Abstract:The construction and performance of a surface plasmon resonance imaging (SPRI) biochemical sensing system for the clinical and drug applications is described. Surface plasmon resonance (SPR) is a versatile technique for label-free, high sensitive, real time detection of biomolecular binding events. The instrument uses a structure with a red laser light source, a prism, an objective lens and a two dimension high resolution CCD camera to implement high resolution cells detection. Microarray sensor chips are developed by MEMS technology and shown images in the SPRI system. Living liver tumor cells were cultured on the sensor chips. Cellular response to epidermal growth factors (EGF) was studied based on the SPRI system. Furthermore, the antitumor drug of Endostar was studied and the cellular response to EGF was suppressed by the treatment of Endostar, which suggested that SPRI may function as a method for studying the effect of antitumor drugs.
