Abstract:A similar method to the H-F method for particles is developed to determine the structure of the pairs. A scheme for dealing with the problem caused by the seniority mixing is also proposed. In this scheme the independent D pairs are constructed by the seniority particles introduced in this paper, and the definition of the S pair is modified in order that it can commute with the D pairs.

Abstract:Nuclear pairing energy of dozens of atomic nuclei in nuclear period chart are calculated along the stable line by extracting the swatch at a proton or neutron number interval of 4. Especially, we have studied the rule of pairing energy of the even-even nuclei of O isotopes changing with nucleon number under the relativistic mean-field model, and found, when energy gap Δ is fixed, the magnitude of nuclear pairing energy is related to nuclear shell structure. Thereof we propose a simple method to test closed shell, and further, we conclude that the neutron number N=6 is a new magic number not only in neutron-rich region, but also in proton-rich region of light nuclei.

Abstract:In the framework of relativistic mean-field theory, the strength of the pairing force is systematically studied for several isotope chains of rare-earth nuclei. It is shown, for the first time, that the pairing strength of the neutron, G(n), increases dramatically around the magic number N = 82, while for the proton it is strongly related to the odd-even difference of the neutron number. The results indicate a strong correlation between the shell structure and the pairing force strength.

Meanwhile, the potentials of the isoscalar channels are deep enough to yield the molecular states. We obtain the masses of the $[DN]_{J=1/2}^{I=0}$, $[D^\ast N]_{J=1/2}^{I=0}$ and $[D^\ast N]_{J=3/2}^{I=0}$ systems to be $2792.0$ MeV, $2943.6$ MeV and $2938.4$ MeV, respectively. Abstract:The nucleon-nucleon pairing forces were studied under the relativistic mean-field theory with the paring corrections by BCS approximation.The coupled equations of motion were solved by self-consistency with the interaction parameter set NL3.The gap parameters were fixed by reproducing ground state properties of 11950Sn,14058Ce,and 17871Lu.The properties of two medium isotope chains Ca and K and three heavy isotope chains Ce,Pr and Nd were investigated.The results indicated that the strength of the pairing forces Gn and Gp have a strong shell effects for the medium(N=20 and 28) and heavy nuclei(N=82) near the β stability line,thus a new method to search new magic numbers was provided.

Abstract:An earlier work dealing with low-lying collective states in nuclei is revised and improved. Correlated and independent nucleon S and D pairs properly modified so that they behave approximately like bosoms are constructed in terms of which a model space for low-lying collective states is defined, and a microscopic basis for IBM is thus set up. AII dynamical variables can also be "bosonized", i.e., expressed in terms of these "bosons" but with state-dependent coefficients or operators;to incorporate their state dependence in model space.

Abstract:In axially symmetric nuclei, three forms of paired states can be constructed, i.e., monopole pair, signature pair and +/-Omega pair, which are the eigenstates of (J(2), J(z)), (J(z)(2), R-x(pi)), and J(z), respectively. In the cranked shell model, though the energy spectra at omega = 0 are the same for three types of pair interactions, the spectra and spin alignments for omega not equal 0 are different to a certain extent. it is found that the omega variation of the pair transfer amplitude, particularly the diabolic pair transfer, is quite different for different pair interactions.

Abstract:The ground state properties of the four isotope chains, Ni-28, Xe-54, (78)pt, Pu-94 are studied in the relativistic mean-field theory by using two sets of parameters, NL-3 and NL-Z. We find that the binding energies of odd-A nuclei are even closer to the corresponding experimental results, compared with those of the even-even nuclei. Our results indicate that it is reliable to neglect the space component of the vector meson fields in calculating binding energies of odd-A nuclei in the relativistic mean-field theory.

Abstract:Inspired by the newly observed Tcc+ state, we systematically investigate the S -wave triple-charm molecular states composed of D*D*D and D*D*D* . We employ the one-boson-exchange model to derive the interactions between D(D*) and D* and solve the three-body Schrödinger equations with the Gaussian expansion method. The S−D mixing and coupled channel effects are carefully assessed in our study. Our results show that the I(JP)=12(0−,1−,2−)D*D*D and I(JP)=12(0−,1−,2−,3−)D*D*D* systems could form bound states, which can be viewed as three-body hadronic molecules. We present not only the binding energies of the three-body bound states, but also the root-mean-square radii of D−D* and D*−D* , which further corroborate the molecular nature of these states. Nucleon-pair coupling scheme in Elliott's SU(3) model

Abstract:Elliott's SU(3) model is at the basis of the shell-model description of rotational motion in atomic nuclei. We demonstrate that SU(3) symmetry can be realized in a truncated shell-model space if constructed in terms of a sufficient number of collective $S$, $D$, $G$, $\dots$ pairs (i.e., with angular momentum zero, two, four, $\dots$) and if the structure of the pairs is optimally determined either by a conjugate-gradient minimization method or from a Hartree-Fock intrinsic state. We illustrate the procedure for 6 protons and 6 neutrons in the $pf$ ($sdg$) shell and exactly reproduce the level energies and electric quadrupole properties of the ground-state rotational band with $SDG$ ($SDGI$) pairs. The $SD$-pair approximation without significant renormalization, on the other hand, cannot describe the full SU(3) collectivity. A mapping from Elliott's fermionic SU(3) model to systems with $s$, $d$, $g$, $\dots$ bosons provides insight into the existence of a decoupled collective subspace in terms of $S$, $D$, $G$, $\dots$ pairs.

