Abstract:In order to compare the differences between normal coal and tectonic coal, 114 specimens taken. from the Upper Permian System in South China and the Perm-Carboniferous System in North China were investigated using MPV-3, SEM, XRD and ESR. The results revealed some significant differences between normal coal and tectonic coal in both morphology and microstructures.Observed through naked eyes, microscope and scanning electronic microscope, tectonic coal possesses cataclastic, granular and flowing structure, and its bireflectance (gap between mean-maximum and mean-minimum reflectance) rises slightly, whereas normal coal does linear, focus-like, and fibriform structure.Characterized with XRD, it was found that L-c of tectonic coal aromatic stacks in bituminous coal rank and La of that in anthracite coal is larger than one of normal coal aromatic stacks.The data of EPR parameters show that Ng value increases with increase of the deformed degree from low to middle bituminous coals, while the Ng value demonstrates a reverse tendency in higher coal rank.
