Abstract:A deep research on urban problem is an urgent,necessary and proper task in the process of urban-ization of China,drawing more attention to the study on the interaction mechanism of land use and transport system.Earlier discussions on function mechanism of urban land-use and transport system can be seen in lo-cation theories and urban planning and evolution theories are mainly based on urban structure and function.Relationships among residential density,design,traffic,traveling modes and other factors have been also re-vealed according to publications.As concerns on this field are increasing dramatically,a great deal of models has been released to uncover the mysteries of urban land-use and transport system.This paper lists 6 different kinds of models,including spatial interrelation model,mathematics based operation program,random utility model,bid-rent model,and input-output model A rough review of each category is given,and the 13 most common used models are compared under a set of attributes in the text,showing that dynamic feedback,mul-ti-path network assignment,man-machine intercommunion and disaggregated data collecting might become the important directions of urban land-use and transport system models.However,uncertainties of urban land-use and transport system and its models are seldom mentioned in literatures.It is vital to deal with the uncertainties for the further development of this field,as it would cause a great negative impact on the urban developing once an inaccurate model result is applied to aid a decision making.The paper argues that the in-digenous study is still on the road.Further more,it can be expected that 3S wares(remote sensing,geography information systems and global positioning systems),especially geography information system,will become a kernel part of the urban land-use and transport system model.Thus,taking technical difficulties of coupling 3S wares with urban land-use and transport system models is a direction with great application perspective.

Abstract:Based upon a travel survey of 1365 individuals from nine selected sub-districts of Hangzhou, this study develops a subdivided Multinomial Logistic Model to explore the underlying influence of land-use characteristics on different communities' travel pattern of Shopping-Mall, utilizing explanatory variables of individual attributes, travel features and land-use characteristics. The results verify that, accessibility enhancement and mixed use of commercial and residential land could impel more walk and bicycle trips to Shopping-Mall; the growing of transit service would boost the probability of non-motorized travels as well, whereas transit density itself wouldn't restrict car trips to Shopping-Mall. These findings manifest that, inhabitants' trip structure of Shopping-Mall will be optimized by implementing the progressive planning idea of urban spatial organization, and it's necessary to synthesize multiple instrumentality of land-use governance, public facility control and traffic environment improvement in different scale of community business circle where residents' activities are concentrated. Moreover, the sample-subdivided simulation approach can be applied to evaluate various effects of land use on different groups more accurately and provide basis for planning-related decisions as well as local growth management. © 2012 ASCE.

Abstract:In a background of low-carbon and green development in medium- and small-sized cities,the paper considers the integrated land uses as the basis for travel accessibility.Drawn from information obtained in resident surveys,the paper proposes four measurement indicators,including complex demand,integrated scale,travel mode and travel time.The features of the four indicators are described according to the current situation in China.and the accessibility model based on integrated land-use system is constructed based on Graph Theory,GIS analysis and modeling. At the end,the paper explains the application of the model in the planning practice in Qujiang in Zhejiang province.

Abstract:Interaction between urban land use and urban transportation has been a research hotspot in the ifelds of Geography, Economics and Urban Planning. This article gives an overview on the studies of urban land use and transportation interactions, both domestic and abroad. Base on the review, we found that:For the impact of urban land use on urban transportation, most researches get to the same conclusion that high-density development decrease the dependency on private cars, but this is not the case for the impact of mixed land use on transportation;besides the scale of the researches on the impact of land use pattern on transportation generally differs, researches abroad tend to focus on a plot scale while that in China focus on city scale;for the impact of urban transportation on urban land use, researches domestic and abroad show little difference in the research point of interest and methodologies, but the wide-spread of high-speed rail in China does provide a new context for related studies;integrating both impacts into a model is a hotspot in this area, and researches abroad tends to develop the land use and transportation integrated model, while that in China generally involve a land use and transportation coordination assessment. This article thus highlights some future prospects for further research.

