Abstract:The title complex has been prepared by the reaction of Mn(2,2'-bipy)Cl 2 with 1,3-benzenedicarboxylate (BDC) in ethanol solution. The complex crystallizes in space group C 2/ c with a =13.847(6), b =15.629(7), c =17.106(6) Å, g =107.90(3)° and z =8. Three BDC and one bipy ligands coordinate to Mn(II) to form a distorted octahedron. Each BDC bridges three Mn(II) atoms to form a polymeric chain. It is notable that although the Mn(II) atom deviates 1.084 Å from the bridging carboxyl plane it still has a normal coordination distance of 2.141(2) Å. This might suggest an electrostatic interaction between Mn(II) and carboxyl O atoms in the title complex. The IR spectrum is discussed, based on the molecular structure.

Abstract:The title complex [Ni(C4H4O5)(C6H6N4S2)(H2O)].2.5H(2)O has been prepared and its crystal structure was determined by X-ray diffraction method. The crystal belongs to monoclinic, space group P2(1)/n with a = 16.499(2), b 10.132(l), c 11. 177(2)Angstrom, beta = 109.76(1)degrees, V = 1758.4(4)degrees, Angstrom(3) M-r = 452.11, Z = 4, D-c = 1.708 g/cm(3), mu = 1.391 mm(-1), F(000) = 932, R 0.0424 and wR 0.1088 for 2341 observed reflections (I>2sigma(I)). The complex assumes a distorted octahedral coordination geometry formed by one oxydiacetate dianion, one diaminobithiazole and one coordinated water molecule. The parallel thiazole rings of adjacent complex molecules overlap to each other, and the separation of 3.459(7) Angstrom suggests the existence of pi-pi stacking.

Abstract:The title complex has been prepared by the reaction of [Co(Hdmg)2(NH3)2]Cl with CuCl2 in HCl solution (where Hdmg = dimethylglyoxime monoanion) and its crystal structure has been determined by X-ray diffraction. The Co(III) and Cu(II) atoms lie on different two-fold axes. The coordination geometries around the Co(III) and Cu(II) atoms are octahedral and distorted trigonal bipyramidal, respectively. The Hdmg chelates Co(III) and bridges to the Cu(III) atoms to form a polyheteronuclear helical structure along the c axis. Based on the structure the IR spectrum of the complex is discussed.

Abstract:Reaction of [MoO2(acac)(2)] (where acac = acetylacetonate) with N'-(2-hydroxy-4-diethaylaminobenzylidene)-4-hydroxybenzohydrazide (H2L) in methanol afforded a methanol-coordinated mononuclear molybdenum(VI) oxo complex, [MoO2L(MeOH)]. Crystal and molecular structure of the complex were determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction method. The complex was further characterized by elemental analysis and FT-IR spectra. Single crystal X-ray structural studies indicate that the hydrazone ligand coordinates to the MoO2 core through enolate oxygen, phenolate oxygen and azomethine nitrogen. The Mo atom in the complex is in octahedral coordination. Thermal stability of the complex has also been studied.

Abstract:The title complex, [Mn3O(C6H5COO)(6)(py)(3)]. 2CH(3)CN (py = pyridine), has been prepared. Single-crystal X-ray analysis revealed a mu(3)-oxo-bridged (Mn2MnII)-Mn-III structure, in which each manganese atom has a distorted octahedral environment. The Mn(1) atom is readily assigned as a Mn-III centre from the Mn-(mu(3)-O) distance [1.819(5) Angstrom]. The remaining Mn(2) and Mn(3) atoms are essentially equivalent in crystallography, indicating an electronic delocalization between Mn-II and Mn-III atoms. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science Ltd.

