Abstract:Flux-switching permanent magnet (FSPM) machine is a relatively novel brushless machine having magnets and concentrated windings in the stator instead of the conventional rotor-PM topology, which exhibits inherently sinusoidal PM flux-linkage, back-EMF waveforms and high torque capability. However, since the airgap field is produced by the stator-magnets alone, it is difficult to be regulated. Hence, a hybrid excitation method, i.e., introducing a set of field windings into FSPM motor is employed. In this paper, a comprehensive comparison of three field windings configurations for a new 3-phase 12-stator-slot/10-rotor-pole hybrid-excited flux-switching (HEFS) machines, including the topologies, principles and electromagnetic performance, especially for the flux-regulation capabilities in both strengthening and weakening modes, are presented based on finite element analysis. The results reveal that the excellent field-regulation capability can be achieved in the first topology of the proposed HEFS machines using Ferrite materials. Copyright Form of EVS25.
