Abstract:In order to clarify whether statistical or dynamical treatments for emission of intermediate mass fragments (IMFs) will be needed in the intermediate energy heavy ion collisions, the measured angular and energy distributions of IMF (3 less than or equal to Z less than or equal to 6) in 25 MeV/n Ar-40+(nat) Ag were analyzed by means of statistical calculation code GEMINI and quantum molecular dynamics code (QMD). While the angular distribution calculations with GEMINI code are not compatible with the experimental ones, the QMD calculations for inclusive angular distributions and energy spectra of IMF are in good agreement with the measured ones.

Abstract:Inclusive Intermediate-Mass Fragments (IMFs) were measured at seven angles for the 40Ar+natAg reaction at 25 MeV/u. The energy spectra of IMF from Li to F were obtained. A thermal model with the same parameters well fits the energy spectra of all IMFs at backward angles. These IMFs are evaporated from hot nuclei formed in an incomplete fusion process. The angular distribution and Z distribution were calculated with the statistical code GEMINI.

We compare the fragment cross sections with the predictions of the empirical EPAX parametrization of fragmentation cross-sections and Statistical Abration-Ablation model (SAA) by considering the RIBLL separator transmission rate. Isotope yield ratios between these two reactions were calculated and isoscaling parameters α and β are extracted, their dependences on fragment atomic number Z and neutron number N were presented.

Abstract:The experimental data of the isotopic distribution for projectile-like fragments are presented for the 17,18N + 197Au reaction at 33 MeV/u. The width of the isotopic distributions for 18N projectile is significantly broader than that for 17N projectile, and the average N/Z ratio of the former shifts to higher neutron number side. As long as the realistic nucleon density distribution is used, the isotopic distribution for fragments is reproduced by the simple abrasion-ablation model calculation, which thus provides an independent way to determine the surface distribution of the nuclear matter density for neutron-rich nuclei.

Abstract:Fragments produced in the reaction of 60MeV/n O-18 On Be have been measured experimentally. The isotopic distribution of fragmentation reaction is well reproduced by a modified statistical abrasion-ablation model. It is predicted that the isotopic distribution shifts toward the neutron rich side for neutron rich projectile, but this isospin effect decreases with the increase of the atomic number difference Z - Z(A) and disappears at last, where Z and Z(A) are atomic numbers of the isotopic distribution and the projectile respectively.

Abstract:We present the experimental isotopic distributions of the N-18 projectile fragmentation products Li, Be, B and C in coincidence with neutrons, as well as the inclusive ones on Au-197 and Be-9 targets. In the framework of the abrasion-ablation model, these distributions are calculated for various nucleon density distributions of the projectile. The comparison with experimental isotopic distributions of the projectile-like fragments in coincidence with neutrons shows that the information on the nucleon density distribution of the N-18 projectile can be extracted.

Abstract:Energy and angular distributions of a fragments produced in 25Mev/u He-6 + Be-9 break-up reaction were measured. We calculated double differential cross section and angle distribution of He-4 fragment for He-6 breakup reaction in terms of direct process theory including nuclear diffraction dissociation and stripping process based on Serber model. The influence of the diffraction dissociation and abrasion process to the break-up reaction is investigated by the Serber model. The theoretical analysis indicates that the large breakup cross section of He-6 comes mainly from the low two-neutron separation energy, but the difference of radius size between He-6 and Li-6 has small influence on the results.

Abstract:In the reaction induced by 33.4MeV/u N-17 beam on Au-197, the coincident measurment between neutron and fragment was performed with the different combinations of 16 neutron detectors at 4degrees-83degrees and 14 telescopes at 2.3degrees-9.0degrees. Integrating the measured angular distributions of the different isotopes, the isotopic yield distributions of Z = 3-6 elements are obtained. Based on the Abrasion- Ablation model, isotopic yield distributions are calculated using different density distributions for the projectile N-17 and compared with the experiment data.

Abstract:Fission fragments resulting from the fission of target-like nuclei produced in the $^{40}\mathrm{Ar}+^{197}\mathrm{Au}$ reaction at 35 MeV/u are measured in coincidence with the emitted light charged particles (LCPs). Comparison of the $N/Z$ composition of the LCPs at middle and large angles in the laboratory frame shows that particles emitted at smaller angles, which contain a larger contribution from dynamical emission, are more neutron rich. A moving-source model is used to fit the energy spectra of the hydrogen isotopes. A hierarchy from proton to deuteron and triton is observed in the multiplicity ratio between the intermediate velocity source and the compound nucleus source. This ratio is sensitive to the dynamical emission at early stages of the reaction and to statistical emission lasting up to the scission point. Calculations with the improved quantum molecular dynamics (ImQMD) transport-model qualitatively support the picture that more free and bound neutrons are emitted during the early stage, showing a clear dependence of $N/Z$ on the parametrization of the symmetry energy. The time-dependent isospin composition of the emitted particles thus may be used to probe the symmetry energy at subsaturation densities.
