Abstract:In this paper, the delayed Leslie-Gower predator-prey is investigated. By constructing a Liyapunov function, we obtain a sufficient condition for global stability of the positive equilibrium. We also present some related qualitative results for this system.

Qualitative Theory of Dynamical Systems

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate the global Hopf bifurcation of a diffusive modified Leslie–Gower predator–prey model with delay and Michaelis–Menten type prey harvesting. First, we obtain the stability of positive steady state and the existence of local Hopf bifurcation under certain conditions. Second, we get the permanence of the system by using the comparison theorem. Moreover, by constructing a suitable Lyapunov function, we derive sufficient conditions for the global attractivity of the unique positive steady state for the system without delay. Then, the global existence of positive periodic solutions is established by using the global Hopf bifurcation result of Wu. Finally, the results are verified by numerical simulation.

Abstract:A Leslie-Gower predator prey model with Holling II type cannibalism term on predator species is proposed and studied in this paper. By constructing a suitable Lyapunov function, we show that if the positive equilibrium exist, it is globally asymptotically stable. Our study indicates that suitable cannibalism has no influence on the persistent property of the system, however, cannibalism could reduce the final density of the predator species and increase the final density of the prey species. Excessive cannibalism may enhance the possibility of extinction to the predator species.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider a stochastic two-species predator–prey system with modified Leslie–Gower. Meanwhile, we assume that hunting cooperation occurs in the predators. By using Itô formula and constructing a proper Lyapunov function, we first show that there is a unique global positive solution for any given positive initial value. Furthermore, based on Chebyshev inequality, the stochastic ultimate boundedness and stochastic permanence are discussed. Then, under some conditions, we prove the persistence in mean and extinction of system. Finally, we verify our results by numerical simulations.

Abstract:In this paper, we propose a Leslie–Gower predator–prey model with strong Allee effect on prey and fear effect on predator. We discuss the existence and local stability of equilibria by making full use of qualitative analytical theory. It is shown that the above system exhibits at most two positive equilibria and it can undergo a series of bifurcation phenomena. We indicate that the dynamical behavior of the model is closely related to the fear effect on predator. In detail, when the fear effect parameter [Formula: see text], the system will undergo degenerate Hopf bifurcation. There exist two limit cycles (the inner is stable and the outer is unstable). However, when [Formula: see text], the system will undergo degenerate Bogdanov–Takens bifurcation. Also, by numerical simulation, we conclude that the stronger the fear effect, the bigger the density of prey species. The above shows that fear effect on predator is beneficial to the persistence of the prey species. Our results can be seen as a complement to previous works [González-Olivares et al., 2011; Pal & Mandal, 2014].

Abstract:In this paper, we consider a Leslie–Gower predator–prey model with Allee effect on the prey and a linear functional response. Here the Allee effect impacts the birth rate of the prey, which is different from the common multiplicative and additive Allee effects. The model is well-posed, that is, all solutions are bounded. Applying the blow-up method indirectly, we prove that the origin which is not an equilibrium of the system is an attractor. Then we study the existence and stability of equilibria, which indicate that the system undergoes bifurcations. With the help of Sotomayor’s theorem, we show the occurrence of saddle-node bifurcation. Moreover, there is degenerate Hopf bifurcation of codimension at least three. By choosing two (three) parameters of the system as bifurcation parameters and calculating a versal unfolding near the cusp, we demonstrate that the system undergoes Bogdanov–Takens bifurcation of codimension two (three). These theoretical results are supported with numerical simulations.

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate the stability and bifurcation of a Leslie-Gower predator-prey model with a fear effect and nonlinear harvesting. We discuss the existence and stability of equilibria, and show that the unique equilibrium is a cusp of codimension three. Moreover, we show that saddle-node bifurcation and Bogdanov-Takens bifurcation can occur. Also, the system undergoes a degenerate Hopf bifurcation and has two limit cycles (i.e., the inner one is stable and the outer is unstable), which implies the bistable phenomenon. We conclude that the large amount of fear and prey harvesting are detrimental to the survival of the prey and predator.