Abstract:Reaction in methanol solution of [NBu4]4[Mo8O26] with 1,3,5,7-tetraazatricyclo[3.3.1.13.7]decane (hexamethylenetetramine, hmt) and salicylaldehyde yielded the complex [Hhmt][Mo2O4(µ-O)(µ-OMe)(o-OC6H4CHNCH2NCHC6H4O-o)] which has been characterized by elemental analysis, IR and 1H NMR spectroscopy. A single-crystal analysis revealed that the complex possesses the usual Mo2O52+ core and that the Schiff-base ligand complexes in a tetradentate manner through the atoms ONON, acts forming two six-membered rings. The two Mo atoms are bridged by a methoxo group, giving each a distorted-octahedral configuration.

Abstract:The electronic structure and bonding of the dinuclear low-valent molybdenum thiolato-bridged complexes, [Mo2(μ-SR)2(CO)8]n− (n = 2, 1; n = 0, 2; R = CH2COOEt), Mo2(μ-SR)2(CO)6(NCCH3)2 (3) and [Mo2(μ-S,S-C6H4-1,2(CO)7]2− (4), have been studied using the EHMO method. On the basis of analysis of the MO energies, orbital characteristics, atomic charges and Mulliken bond orders, the possible oxidation of these complexes was discussed. The Walsh diagram shows that further two-electron oxidation of 2 would be very unlikely. However, because 4 contains a non-planar MoS2Mo bimetallic core, an irreversible one-electron oxidation in solution could take place to form a monoanion complex [Mo2(μ-S,S-C6H4-1,2)(CO)7(NCH)]1−.

Abstract:The mononuclear molybdenum complex [Mo(HL)2] (1), Mo–Mo single‐bond compound [HLClMo(µ‐Cl)3MoHLCl] [2; Mo–Mo 2.832(7) Å], and Mo≡Mo triple‐bond compounds [Mo2Cl2(µ‐HL)2] [3; Mo–Mo 2.194(6) Å] and [Mo2Cl2(µ‐Cl)(µ‐HL)Cl2Na(THF)3] [4; Mo–Mo 2.167(2) Å] have been synthesized by the reaction of HL {HL = [(2,6‐iPr2C6H3)NCH]2} with 0.5, 1, and 2 equiv. of MoCl5 and different amounts of Na metal. In the single‐bond compound 2, the α‐diimine ligand HL displays the normal chelating coordination mode. In contrast, the triple‐bond compounds 3 and 4 feature the less common bridging mode of α‐diimine ligands. Complexes 1–4 have been characterized by X‐ray diffraction, 1H and 13C NMR, IR spectroscopy, elemental analysis, and their electronic structures were studied by EPR and DFT computations.

Abstract:A novel dinuclear nickel(II) complex, [Ni 2 (MOBPT) 2 Cl 2 (H 2 O) 2 ]Cl 2 · 7H 2 O (MOBPT = 4-( p -methoxyphenyl) −3,5- bis (pyridine-2-yl)-1,2,4-triazole), has been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, IR and single crystal X-ray diffraction methods. The crystal structure determination shows that the dinuclear Ni 2 N 8 unit is almost planer in which each Ni II ion is coordinated by four nitrogen atoms from MOBPT equatorially and a water molecule and a chloride ion axially in a distorted octahedral geometry. Magnetic measurements reveal a relatively weak antiferromagnetic exchange in the complex.

Abstract:An organo-spaced molybdenum thiocomplex [H3NCH2CH2-NH3] [Mo3S13] has been synthesized under hydrothermal condition and the structure of the compound was determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The title compound crystallizes in the monoclinic space group C2/ c with a = 1.81157 (18), 6 = 1.04549(9), c = 2.04892(19) nm, β= 107.184 (2)°, Z = 8 and V = 3.7074(6) nm3. The inorganic part of the compound consists of a Mo3 triangle capped by an apical μ3-Sulfur atom, with each Mo atom being also coordinated to one terminal disulfur ligand and two bridging disulfur ligands. The negative charges on the inorganic cluster are balanced by the diprotonated ethylenediamine cations [H3NCH2CH2-NH3]2+ located in the space between the clusters.
