Abstract:It is a challenging issue to develop optimal real-time target tracking methods for automobile in the small areas such as urban and indoor environments. In order to get comprehensive navigation information, a target tracking system utilizing ultrasound and machine vision is proposed. In this system, the position, velocity and the yaw in the relative coordinate are used as the state variables, the ultrasound is used to measure the distance between the reference node and the blind node, and the yaw of the automobile is measured by the machine vision. Then, the extended Kalman filter is used to fuse the information measured from local estimators in the proposed method. Simulations show that the position error of the proposed approach is about 0.2m and the velocity error of the proposed approach is about 0.1 m/s.

Abstract:A new method for correcting carrier phase cycle slips in single-frequency GPS signal is presented. In order to ensure real-time capability and accuracy, processing based on wavelet reconstruction is developed to restrain the influence of noise. Applied to kinetic precise point positioning, this method can detect cycle slips sensitively and make correction accurately by processing linear combination of phase and code signals. An application on practical data is also presented to prove the effectiveness of this algorithm and show the superiority to conventional method.

Abstract:Real-time cycle slip detection and repair is one of the key issues in global positioning system (GPS) high precision data processing and application. In particular, when GPS stations are in special environments, such as strong ionospheric disturbance, sea, and high-voltage transmission line interference, cycle slip detection and repair in low elevation GPS observation data are more complicated than those in normal environments. For low elevation GPS undifferenced carrier phase data in different environments, a combined cycle slip detection algorithm is proposed. This method uses the first-order Gauss–Markov stochastic process to model the pseudorange multipath in the wide-lane phase minus narrow-lane pseudorange observation equation, and establishes the state equation of the wide-lane ambiguity with the pseudorange multipath as a parameter, and it uses the Kalman filter for real-time estimation and detects cycle slips based on statistical hypothesis testing with a predicted residual sequence. Meanwhile, considering there are certain correlations among low elevation, observation epoch interval, and ionospheric delay error, a second-order difference geometry-free combination cycle slip test is constructed that takes into account the elevation. By combining the two methods, real-time cycle slip detection for GPS low elevation satellite undifferenced data is achieved. A cycle slip repair method based on spatial search and objective function minimization criterion is further proposed to determine the correct solution of the cycle slips after they are detected. The whole algorithm is experimentally verified using the static and kinematic measured data of low elevation satellites under four different environments: normal condition, high-voltage transmission lines, dynamic condition in the sea, and ionospheric disturbances. The experimental results show that the algorithm can detect and repair cycle slips accurately for low elevation GPS undifferenced data, the difference between the float solution and the true value for the cycle slip does not exceed 0.5 cycle, and the differences obey the normal distribution overall. At the same time, the wide-lane ambiguity and second-order difference GF combination sequence calculated by the algorithm is smoother, which give further evidence that the algorithm for cycle slip detection and repair is feasible and effective, and has the advantage of being immune to the special observation environments.

Abstract:The detection and repair of the cycle slip is a key step for high precision navigation and positioning in indoor environments. Different methods have been developed to detect and repair cycle slips for carrier phase processing. However, most approaches are designed to eliminate the effects of the ionosphere in an outdoor environment, and many of them use pseudorange (code) information that is no longer suitable for indoor multipath environments. In this paper, a method based on the geometry-free combination without the pseudorange data is proposed to detect and fix cycle slips. A ground-based navigation system is built for data collection. Unlike the traditional dual-frequency cycle slip detection method, the Beidou B1, GPS L1 carrier phase combination is used instead of the B1, B2, or L1, L2 carrier phase combination, Ublox is used for data collecting. For fixing the cycle slips quickly, an improved adaptive Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm is employed. We compared the performance of the new method with the existing two methods using simulated data in different conditions. The results show that the proposed method has better performance than other methods.

Abstract:The processing of cycle slip is one of the key techniques of carrier-phase-based high-precision positioning. As for the poor performance of the single-station inertial-aided cycle slip detection based on the tightly coupled integration system using pseudorange and Doppler measurements under inaccurate lever arm conditions, an improved real-time method based on ARIMA-GARCH (autoregressive integrated moving average-generalized autoregressive conditional heteroscedastic) model is proposed. The ARIMA (1, 1, 0) model is used to detrend the fundamental test statistics, and then, the GARCH (1,1) model is used to estimate the conditional variance of the residuals with the characteristics of volatility clustering. Considering the needs for real-time applications, two algorithms with model parameters varied at every epoch and periodically, respectively, are proposed. Two kinds of numerical experiments based on the real data collected from vehicular and flight tests are carried out. The results show that the proposed method can not only greatly reduce the false alarm rate but also can detect simulated 1-cycle slips for all frequencies of all satellites of BDS (BeiDou System) and the period-varied algorithm is recommended due to its good performance of cycle slip detection and low computation cost online.