Abstract:Transportation takes an important part in economy,its impact on regional land use change has not yet drawn enough attention.Based on lots of literature,this paper reviews the influence of road transportation systems,including motorways,common highways,urban rail transits and railways on regional land use change.The investigation shows that the current research directions mainly focus on the influence of road on regional land use change.The investigation also find that road transportation systems could enhance accessibility and affect the land use change in surrounding areas,based on the rank of the road,the distance from road,the original land use types and so on.Compared to open road systems,closed road systems including motorways,city rails and railways,the influence on surrounding land use is realized through spots such as entrance and stations and then expanded along the road systems.In terms of researching methods,Chinese scholars prefer qualitative analysis,while scientists abroad tend to adopt model analysis.Taking buffer analysis into consideration,which is now a widely used method in this field,it requires scientific improvement in the determination of buffer zones.on top of that,the final parts of the essay suggests that further attention should be paid on special nodes and areas,method improvement and comprehensive modeling.

Abstract:To meet the evolving demands of land use and transport interaction (LUTI) assessment within China's national territory spatial planning (NTSP) system, this paper introduces the level of development (LoD) and the level of matching (LoM) evaluation models, based on the traffic facility and land use factors. The LoD model, founded on the modified node‐place model, provides a comprehensive assessment of the traffic facility and land use development scales. Conversely, the LoM model, grounded in data envelopment analysis methods, evaluates the relative relationship between transport services and the travel demand generated by land use. The integrated use of LoD and LoM can both reflect the development scale and matching status between traffic services and travel activities, which are crucial contents in the planning works, especially within the NTSP framework. The proposed models are tested in the city of Guangzhou, and the LoD values exhibit peaks in central urban zones, suburban towns, and areas adjacent to railway transit, with a decline observed in rural farmland and ecological regions. In contrast, the LoM distribution performs a distinct pattern, highlighting numerous underperforming areas with congestion or idle problems in urban centers, alongside well‐coordinated regions showcasing a balance between traffic facilities and land uses in rural regions. Furthermore, the LoM scores revealed frequent instances of facility crowding in urban regions and intensive occurrences of facility idleness in rural areas. By marking regions with low LoD scores, the LoD model finds suitable application in determining the urban development border, essential for restricting land development and preserving farmland and ecological areas. Meanwhile, LoM aids in improving urban renewal efforts by assessing and optimizing the balance between intensive land uses and limited traffic facilities. Validated against the existing metrics, the combined use of LoD and LoM efficiently captures the most details of the LUTI process at the lowest computational cost.

Abstract:Research on links between transport and land-use is by essence interdisciplinary, as a result of the multi-dimensionality and complexity of these objects. In the case of models simulating interactions between transport and land-use, the research landscape is similarly relatively broad and sparse. We propose in this paper a bibliometric analysis of this literature from an interdisciplinary perspective. We first provide a survey of the various disciplines and approaches. We then construct an interdisciplinary corpus of around 10,000 papers, which we analyse in terms of citation network and semantic content. We illustrate therein the diversity of existing approaches, their complementarity, and possible future research directions coupling some of these viewpoints.

Abstract:The need to mitigate the repercussions of urban sprawl over the last decades triggered the use of systematic urban plans that encompass land use, transportation and environmental dimensions. These plans aim at forecasting housing demand and analyzing the impacts governmental policy programs may have on urban development. A considerable number of integrated urban models have been developed and used in the regional transportation planning. Within this context, the history and future of integrated transportation and land-use urban models are discussed and indicated. The review of these models embarks on the process of building the future integrated urban model.

Abstract:The relationship between metropolitan scale expansion and land use intensity has been a hot research topic in Mainland China in the recent years. Even though many scholars have already discussed this topic from a theoretical standpoint, unfortunately, empirical research in this regard has been woefully lacking. In light of this, this study proffers an empirical investigation of 120 major Chinese cities in 2009, by first establishing an urban land use intensity index by means of a principal component analysis, followed by the application of the structural equation model (SEM) to verify said relationship. The findings show that urban land use intensity has both positive and negative effects on urban scale. In particular, while the agglomerate effect of land and capital is positive, the substitution effect between them is negative. The findings of this study particularly address the coupling relationship of urban scale and land use intensity in Mainland China. The results imply that when the levels of non-land factors rise, urban land use intensity will improve. In other words, following the implementation of the new urbanization policy in China, and the ever-growing significance of the dynamic agglomeration effect, there is a positive coupling relationship between urban scale and land use intensity. Abstract:As there has always been debate over the problem of the impacts of urban land use on travel demand,the relationship among land use,travel demand and socio-economic properties is analyzed in this paper.Multi-linear regression model is built to test the respective impacts of population density,land use mix,household income and household size on household trip times,trip mode,trip distance and trip time length.The factors which have real correlation are found out,based on the verification of the remarkable.level of the regression model.In the end,the meaning of research on the relationship between land use and transportation is stated,and future research direction is also pointed out.

