Abstract:All Solution processed photovoltaic devices based oil conjugated polymer/nanocrystal hybrid materials offer the potential toward fabricating low-cost, large area and mechanically flexible solar cells. In this article, the mechanisms of charge separation and transport in the solar cells based on polymer/nanocrystal (nanoparticles, nanorods) composites will be present. Carrier dynamics in the polymer/nanocrystal composites are investigated by temperature dependent and time-resolved photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy and time of flight (TOF) technique. Rapid exciton dissociation at the polymer/nanocrystal interfaces leading to efficient charge separation, accompanying with a significant quench in the photoluminescence (PL) intensity and a decrease of PI, lifetime with increasing nanocrystal concentrations. The separated carriers are transported through the device to the electrodes without recombining with oppositely charged carriers. The improvement in carrier transport can be further achieved by the inclusion of one-dimensional semiconductor nanorods which can offer direct pathways for electric conduction, Supported by TOF mobility measurement. In addition, the efficiency of charge separation and transport in the polymer/nanocrystal composite call be further improved by Surface treatment at polymer/nanocrystal interfaces.