Besides, detecting combinations for Compass and GPS are presented respectively in this paper based on the results of simulations. Abstract:A novel approach is proposed for the path tracking of a Wheeled Mobile Robot (WMR) in the presence of an unknown lateral slip. Much of the existing work has assumed pure rolling conditions between the wheel and ground. Under the pure rolling conditions, the wheels of a WMR are supposed to roll without slipping. Complex wheel-ground interactions, acceleration and steering system noise are the factors which cause WMR wheel slip. A basic research problem in this context is localization and slip estimation of WMR from a stream of noisy sensors data when the robot is moving on a slippery surface, or moving at a high speed. DecaWave based ranging system and Particle Filter (PF) are good candidates to estimate the location of WMR indoors and outdoors. Unfortunately, wheel-slip of WMR limits the ultimate performance that can be achieved by real-world implementation of the PF, because location estimation systems typically partially rely on the robot heading. A small error in the WMR heading leads to a large error in location estimation of the PF because of its cumulative nature. In order to enhance the tracking and localization performance of the PF in the environments where the main reason for an error in the PF location estimation is angular noise, two methods were used for heading estimation of the WMR (1): Reinforcement Learning (RL) and (2): Location-based Heading Estimation (LHE). Trilateration is applied to DecaWave based ranging system for calculating the probable location of WMR, this noisy location along with PF current mean is used to estimate the WMR heading by using the above two methods. Beside the WMR location calculation, DecaWave based ranging system is also used to update the PF weights. The localization and tracking performance of the PF is significantly improved through incorporating heading error in localization by applying RL and LHE. Desired trajectory information is then used to develop an algorithm for extracting the lateral slip along X- and Y-axis from the PF estimated position of the WMR, the lateral slip along X- and Y-axis is then used to take some corrective measures. Lateral slip information is also used to find the direction along which WMR has to move to get back along the desired trajectory. Simulation results show that our proposed LHE and RL heading estimation methods significantly improve the PF localization and tracking performance on a slippery surface in both indoor and outdoor environments. The simulation results also show that the accurate locations of WMR and desired path information are used to estimate and compensate the lateral slip.

Abstract:In high-precision GNSS positioning, detecting and repairing cycle slips are very crucial. With the increasing wide application of precise point positioning (PPP), an efficient and reliable cycle-slip detection and repair method for undifferenced data is indispensable. In order to improve the reliability of cycle-slip detection and repairing, a new cycle-slip detecting and repairing approach is proposed based on the characteristics of multi-frequency carrier phase. The equations are constituted by combining a ultra-wide lane M-W(Moulborne Wuebbena) method with ionosphere residuals, which can resolve the cycle-slips at each frequency and realize the detection and repairing of the cycle-slips. Experimental data prove that this approach can detect and repair large slip of 50 cycles and small slip of 1 cycle as well continuous cycle-slips. The approach can be applied to both static and dynamic positioning, which provides a new ideal for quickly and accurately detecting and repairing cycle slips of undifferenced observations.

Abstract:How to solve the multi-values and accurately detect the cycle slip of each frequency was particularly critical of dual-frequency GPS. This paper used the geometry-free phase combinations, proposed a dynamic test method to detect cycle slip outliers, which determined the cycle slip by constraining the value range of the cycle slip sequences of the dual-frequency GPS through the constantly updated its standard deviation. The dynamic test of cycle slip detection and repair method has been tested by using GPS data with sampling interval of 1s, 5s, 10 s and 15s. The method can not only solve the problem of multi-values, but also accurately detect the cycle slip values at various frequencies, whether the fixed cycle slip is added to the random position or the random cycle slip is added to the random position. Experiments with four different sampling intervals, the results showed that the proposed method of cycle slip detection and repair calculation success rate reaches 98.75%.

Abstract:Cycle slip detection and repair is a prerequisite to obtain high-precision positioning based on a carrier phase. Traditional triple-frequency pseudorange and phase combination algorithm are highly sensitive to the pseudorange observation accuracy. To solve the problem, a cycle slip detection and repair algorithm based on inertial aiding for a BeiDou navigation satellite system (BDS) triple-frequency signal is proposed. To enhance the robustness, the INS-aided cycle slip detection model with double-differenced observations is derived. Then, the geometry-free phase combination is united to detect the insensitive cycle slip, and the optimal coefficient combination is selected. Furthermore, the L2-norm minimum principle is used to search and confirm the cycle slip repair value. To correct the INS error accumulated over time, the extended Kalman filter based on the BDS/INS tightly coupled system is established. The vehicular experiment is conducted to evaluate the performance of the proposed algorithm from a few aspects. The results indicate that the proposed algorithm can reliably detect and repair all cycle slips that occur in one cycle, including the small and insensitive cycle slips as well as the intensive and continuous cycle slips. Additionally, in signal-challenged environments, the cycle slips occurring 14 s after a satellite signal outage can be correctly detected and repaired.

