Abstract:A new compound, named daphnolin (1), was isolated from the stem barks of Daphne giraldii Nitsche. Its structure was elucidated as 8-hydroxy-7-O-beta-D-glucopyranosyl-5-(2oxo-2H-1-benzopyran-7-hydroxy-8-yloxy)-2H-1-benzopyran-2-one by means of NMR and MS analysis.

Abstract:Two new bis-coumarin glycosides were isolated from the stem barks of Daphne giraldii NITSCHE. Their structures were elucidated as 6-O-alpha-L-rhamnnopyranosyl daphnogirin (1), and 6-O-beta-D-apiofuranosyl daphnogirin (2), on the basis of detailed spectroscopic analysis. Compounds 1 and 2 were tested inhibitory effects against production of nitric oxide (NO) in RAW264.7 cells, and cytotoxicity of human tumor cell lines A549, LOVO, QGY-7703, 6T-CEM. The results showed that compounds 1 and 2 neither reduced production of NO, nor inhibited human tumor cell lines.

Abstract:A new flavonoid glycoside, 5-methoxy-7-beta-D-glucopyranosyl-( - )-afzelechin (1), together with seven known flavonoids, 7-O-beta-D-glucopyranosyl-( - )-epiafzelechin (2), sakuranin (3), genkwanin (4), 4 ',5-dihydroxy- 3 ',7-dimethoxyflavone (5), luteolin-3 ',7-dimethyl ether-5-beta-D-glucoside (6), and luteolin-7-methyl ether-5-beta-D-glucoside (7), were isolated from the stem barks of Daphne giraldii. Their structures were identified on the basis of spectroscopic analysis. Compounds 2, 3, and 5-8 were first reported from the titled plant.

Abstract:Phytochemical characterization of the stem and root bark of Daphne giraldii Nitsche. led to the isolation of eight flavones (1–8), six flavans (9–14) and six coumarins (15–20). The structures of these compounds were examined with spectroscopic methods, and also by comparing to previously reported spectroscopic data. Among them, ten compounds (1–3, 9 and 15–20) are reported for the first time for this species, and all compounds with prenyl substitutions have not been identified in other species of genus Daphne, or even in the family Thymelaeaceae. We also describe the chemotaxonomic significance of these compounds.

Abstract:To study the chemical constituents of the leaves of Daphne giraldiiNitsche.Extraction,solvent-solvent partition and column chromatographic techniques were employed for the isolation and purification of the ingredients.The structures were elucidated on the basis spectral data(1HNMR,13CNMR) and chemical evidences.Seven compounds were determined as umbelliferone(1),7-hydroxy-8-methoxy-coumar(2),nonacosane(3),4',7-dihydroxy-5-methoxyflavone(4),daphnetin(5),daucosterol(6),sitosterol(7).Compounds 1-4,6 and 7 are isolated from the leaves of Daphne giraldiiNitsche.for the first time.The study provided scientific proof for the exploitation and utiliza-tion of the leaves of Daphne giraldiiNitsche.

Abstract:A new alkaloid, daphenylline (1), with an unprecedented rearranged 22-nor-calyciphylline skeleton, was isolated from the fruits of Daphniphyllum longeracemosum. Abstract:The phenolic constituents were isolated and repeatedly purified by silica gel column chromatography from Daphne odora Thunb.var.atrocaulis Rehd.The structures were identified by the NMR spectra and physico-chemical properties.Six compounds were obtained and identified as daphneolone,daphnoretin-7-O-glucoside,D-primeversyl genkwanine,daphnodorin D 1,daphnodorin D 2 and syringin.All compounds were obtained from this plant for the first time.

Abstract:Two new phenolic constituents, daphnenone (1) and daphneone (2), were isolated from the stem bark of Daphne odora Thunb. var. marginata. Their structures were established on the basis of spectroscopic analysis. Compounds 1 and 2 were tested for cytotoxic activity by MTT assays on five human tumour cell lines, K562, A549, MCF-7, LOVO and HepG2. Compound 1 showed obvious cytotoxic activity against all the five cell lines.

Abstract:One new naphthalene derivative, 1,8-dihydroxynaphthol-1-O-α-l-rhamnopyranoside (1), together with one known α-dibenzopyrone, alternariol (2), and five xanthones (3-7) were isolated from the sponge-derived fungus Arthrinium sp. ZSDS1-F3. All the isolated compounds (1-7) were established by comprehensive analysis of the spectral data, especially 1D and 2D NMR (HMQC and HMBC) spectra. In the primary bioassays, compound 3 exhibited moderate COX-2 inhibition, with IC50 values of 12.2 μM.

Abstract:A new phenanthraquinone, 7,9-dihydroxy-2-methoxy-1,4-phenanthraquinone ( 1 ), and nine known compounds were isolated and identified from the whole plants of Dendrobium lindleyi . The structure of the new compound was determined on the basis of NMR (1D and 2D) and mass spectroscopic analysis. The new compound exhibited potent antimicrobial activity against Bacillus subtilis and Escherichia coli , and its activity was comparable with that of the well-known antibacterial drug berberine.

Abstract:A novel bibenzyl, a new bibenzyl, two new phenanthrenes, and a new lignin glycoside, namely longicornuol A (1), 4-[2-(3-hdroxyphenol)-1-methoxyethyl]-2,6-dimethoxyphenol (2), 5-hydroxy-7-methoxy-9,10-dihydrophenanthrene-1,4-dione (3), 7-methoxy-9,10-dihydrophenanthrene-2,4,5-triol (4) and erythro-1-(4-O-beta-D-glucopyranosyl-3-methoxyphenyl)-2-[4-(3-hydroxypropyl)-2,6-dimethoxyphenoxy]-1,3-propanediol ( 5), together with 14 known compounds, were isolated from the stems of Dendrobium longicornu. All structures were elucidated by spectroscopic methods (NMR, MS, UV and IR). Anti-platelet aggregation activities of compounds 1 - 5 were also tested.

Abstract:Mangrove Streptomyces represent a rich source of novel bioactive compounds in medicinal research. A novel alkaloid, named 1-N-methyl-3-methylamino-[N-butanoic acid-3¢-(9¢-methyl-8¢-propen-7¢-one)-amide]-benzo[f][1,7]naphthyridine-2-one (1) was isolated from Streptomyces albogriseolus originating from mangrove sediments. The structure of compound 1 was elucidated by extensive spectroscopic data analyses and verified by the 13C-NMR calculation at the B3LYP/6-311+G(2d,p) level of theory.

Abstract:Two new flavanes, named daphneflavan B (1) and daphneflavan C (2), along with two known biflavonoids, daphnodorin D1 (3) and daphnodorin D2 (4), were isolated from the roots of Daphne tangutica Maxim. Their structures were established on the basis of chemical, physicochemical, and spectroscopic evidences. Two compounds 3 and 4 were noted to have the most marked antitumor activity in vivo assay.
