Abstract:The effects of the-spin-orbit interaction in exotic nuclei are investigated by studying the binding energies and deformations of Si, S and Ar isotopes. The calculations were obtained by Skyrme-Hartree-Fock model with various spin-orbit potentials. The results reveal that spin-orbit potential is important in neutron rich nuclei.

Abstract:The level structures of O and F isotopes are investigated in the framework of the single-particle potential model.The isospin effect on the s-d level spacing in F isotopes is studied by introducing an isospin-dependent term in the depth of the Woods-Saxon potential.The theoretical results of RMS radii and spin-parity values are in agreement with the experimental data.In particular,the level inversion between proton levels of 2s1/2 and 1d5/2 in 16F,15F and 14F is reproduced.The global tendency of the s-d level spacing agrees with the observed fact.In addition,the study confirms the one-proton halo structure in 17F(2s1/2).

Abstract:Single particle spin-orbit interaction energy problem in nuclear shell structure is solved through negative harmonic oscillator in the self-similar-structure shell model (SSM) [4] and considering quarks' contributions on single particle spin and orbit momentum. The paper demonstrates that single particle motion in normal nuclei is described better by SSM negative harmonic oscillator than conventional shell model positive harmonic oscillator[1][2][3]. The proposed theoretical formula for spin orbit interaction energy agrees well to experiment measurements.

Critical Survey of Isoscalar and Isovector Contributions to the Spin Orbit Potential in Relativistic Mean Field Theory

Abstract:The spin-orbit (SO) interaction, emerging naturally from the Relativistic Mean Field (RMF) theory is examined critically in the light of the recently measured excitation energy differences between the terminating states built on two different configurations for nuclei belonging to the lower pf shell. The calculations are carried out using the cranked RMF framework. To further probe the iso-vector dependence of the spin-orbit potential, the energy spacing between the g_{7/2} and h_{11/2} states in the Sb-chain is compared to experiment. It is found that the calculation at the quantitative level deviates strongly from the experiment. In particular the balance of the iso-scalar and iso-vector strengths of the effective one body SO potential indicates that additional terms like tensor couplings may be needed to account for the experimental data.

Abstract:In the present work, we have reported comprehensive study of the sd -shell nuclei Si and P with neutron number varying from N=9 to N=20 using the microscopic effective valence shell interactions, namely, N3LO, JISP16 and DJ16A. These effective sd -shell interactions are developed using the ab initio no-core shell model wave functions and the Okubo-Lee-Suzuki transformation method. For comparison, we have also performed shell model calculations with the empirical USDB interaction. Energy spectra and electromagnetic properties of these isotopic chains have been studied. Theoretically calculated shell model results are compared with the available experimental data, to check the predictive strength of these microscopic interactions. It is found that the binding energies of the ground states are better reproduced with the DJ16A interaction as compared to other microscopic interactions and a proton subshell closure at Z=14 is obtained in Si. Spin-tensor decomposition of two-body interaction is presented to understand the contributions from central, vector and tensor components into these interactions. Spectroscopic strengths of 23 Al( d , n ) 24 Si are examined for the newly performed experiment at NSCL.

Abstract:Within the framework of isospin-dependent quantum molecular dynamics model,isotopic distributions in the reactions of 112Sn+112Sn and 124Sn+124 Sn at 40 and 100 MeV/u are investigated.It is found that the isotopic distribution has a significant isospin effect at 40 MeV/u,but the isospin effect disppears at 100 MeV/u.By investigating mechanical and chemical instabilities at different energies,we find that the energy dependence of isospin effects on isotopic distributions results from the competition between mechanical instabilities and chemical instabilities at different energies.

Abstract:The binding energies of Al isotopes are investigated by using the Skyrme-Hartree-Fock approach with the SKIII force parameter. Special emphasis is placed on the influence of the isospin effect of the pairing correlation on the proton separation energy. Calculations show that the Skyrme-Hartree-Fock approach provides a good description of the binding energy of Al isotopes with different forms of pairing correlation. Meanwhile, it is found that the isospin effect of the pairing correlation plays a great role to the separation energy when the Al isotopes approach the proton drip line.

Abstract:Using the finite-range Gogny interaction,the equation of state(EOS) and the single-particle potential as well as their isospin dependence in isospin asymmetric nuclear matter is studied.By comparison with other models and empirical values,we show the limitation of the Gogny interactions D1,D1S and D1N,and necessity of a new parameterization of Gogny interaction.