Abstract:Carrier phase integer ambiguities must be determined for BDS-3/inertial navigation system (INS) tightly coupled (TC) integration to achieve centimetre-level positioning accuracy. However, cycle slip breaks the consistency of the integer ambiguities. Conventional multi-frequency cycle slip methods use the pseudorange; thus, requiring improvement when applied to kinematic situations. Furthermore, a concise and nonprior information-dependent model is crucial for real-time processing. In this study, an inertial-aided BDS-3 cycle slip detection and repair (I-CDR) method was developed. First, a BDS-3/INS TC model with I-CDR was created. The ionospheric delays were modelled as part of the TC states; therefore, they could be estimated and eliminated. Investigations were conducted on the effects of carrier phase noise, residual ionosphere delay, and INS-predicted position error on combined cycle slip detection (CCD) accuracy. The optimal CCDs under various frequency available configurations were determined. The effectiveness of I-CDR was demonstrated using land vehicle test data. The false alarm ratio was less than 1.0%, and the missed detection ratio was almost zero even in situations with challenging abundant 1-cycle slips in random epochs. Furthermore, the right determination ratio reached 100%. In addition, BDS-3 signal loss-recovery cases were simulated, and all cycle slips for all satellites could be repaired within 40s. I-CDR exhibits outstanding cycle slip detection and repair performance for dense 1-cycle slip and signal loss-recovery cases, demonstrating its suitability for BDS-3/INS TC integration.

Abstract:With the development of the multi-frequency GNSS, positioning process using carrier phase observations will be more and more popular especially for high precision positioning. Based on the analysis of the causes and characteristics of GPS cycle slip, an adaptive detection and modification algorithm is proposed using the wavelet threshold de-noising theory. The original double difference of GPS carrier-phase is transformed with wavelet, and the singular values in the high-frequency coefficients are replaced by linear interpolation. Then the signal is reconstructed with the replaced high-frequency coefficients and the original low-frequency parts. The difference between the reconstructed signal and the original one is applied for cycle slip detection. The time and correction value of cycle slip are determined by the modulus maxima of the difference signal. Finally, an experiment was taken to test the method, and it shows that the method is effective for detecting and modifying the cycle slips of minimum value of one cycle, with minimum interval of one epoch. The measurements without cycle slips are processed with an improved Kalman filter to get more accurate positioning results.

Abstract:A Gaussian random-phase screen (GRPS) model is proposed to represent the low-frequency wave-front deformation in inter-satellite laser-communication links. The model is used to investigate mutual-alignment errors comprising pointing and tracking errors caused by the low-frequency deformation. Theoretical analysis and numerical simulation show that the GRPS root-mean-square (RMS) value, pointing error, and tracking error increase with the amplitude factor and the scale length in the model. The expectation of RMS increases in the form of a linear function with and increases in the form of a cubic function with . The expectations of the pointing and tracking errors increase with increases in the expected values for and . For a specific pointing error or tracking error, the 99.5% confidence interval of the RMS of the low-frequency wave-front deformation is provided. From this confidence interval, the lower limit of the processing precision of optical antennas corresponding to certain mutual-alignment errors can be predicted. These conclusions are expected to be instrumental in designing inter-satellite laser-communication systems.

Abstract:High precision positioning requires correct carrier phase observation. However, signal block will cause the discontinuity of the carrier phase named as cycle slip, which will severely depress the positioning efficiency and accuracy. Triple-frequency global navigation satellite system measurements bring benefit to the detection and repair of cycle slip. We propose a modified method to detect cycle slip based on combinations of triple-frequency signals. Cycle slips on the three combinations with longer wavelengths and lower noises are determined by the geometry-free model. Then, original cycle slips on three carriers are determined uniquely by the linear equations. To deal with the insensitive cycle slips, an alternative combination is presented as a supplementary. However, the residual of the first-order time differenced ionospheric error cannot be ignored in this step or will be mistaken as cycle slip if not eliminated. To remove this interference, the residual is compensated by pre-estimations calculated by previous wide-lane combination with no cycle slips have been detected. In the end, real triple-frequency GPS data provided by IGS is processed by this method. The results show that the proposed method can detect all cycle slips in real time even under high ionospheric activity.

