test data,such as transcendent knowledge,GA parameters,path complexity etc.In this paper,key technologies of applying Generic Algorithm to test data generation are outlined at first. Then experiments are designed to analyze the factors that may affect the generation efficiency of the testing data.Conclusions are drawn according to the experiments and discussions.The results are useful for continuing research.

Abstract:A new automatic test data generation approach is presented based on Length_N coverage criterion through genetic simulated annealing algorithm. The method mainly works on test data generation where the problem of test data generation is reduced to one of minimizing a function. Firstly, a new test coverage criterion called Length_N is proposed to aim at the feasible of path coverage criteria. To enhance the generated efficiency, we make some improvements on genetic simulated annealing algorithm and use the results to generate test data. Lastly, experiment results show the method has a better effect.

Abstract:A hybrid particle swarm genetic algorithm is purposed to apply in software testing using case automated generations. On the basis of classical genetic algorithm, the algorithm divided the population into “families”, influencing the convergence efficiency by crossover in family, keeping the diversity of the population by crossover between families; meanwhile, enhancing the speed of convergence by the PSO crossover (commixed the thought of PSO in genetic algorithm) According to the characteristics of software testing problems, we designed the corresponding fitness function and the encoding method. The results of data experiment were given to illustrate the effectiveness of the algorithm.

Abstract:Cost of testing activities is a major portion of the total cost of a software. In testing, generating test data is very important because the efficiency of testing is highly dependent on the data used in this phase. In search-based software testing, soft computing algorithms explore test data in order to maximize a coverage metric which can be considered as an optimization problem. In this paper, we employed some meta-heuristics (Artificial Bee Colony, Particle Swarm Optimization, Differential Evolution and Firefly Algorithms) and Random Search algorithm to solve this optimization problem. First, the dependency of the algorithms on the values of the control parameters was analyzed and suitable values for the control parameters were recommended. Algorithms were compared based on various fitness functions (path-based, dissimilarity-based and approximation level+branch distance) because the fitness function affects the behaviour of the algorithms in the search space. Results showed that meta-heuristics can be effectively used for hard problems and when the search space is large. Besides, approximation level+branch distance based fitness function is generally a good fitness function that guides the algorithms accurately.

Abstract:Combining the parallel searching structure of genetic algorithm(GA) with the probabilistic jumping property of simulated annealing (SA), also with the using of adaptive crossover operator and mutation operator, the adaptive SAGA hybrid optimization strategy is proposed. The adaptive SAGA hybrid optimization strategy was used to generate test data automatically in the structural test tool WBoxTool, which was developed on an independent basis. By comparing adaptive SAGA algorithm with the simple genetic algorithm and adaptive genetic algorithm on effectiveness, the adaptive SAGA algorithm has more strong searching ability that can abandon the local optimal solution and find the global one more quickly.

Abstract:Software testing is an important and valuable part of the software development life cycle. Due to time, cost and other circumstances, exhaustive testing is not feasible that's why there is a need to automate the software testing process. Testing effectiveness can be achieved by the State Transition Testing (STT) which is commonly used in real time, embedded and web-based type of software systems. Aim of the current paper is to present an algorithm by applying an ant colony optimization technique, for generation of optimal and minimal test sequences for behavior specification of software. Present paper approach generates test sequence in order to obtain the complete software coverage. Abstract:This paper drawled a polymorphic ant colonies algorithm method to generate test-data automatically.This method transferred the data input to bit string in binary coding approach.Based on the ant colonies algorithm,divided the ants into three categories.Different pheromones with different criteria to move,focused the analysis of exploring ant and searching ant.combined local search and global search to explore the optimal solution.With the similarity of the route,it could narrow the search space and increase the convergence rate;with the fitness function,it could find the optimal routes.This method could solve the local optimal problems and improve the efficiency of convergence.Comparing and studying the ant colony algorithm,show that the approach is feasible and superior to the previous in efficiency.

Abstract:When studying path-wise automatic generation of test data,it is found that there are still many problems in several widely used methods at present,and the efficiency of the algorithms are generally low. Therefor,a method,which combines opti?mized particle swarm algorithm(PSO)and ant colony algorithm,is proposed. In the early stage of the proposed method,the reduced order operation is done firstly for PSO,and generates preliminary test results via PSO algorithm. Afterward,for the local search of procedure of each particle,the pheromone mechanism is introduced to effectively guarantee the diversity of the search process and avoid the search process "precocious" and fall into local optimum.

Abstract:To deal with the premature convergence and the low-efficiency in the late evolution of genetic algorithm(GA),an intelligent method of auto-composing test paper based on hybrid genetic algorithm(HGA) was proposed.The method combined adaptive genetic algorithm(AGA) with bit hill climbing algorithm.AGA was used for global optimization in the early evolution,enhancing the convergence rate of GA while avoiding the premature convergence of GA.Bit hill climbing algorithm started in the late evolution to enhance the local search capacity of AGA.Experiments show that HGA compared with AGA has a great improvement on effectiveness,stability and efficiency,this kind of genetic algorithm could settle problem of auto-composing test paper more effectively and has good performance and practicability.

Abstract:Search-based Software Engineering has been utilized for a number of software engineering activities. One area where Search-Based Software Engineering has seen much application is test data generation. Evolutionary testing designates the use of metaheuristic search methods for test case generation. The search space is the input domain of the test object, with each individual or potential solution, being an encoded set of inputs to that test object. The fitness function is tailored to find test data for the type of test that is being undertaken. Evolutionary Testing (ET) uses optimizing search techniques such as evolutionary algorithms to generate test data. The effectiveness of GA-based testing system is compared with a Random testing system. For simple programs both testing systems work fine, but as the complexity of the program or the complexity of input domain grows, GA-based testing system significantly outperforms Random testing.

Abstract:Dataflow techniques have been widely applied to test the object-oriented software, but the existing techniques mainly care how to arrange method sequence to test, not paying attention to how to generate test data automatically. Although the existing random test data generators can create test data automatically, yet information about the test requirement is not incorporated into the generation process, it may fail to find data to satisfy the requirements. This paper presents an automatic test data generation model that combine genetic algorithm (GA) with dataflow analysis. The model applies Control Flow Graph (CFG) which is partitioned into proper blocks to aid data flow analysis. Data Type Graph (DTG) presented in this paper facilitates the constructing of an object to realize automatic testing. Due to the search function of genetic algorithm, it improves the efficiency of test data generation. The experimental results prove our model to be more effective in test data generation and in coverage of dataflow than the random algorithm, showing the applicable significance of the model in software testing for both desktop and embedded systems.