Abstract:We extend a tight-binding method to include the effects of spin-orbit coupling, and apply it to the study of the electronic properties of the actinide elements Th, U, and Pu. These tight-binding parameters are determined for the fcc crystal structure using the equivalent equilibrium volumes. In terms of the single particle energies and the electronic density of states, the overall quality of the tight-binding representation is excellent and of the same quality as without spin-orbit coupling. The values of the optimized tight-binding spin-orbit coupling parameters are comparable to those determined from purely atomic calculations.

Abstract:Background: The deviation between different model calculations that may occur when one goes toward regions where the masses are unknown is getting increased attention. This is related to the uncertainties of the different models which may have not been fully understood.Purpose: To explore in detail the effect of the isospin dependence of the spin-orbital force in the Woods-Saxon potential on global binding energy and deformation calculations.Method: The microscopic energies and nuclear deformations of about 1850 even-even nuclei are calculated systematically within the macroscopic-microscopic framework using three Woods-Saxon parametrizations, with different isospin dependencies, which were constructed mainly for nuclear spectroscopy calculations. Calculations are performed in the deformation space (beta(2), gamma, beta(4)). Calculations are also compared with the results of other macroscopic-microscopic mass models.Conclusions: All the three calculations give similar values for the deformations, microscopic energies, and binding energies of most nuclei. One may expect to have a better understanding of the isospin dependence of the spin-orbital force with more data on proton- and neutron-rich nuclei.

Isospin Effects On Collective Flow In Hic At Intermediate Energies

Abstract:Based on an isospin-dependent quantum molecular dynamics model, the neutron and proton density calculated from Skyrme-Hartree-Fock theory, along with the neutron and proton Fermi momenta calculated from Fermi gas model, are used to sample stable initial nuclei, Fe-58 and Ni-58. The isospin effects on collective flow in reaction systems 55MeV / u Fe-58 + Fe-58 and 55MeV / u Ni-58 + Ni-58 are studied in detail. At different impact parameters for different types of fragments, it is shown that the neutron-rich system Fe-58 + Fe-58 has stronger collective flow than the system Ni-58 + Ni-58, which could qualitatively agree with the results of the experiments. Meanwhile, the effects of both isospin-dependent symmetry energy and nucleon-nucleon cross sections on collective flow are studied.

Abstract:In this paper, the importance of isospin symmetry and its breaking in elucidating the properties of atomic nuclei is reviewed. The quark mass splitting and the electromagnetic origin of the isospin symmetry breaking (ISB) for the nuclear many-body problem is discussed. The experimental data on isobaric analogue states cannot be described only with the Coulomb interaction, and ISB terms in the nucleon–nucleon interaction are needed to discern the observed properties. In the present work, the ISB terms are explicitly considered in nuclear energy density functional and spherical shell model approaches, and a detailed investigation of the analogue states and other properties of nuclei is performed. It is observed that isospin mixing is largest for the N = Z system in the density functional approach.

Abstract:Within the framework of an isospin-dependent quantum molecular dynamics (IQMD) model,the emission features of light particles in 112Sn+112Sn and 124Sn+124Sn are investigated at different beam energy,different impact parameter,different EOS and different nucleon-nucleon cross section.Calculations show that the ratios of light particles are consistent with the systematics of entrance channel isospin and the midrapidity region can emit more neutron-rich particles than projectiles-like rapidity.In addition,it is found that the light particle ratio is sensitive to the nuclear EOS,but not to the nucleon-nucleon cross section,which makes it possible to extract the isospin-dependent EOS.
Probing spin and pseudospin symmetries in deformed nuclei by the Green's function method

Abstract:(Pseudo)spin symmetries play vital roles in nuclear physics and have been studied extensively in spherical nuclei. In this work, possible spin and pseudospin symmetries in deformed nuclei are examined by solving a coupled-channel Dirac equation with quadruple deformation. The Green's function method is taken which provides a novel way to exactly determine the single-particle levels and properly describe the spacial density distributions. Taking axially-deformed nucleus $^{154}$Dy as an example, the spin doublets with a combination of Nilsson levels $\Lambda\pm 1/2[\mathcal{N},n_z, \Lambda]$ and pseudospin doublets with a combination of $\widetilde{\Lambda}\pm 1/2[\widetilde{\mathcal{N},n_z, \Lambda}]$ are determined. Different behaviors are displayed for the spin and pseudospin doublets. For the spin partners, those with smaller angular momentum $l$ and the third component $\Lambda$ owns better symmetry such as the $1p$ doublet while good pseudospin symmetry appears in partners locating close to the continuum threshold. By examining the single-particle Nilsson levels $\Omega[\mathcal{N},n_z,\Lambda]$ and the energy splittings between the partners, the conservation and breaking of SS and PSS are examined at different deformations. In the prolate side, the Nilsson levels for the spin and pseudospin doublets are almost parallel and the energy splittings are stable against varying deformations. By examining the density distributions, great similarities have been observed in the upper components for the spin doublets while great similarities in the lower component for the pseudospin doublets. Besides, these similarities maintain well at different deformations.