Abstract:Cycle slip detection is essential for achieving centimeter-level positioning using Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS). However, when dealing with single-frequency data, it is impossible to utilize observations from multiple frequencies to construct effective linear combinations for detecting cycle slips. Moreover, the data quality of low-cost receivers is relatively poor, making the process more challenging. In this study, a novel technique is presented for detecting single-frequency cycle slips in a single receiver. The approach includes additional constraints for position and clock error increments. By leveraging the random walk characteristics, the clock error increment is predicted, and the cycle slip detection term is then formulated using the position increment constraint of the odometer. Both static and dynamic experiments demonstrate that the detection term's three times standard deviation is less than 0.2 cycles. Furthermore, the method can achieve clock error increment accuracy of 6.9 mm and 3.2 mm in situations where traditional TDCP technology fails under 2 and 3 visible satellites condition, respectively. This represents a 22.47% and 64.04% improvement over the accuracy of direct prediction from the previous epoch. It avoids long-term prediction of clock error increment until divergence in complex environments and maintains the continuity of cycle slip detection. In addition, we explore the clock error increment characteristics of 10 types of receivers in 6 datasets, providing a new consideration index for the popularization of low-cost GNSS receivers from the perspective of receiver type selection.

Abstract:To enhance the accuracy and robustness of cycle slip detection and repair for triple-frequency data while minimizing the adverse effects of low satellite elevation and high ionospheric activity, a hierarchical combination algorithm for real-time cycle slip detection and repair is proposed. This algorithm begins by prioritizing the reduction of noise and ionospheric delay coefficients. It determines the optimal coefficients for the combination of observations from the BeiDou Navigation Satellite System's (BDS) Extra-Wide Lane (EWL), Wide Lane (WL), and Narrow Lane (NL). Leveraging the longer wavelength characteristics of the EWL combination, it simultaneously conducts cycle slip detection on the EWL combination alongside the pseudorange combination. Following this, based on the detection outcomes from the EWL combination, cycle slip detection is carried out on the WL combination. Finally, using the detection findings from the WL combination, cycle slip detection is executed on the NL combination. Given the NL combination's shorter wavelength and higher susceptibility to ionospheric delay, a dynamic ionospheric prediction model is applied to the NL combination to further mitigate the impact of ionospheric disturbances. After completing the cycle slip detection process, the results from the EWL, WL, and NL combinations are integrated and solved. Experimental results clearly demonstrate that, even in scenarios characterized by low satellite elevation and active ionospheric conditions, this algorithm consistently delivers outstanding detection performance for cycle slip instances, particularly for small cycle slip (less then two cycles). Remarkably, this performance is achieved without the need for intricate searches during cycle slip repair.

Abstract:A satellite navigation system makes it simple to find and navigate to a specific position. Although a carrier measurement is required to establish a precise position due to the characteristics of the carrier observation, it is difficult to determine a robust position in a poor signal reception environment such as urban areas. Various studies are being carried out to overcome this problem, with cycle slips being the most important factor. With only a single frequency, it is very challenging to detect cycle slips in multiple satellite channels at the same time. A geometry-based technique is proposed in this study as a technical solution for detecting simultaneous cycle slips for multiple channels utilizing only a single-frequency receiver. The method could detect a half-wavelength size of cycle slip for each channel through the geometry information.

Abstract:This paper designs an embedded displacement measuring device based on error separating technique of multi-circle overlapping three-probe method. Considering the requirement of high precision and high speed of modern CNC machine, high accuracy CCD laser displacement sensor is used in the system to measure the rotating spindle, and then the device send the result to PC for further analysis by error separating software. According to the experiment, the roundness errors separated by such method are totally similar, rotation accuracy increase as rotation speed accelerated in a certain speed. All of these are realistic.

Abstract:The global navigation satellite system (GNSS) is a crucial technical tool used for precisely determining the orbit of low earth orbit (LEO) satellites. However, due to the short arc length of spaceborne GNSS observations and the presence of numerous outliers, there is a high rate of misjudgment of cycle slips, which leads to a decrease in orbit determination accuracy. To address this issue, we propose a linear-fit forward and backward moving window averaging (LFBMWA) algorithm and a modified second-order time-difference phase Ionospheric residual (MSTPIR) algorithm to minimize cycle slip misjudgment by suppressing the impact of outliers. Simulation experiments show that the traditional method using FBMWA and STPIR has an 85.53% misjudgment rate, while the proposed method using LFBMWA and MSTPIR reduces it to 13.79%, representing a reduction of over 70 percentage points. Additionally, the proposed method successfully detects all cycle slips. For the GRACE-C and GRACE-D satellites from day 1 to day 250 of 2022, the three-dimensional orbit errors using the proposed method are 3.35 cm and 3.24 cm, respectively, representing a reduction of 30.9% and 32.8% compared to traditional methods. Therefore, the proposed method performs well and can be used as an effective tool for cycle slip detection.