Abstract:This paper describes how the relationship between land use and transportation has long been acknowledged within academic disciplines such as economics, geography, urban planning, and transportation planning. The reciprocity between transportation constructions and land development is well documented in history. In spite of the historical importance of transportation to land development, a great deal of uncertainty remains regarding the nature of the relationship in the modern world. As a new computer technique, geographic information system (GIS) can provide powerful method for spatial analysis, spatial visualization and spatial statistics. This paper reflects on the relationship between land use and transportation, with particular emphasis on the relationship research with GIS. Firstly, current integrated researches on land use and transportation are summarized. Integrated relationship analysis based on GIS is included. Problems existing in integrated research are generalized and analyzed. Secondly, according these problems, spatial data management and expression, spatial analysis and integrate models database building on the relationship are discussed in detail. Thirdly, the whole functions of GIS for the integrated relationship research are put forward. In the end, a research frame of integrated relationship between land use and transportation of a city based on GIS is designed.

Abstract:Supporting the evaluation of Beijing Urban Master Planning (2004-2020), a Beijing land-use and transportation integrated model is established on the basis of the transportation model of Beijing. The core improvement is the addition of a land use model and the interaction between the land use model and a transport model. Four sub models (location choice, rent, development and land price models) are contained in the land use model. The most important sub model is the location choice model. Commute accessibility, education, culture, environment and health care factors are selected to calibrate this model. The population distribution is sourced from the location choice model and the commute accessibility has been computed based on the transport model and input into the land use model.

Abstract:A comparative study of 5 transprtation accessibility models emphasized the definitions,connotations and model formulations for urban transport planning.The empirical study evaluated the public transit accessibility at peak rush hours in central Dalian.The study evaluates the relationship between accessibility and mobility and presents an accessibility-oriented planning method.Compared with traditional transport planning,this method is completely people-oriented and,thus,more useful for solving urban transport problems.

Abstract:The existence and development of cities is to make citizen's social production and daily life a better one. However, in the current process of urbanization, too much attention is paid on the industrial production. Little research to date has been focused on the livability of cities. Given this, this paper first reviewed the theoretical research and construction practice of livable city at home and abroad and then analyzed the problems of the new residential areas and old street areas from the community perspective. By using the case study and comparative analysis method, the paper also analyzed the interaction between China's urban growth pattern flaws and urban land use structure, as well as their impacts on existing residential pattern called residential district pattern of Modernism. The impact of the New Urbanism TND model on China's community construction is investigated and the difference between the residential districts and TND communities is also analyzed by using a practical case study in Gemdale Zizai City. Finally, the Chinese livable community model based on TND is proposed in the study, which provides a reference for theoretical research and construction practice on China's livable city.

Abstract:Integrated transportation and land use studies are of major interest to planners because they consider the interaction between transportation development and land use change. Quantifying the impact of transport infrastructure on land use change is necessary for evaluating the role of transportation development in the process of land use and land cover change in the urban-rural fringe. Taking Qixia District of Nanjing City, Jiangsu Province, China as a typical urban-rural fringe area, this paper analyzes the patterns and characteristics of land use change along three major transportation arteries using land use data from 2000 and 2008. We examine the spatial differentiation and gradient of land use pattern around railway, expressway, and highway corridors to investigate whether land use change in the urban-rural fringe is related to distance from transportation arteries and to clarify the varying impacts of different forms of transport infrastructure on land use patterns. We find that construction land generally tends to be located close to major transportation arteries, and that railways have the most obvious influence on land use change in the urban-rural fringe, while the impact of expressways was not significant. We conclude that there exists a causal relationship between the presence of transportation arteries and land use change in the urban-rural fringe, but this relationship varies across different types of linear transport infrastructure.

Abstract:The purpose of this study is to make better understanding of the m ec hanism and cause of land use change deeply,anticipate the land use change patte rn in the future,and make relevant policies. Methods of documentation and compa rison were employed. The study point out the drawback of current land use change models,that is,how to model the land use driving force,how to syncretize the land use data,how to analyze the scale of the driving force and the natural fe edback mechanism of land use change. It is concluded that human factors,scales and regional factors need to be considered in future land use change models.