Abstract:The isospin effect of particle emission for disassembling isotopic sources of Xe-122,Xe-129,Xe-137,Xe-146 and for isobaric sources of La-129, Xe-129, Sb-129 and Cd-129 are explored in the framework of the isospin-dependent lattice gas model. The multiplicity of emitted particles, the isotopic and isobaric ratios of light particles show the strong dependence on the isospin of the dissociation source, but the double ratios of light isotopes are insensitive to the isospin. The former directly reflects the chemical composition and the latter indicates the chemical equilibrium of the source. In addition, the slopes of the average multiplicities of emitted particles to temperature and the variances of the multiplicity distributions of emitted particles are suggested as additional judgements to the critical behaviour. The critical temperatures deduced from the above slopes and variances are found to be insensitive to the isospin of the disassembling sources.

Abstract:We theoretically study the spin properties of two interacting electrons confined in the InAs parallel coupledquantum dots （CQDs） with spin-orbit interactions （SOI） by exact diagonalization method. Through the SOI inducedspin mixing of the singlet and the triplet states, we show the different spin properties for the weak and strong SOI. Weinvestigate the coherent singlet-triplet spin oscillations of the two electrons under the SOI, and demonstrate the detailedbehaviors of the spin oscillations depending on the SOI strengths, the inter-dot separations and the external magneticfields. To better understand the underlying physics of the spin dynamics, we introduce a four-level model Hamiltonianfor both weak and strong SOI, and find that the SOI induced in plane effective magnetic fields can be quantitativelyextracted from the two-electron excitation energy spectra.
Description of N = 7 ∼ 9 Isotones with a Modified Single-Particle Potential

Abstract:We study the level structures of N = 7 similar to 9 isotones and their mirror nuclei in the framework of the single-particle potential model. Considering the limitation of the conventional potential-model calculation, the isospin-dependent l(2) coupling is newly introduced in the average potential. The modified model gives a unified description for the structures of all studied nuclei. Calculations self-consistently produce the s-d level inversion in N = 9 isotones and their mirror nuclei. Meanwhile, the s-p level inversion in the mirror nuclei Be-11 and N-11 is reproduced. The study confirms the neutron halo structures in Be-11(2s(1/2)), Be-11(1p(1/2)), B-12(2s(1/2)), B-14(2s(1/2)), C-13(2s(1/2)), C-15(2s(1/2)) and the proton halo structure in F-17(2s(1/2)). The agreement between theory and experiment indicates that the inclusion of the l(2) coupling is a feasible way to explain the abnormal structures of exotic light nuclei.

Abstract:High spin states in and have been investigated using - and - coincidence studies of spontaneous fission of . Alternating parity bands built on a 7/2-level are assigned up to spin I = (37/2) and I = (29/2) in and , respectively. Another possible octupole band based on multiplet with spin up to (29/2) also is observed in both nuclei. Cascades of enhanced E1 transitions and ratios indicate strong octupole correlations. Systematics of the , and multiplets and bands in N = 85 isotones are presented.

Abstract:Using the pairing-deformation-frequency self-consistent total-Routhiansurface and configuration-constrained potential-energy-surface calculations, we have studied nuclear deformation and its effect on the structure of nuclei. It was found that the high-order multipolarity-six (β6) deformation plays a significant role in superheavy nuclei. Possible non-collective highspin isomeric states which locate in the second well of actinide nuclei have been investigated with the predictions of excitation energies and configurations. High-spin isomers can extend shape coexistence in A ∼ 190 neutrondeficient nuclei. Triaxiality with γ 30 is found in the ground and excited rotational states of the A ∼ 70 germanium isotopes. Octupole correlations have also been discussed in different mass regions. In recent experiments, the textbook nucleus 158Er has been reached at ultrahigh spins around 65∼. We have studied 158Er ultrahigh-spin states by means of the self-consistent tilted-axis-cranking method based on the Nilsson shell correction and the Skyrme-Hartree-Fock model. The calculation with a ≈ 12 ° triaxialstrongly-deformed (TSD) excited configuration can well reproduce the observed large transitional quadrupole moment. It is demonstrated that the TSD minimum at negative γdeformation which appears in the principalaxis-cranking approach is a saddle point if allowing the rotational axis to change direction.