Mathematical Modelling of Natural Phenomena

Abstract:In this paper, a delayed diffusive predator-prey system with the fear effect and Holling type III functional response is considered, and Neumann boundary condition is imposed on this system. First, we explore the stability of the unique positive constant steady state and the existence of local Hopf bifurcation. Then the global attraction domain G∗ of system (4) is obtained by the comparison principle and the iterative method. Through constructing the Lyapunov function, we investigate uniform boundedness of periodic solutions’periods. Finally, we prove the global continuation of periodic solutions by the global Hopf bifurcation theorem of Wu. Moreover, some numerical simulations that support the analysis results are given.

Abstract:In this paper, we explored a modified Leslie-Gower predator-prey model incorporating a fear effect and multiple delays. We analyzed the existence and local stability of each potential equilibrium. Furthermore, we investigated the presence of periodic solutions via Hopf bifurcation bifurcated from the positive equilibrium with respect to both delays. By utilizing the normal form theory and the center manifold theorem, we investigated the direction and stability of these periodic solutions. Our theoretical findings were validated through numerical simulations, which demonstrated that the fear delay could trigger a stability shift at the positive equilibrium. Additionally, we observed that an increase in fear intensity or the presence of substitute prey reinforces the stability of the positive equilibrium.

Abstract:The spreading phenomena in modified Leslie-Gower reaction-diffusion predator-prey systems are the topic of this paper. We mainly study the existence of two different types of traveling waves. Be specific, with the aid of the upper and lower solutions method, we establish the existence of traveling wave connecting the prey-present state and the coexistence state or the prey-present state and the prey-free state by constructing different and appropriate Lyapunov functions. Moreover, for traveling wave connecting the prey-present state and the prey-free state, we gain more monotonicity information on wave profile based on the asymptotic behavior at negative infinite. Finally, our results are applied to modified Leslie-Gower system with Holling II type or Lotka-Volterra type, and then a novel Lyapunov function is constructed for the latter, which further enhances our results. Meanwhile, some numerical simulations are carried to support our results.

First, we use Blow-Up method to explore the stability of the original point. Analyze the local stability of the non-negative equilibriums of the system. Taking the growth rate of predators as the Hopf bifurcation parameters. And give the condition of the model Hopf bifurcation. Using the method of calculating the first Lyapunov coefficient to discuss the direction of the Hopf bifurcation near the weak center.

Abstract:In this paper, a Leslie–Gower model with weak Allee effect on prey and fear effect on predator is proposed. Compared with the case without fear effect on predator, the new model undergoes richer dynamic behaviors such as saddle-node bifurcation, Hopf bifurcation and Bogdanov–Takens bifurcation. Also, different from the strong Allee effect on prey, the system with weak Allee effect has bistable attractors which are a largely stable limit cycle and a stable positive equilibrium, two stable equilibria, or a stable limit cycle and a stable trivial equilibrium. When the Allee effect coefficient is intermediate, fear effect on the predator can protect the prey and the predator from being extinguished. The results in this paper can be seen as a complement to those in the literatures about the Leslie–Gower model with Allee effect and fear effect.

Abstract:This article concerns the structure of the nonconstant steady states for a predator-prey model of Leslie-Gower type with Sigmoid functional and prey-taxis subject to the homogeneous Neumann boundary condition. The existence of bounded classical global solutions is discussed in bounded domains with arbitrary spatial dimension and any prey-taxis sensitivity coefficient. The local stability of the homogeneous steady state is analyzed to show that the prey-taxis sensitivity coefficient destabilizes the stability of the homogeneous steady state when prey defends. Then we study the existence and stability of the nonconstant positive steady state of the system over 1D domain by applying the bifurcation theory and present properties of local branches such as pitchfork and turning direction. Moreover, we discuss global bifurcation, homogeneous steady state solutions, nonconstant steady states solutions, spatio-temporal periodic solutions and spatio-temporal irregular solutions which demonstrate the coexistence and spatial distribution of prey and predator species. Finally, we perform numerical simulations to illustrate and support our theoretical analysis.