Abstract:We present a systematic investigation of the possible molecular states composed of a pair of doubly charmed baryons (Xi(cc)Xi(cc)) or one doubly charmed baryon and one doubly charmed antibaryon (Xi(cc)(Xi) over bar (cc)) within the framework of the one-boson-exchange-potential model. For the spin-triplet systems, we take into account the mixing between the S-3(1) and D-3(1) channels. For the baryon-baryon system Xi(cc)Xi(cc) with (R, I) = d ((3) over bar, 1/2) and d ((3) over bar, 0), where R and I represent the group representation and the isospin of the system, respectively, there exist loosely bound molecular states. For the baryon-antibaryon system Xi(cc)(Xi) over bar (cc) with (R, I) = (8, 1), (8, 1/2) and (8,0), there also exist deuteron-like molecules. The B-cc(B) over bar (cc) molecular states may be produced at LHC. The proximity of their masses to the threshold of two doubly charmed baryons provides a clean clue to identify them.

Abstract:In order to study the nucleon-nucleon pairing effects in clustering nuclei, we formulate a superposed Tohsaki-Horiuchi-Schuck-R\"opke (THSR) wave function, which includes both molecular-orbit and pairing configurations explicitly. With this new wave function, we investigate the anomalous deuteronlike $pn$-pairing effect in $^{10}\mathrm{B}$ with $T=0$ and $S=1$ (isoscalar) by comparing with isovector $NN$ pairs $(T=1,S=0)$ in $^{10}\mathrm{Be}$ and $^{10}\mathrm{C}$. Energies are calculated for the ground states of $^{10}\mathrm{Be},^{10}\mathrm{B}$ and $^{10}\mathrm{C}$ nuclei, and the ${1}_{1}^{+}0$ excited state of $^{10}\mathrm{B}$. These energies are essentially improved comparing with studies using a previous version of THSR wave function. Furthermore, overlaps between the total wave function and the pairing component indicate that the $NN$ pairing effect is more visible in $^{10}\mathrm{B}$ than in $^{10}\mathrm{Be}$ and $^{10}\mathrm{C}$. By analyzing the energies and the overlaps between wave function components, we observe two different mechanisms enhancing the formation of deuteronlike pairs in $^{10}\mathrm{B}$. We also discuss the pairing effect by showing average distances between components in each nucleus and density distributions of valence nucleons.

Abstract:Background: The appearance of the pairing condensate is an essential feature of many-fermion systems. There are two possible types of pairing: spin-singlet and spin-triplet. However, an open question remains as to whether the spin-triplet pairing condensate emerges in finite nuclei. Purpose: The aim of this work is to examine the coexistence of the spin-singlet and spin-triplet like-particle pairing condensates in nuclei. We also discuss the dependence on the type of pairing functional. Method: The Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov calculations with a Skyrme + local-pair energy-density functional (EDF) are performed to investigate the pairing condensate in the spherical ground states of Ca and Sn isotopes. Results: The spin-singlet pair EDF induces not only the spin-singlet but also the spin-triplet pairing condensates due to a strong spin-orbit splitting. By discarding the spin-orbit EDF, only the spin-singlet pairing condensate appears. The spin-triplet pair EDF, however, induces the spin-orbit splitting and accordingly the spin-singlet pairing condensate. Conclusions: The spin-orbit splitting plays an essential role in the coexistence of the spin-singlet and spin-triplet pairing condensates in nuclei. Thermodynamics of Pairing Transition in Hot Nuclei

Abstract:The pairing correlations in hot nuclei ^162Dy are investigated in terms of the thermodynamical properties by covariant density functional theory. The heat capacities C_V are evaluated in the canonical ensemble theory and the paring correlations are treated by a shell-model-like approach, in which the particle number is conserved exactly. A S-shaped heat capacity curve, which agrees qualitatively with the experimental data, has been obtained and analyzed in details. It is found that the one-pair-broken states play crucial roles in the appearance of the S shape of the heat capacity curve. Moreover, due to the effect of the particle-number conservation, the pairing gap varies smoothly with the temperature, which indicates a gradual transition from the superfluid to the normal state.

Abstract:We study a model electrochemical thin film at dc currents exceeding the classical diffusion-limited value. The mathematical problem involves the steady Poisson-Nernst-Planck equations for a binary electrolyte with nonlinear boundary conditions for reaction kinetics and Stern-layer capacitance, as well as an integral constraint on the number of anions. At the limiting current, we find a nested boundary layer structure at the cathode, which is required by the reaction boundary condition. Above the limiting current, a depletion of anions generally characterizes the cathode side of the cell. In this regime, we derive leading-order asymptotic approximations for the (i) classical bulk space-charge layer and (ii) another, nested highly charged boundary layer at the cathode. The former involves an exact solution to the Nernst-Planck equations for a single, unscreened ionic species, which may apply more generally to Faradaic conduction through very thin insulating films. By matching expansions, we derive current-voltage relations well into the space-charge regime. Throughout our analysis, we emphasize the strong influence of the Stern-layer capacitance on cell behavior.

Abstract:Nuclear pairing gaps of normally deformed and superdeformed nuclei are investigated using the particle-number-conserving (PNC) formalism for the cranked shell model, in which the blocking effects are treated exactly. Both rotational frequency omega dependence and seniority (number of unpaired particles) nu dependence of the pairing gap (Delta) over tilde are investigated. For the ground-state bands of even-even nuclei, PNC calculations show that, in general, (Delta) over tilde decreases with increasing omega, but the omega dependence is much weaker than that calculated by the number-projected Hartree-Fock-Bogolyubov approach. For the multiquasiparticle bands (seniority nu > 2), the pairing gaps stay almost omega independent. As a function of the seniority nu, the bandhead pairing gaps (Delta) over tilde(nu, omega = 0) decrease slowly with increasing nu. Even for the highest seniority nu bands identified so far, (Delta) over tilde(nu, omega = 0) remains greater than 70% of (Delta) over tilde(nu = 0, omega = 0).
