Abstract:In this paper, the bifurcation phenomena of a neural model with distributed. delay is investigated. Some computer simulations illustrate correctness of the results.

Abstract:In this paper, a two-neuron network with different time delays is investigated. By analyzing the associated characteristic equation, we obtain the conditions for delay-dependent and delay-independent asymptotic stability, respectively. Furthermore, we find that if the delay is used as a bifurcation parameter, Hopf bifurcation would occur. The direction and stability of the bifurcating periodic solutions are determined by using the Nyquist criterion and the graphical Hopf bifurcation theorem. Some examples are included to illustrate our results.

Abstract:For a two-neuron network with self-connection and time delays, we carry out stability and bifurcation analysis. We establish that a Hopf bifurcation occurs when the total delay passes a sequence of critical values. The stability and direction of the local Hopf bifurcation are determined using the normal form method and center manifold theorem. To show that periodic solutions exist away from the bifurcation points, we establish that local Hopf branches globally extend for arbitrarily large delays.

Abstract:In this paper, a more general two-neuron model with distributed delays and weak kernel is investigated. By applying the frequency domain approach and analyzing the associated characteristic equation, the existence of bifurcation parameter point is determined. Furthermore, we found that if the mean delay is used as a bifurcation parameter, Hopf bifurcation occurs for the weak kernel. This means that a family of periodic solutions bifurcates from the equilibrium when the bifurcation parameter exceeds a critical value. The direction and stability of the bifurcating periodic solutions are determine by the Nyquist criterion and the graphical Hopf bifurcation theorem. Some numerical simulations for justifying the theoretical analysis are also given.

Abstract:In this paper, a class of complex-valued neural network model with discrete and distributed delays is proposed. Regarding the discrete time delay as the bifurcating parameter, the problem of Hopf bifurcation in the newly-proposed complex-valued neural network model is investigated under the assumption that the activation function can be separated into its real and imaginary parts. Based on the normal form theory and center manifold theorem, some sufficient conditions which determine the direction of the Hopf bifurcation and the stability of the bifurcating periodic solutions are established. Finally, a numerical example is given to illustrate the validity of the theoretical results.

Abstract:In this paper, the dynamics of a generalized two-neuron model with self-connections and distributed delays are investigated, together with the stability of the equilibrium. In particular, the conditions under which the Hopf bifurcation occurs at the equilibrium are obtained for the weak kernel. This means that a family of periodic solutions bifurcates from the equilibrium when the bifurcation parameter exceeds a critical value. Explicit algorithms for determining the stability of the bifurcating periodic solutions and the direction of the Hopf bifurcation are derived by using the theory of normal form and center manifold [20]. Some numerical simulations are given to illustrate the effectiveness of the results found. The obtained results are new and they complement previously known results.

Abstract:The paper deals with the stability and Hopf bifurcation of a class of a neuron model with reaction-diffusion and delay-dependent parameter. Based on stability and bifurcation theory, determining the delay as the bifurcation parameter, we give some criteria for stability and Hopf bifurcation. Numerical simulations are given to validate the theoretical analysis. It shows that controllers which are designed in this paper can control the occurrence of bifurcation effectively and can dominate the amplitude of the bifurcation limit cycle.

Abstract:This paper investigates the stability and Hopf bifurcation in a class of neural networks with two neurons. This model involves discrete and distributed delays described by an integral with a strong delay kernel. By analysing the distribution of roots of the characteristic equation of the associated linearized system, the conditions for creating the Hopf bifurcation can be obtained. Besides, the delay is chosen as the bifurcation parameter and we find that the equilibrium is asymptotically stable when the delay is less than a critical value while the system undergoes a Hopf bifurcation when the delay exceeds the critical value. Finally, the software package DDE-BIFTOOL is applied to neural networks and the simulation results justify the validity of our theoretical analysis.

Abstract:This paper focuses on the effect of leakage delays on the dynamics of nonlinear delay systems based on a neuron system with discrete and distributed delay. By introducing a virtual neuron, we can eliminate the impact of distributed delay and transform the original neuron system with mixed delays to an equivalent new system involving only discrete delay. This paper extends the existing works on neural networks to the case of leakage delays. We choose the leakage delay as the bifurcation parameter and analyze the role of leakage delays on the stability and Hopf bifurcation. Sufficient conditions for ensuring the neuron system to be stable, and undergoing the Hopf bifurcation are derived. Finally, by using the software package DDE-BIFTOOL, we provide the simulation results to substantiate our theoretical analysis, and give the relationship between the onset of Hopf bifurcation and the system parameters by drawing the bifurcation curves.

By regarding the half of the sum of two delays as a parameter, we first consider the existence of local Hopf bifurcations, and then derive explicit formulas for determining the direction of the Hopf bifurcations and the stability of bifurcating periodic solutions, using the normal form method and center manifold theory. Abstract:A simple delayed neural network model with four neurons is considered. Linear stability of the model is investigated by analyzing the associated characteristic equation. It is found that Hopf bifurcation occurs when the sum of four delays varies and passes a sequence of critical values. The stability and direction of the Hopf bifurcation are determined by applying the normal form theory and the center manifold theorem. An example is given and numerical simulations are performed to illustrate the obtained results. Meanwhile, the bifurcation set is provided in the appropriate parameter plane.

Abstract:The paper studies the dynamical behaviors of a recurrent neural network model consisting of three neurons with time delays through theoretical analysis and numerical simulations. The local stability of the trivial equilibrium of the network is analyzed and the sufficient conditions of the existence of Hopf bifurcation are given by discussing the associated characteristic equation. The direction and stability of the bifurcated periodic oscillations arising from Hopf bifurcation, which depend on the nonlinear terms of the network, are determined by means of the normal form and the center manifold theorem. Afterwards, numerical examples are performed to validate the theoretical analysis. The case studies of numerical simulations reach nice agreement with the theoretical results.

Abstract:We consider the synchronized periodic oscillation in a ring neural network model with two different delays in self-connection and nearest neighbor coupling. Employing the center manifold theorem and normal form method introduced by Hassard et al., we give an algorithm for determining the Hopf bifurcation properties. Using the global Hopf bifurcation theorem for FDE due to Wu and Bendixson's criterion for high-dimensional ODE due to Li and Muldowney, we obtain several groups of conditions that guarantee the model have multiple synchronized periodic solutions when the transfer coefficient or time delay is sufficiently large.
