Abstract:In this paper, we show that the belief and plausibility measures defined on finite level fuzzy subset space are the lower and upper probabilities, respectively, of probability measures compatible with the fuzzy Dempster-Shafer (D-S) belief structure. We first introduce a probability measure which is additive on finite-level fuzzy sets space and show that the belief and plausibility measures determined by the fuzzy D-S belief structure are upper-additive and sub-additive, respectively. And then we discuss an objective function whose solutions correspond to a class of probability measures compatible with the fuzzy D-S belief structure. Lastly, a specific probability measure compatible with the fuzzy D-S belief structure is presented.

Abstract:Given a measurable space (X,F), a fuzzy measure μ on (X,F), and a nonnegative functionfonXthat is measurable with respect toF, we can define a new set function ν on (X,F) by the fuzzy integral. It is known that ν is a lower semicontinuous fuzzy measure on (X,F) and, moreover, if μ is finite, then ν is a finite fuzzy measure as well. In this paper, we generalize in several different ways the concept of absolute continuity of set functions, as defined in classical measure theory. In addition, we investigate the relationship among these generalizations by using the structural characteristics of set functions such as null-additivity and autocontinuity, and determine which types of absolute continuity of fuzzy measures are possessed by the fuzzy measure (or the lower semicontinuous fuzzy measure) obtained by the fuzzy integral.

Abstract:Fuzzy techniques are playing an increasing role in current intelligent computations and optimizations. How to reasonably describe and measure uncertain information has been becoming urgent in many practical domains such as artificial intelligence, computer techniques, optimizations and control in complex manufacturing systems. After analyzing the essence of fuzziness measures, this paper proposes the concept of fuzziness-synthesizing operator, and then obtains a general model for fuzziness measure with existing fuzziness measures as its special cases, by compounding the fuzziness-synthesizing operator and the fuzziness feature function. This helps us to find methods measuring fuzziness under distinct decision consciousness.

Abstract:Entropy of fuzzy dynamical systems has been investigated as an isomorphism invariant in Dumitrescu (1995) [13]. In this paper, we will introduce a new invariant called the conditional fuzzy entropy of fuzzy dynamical systems with respect to a finite fuzzy partition and an invariant sub-σ-algebra, which is an extension of fuzzy entropy on fuzzy dynamical systems. This new invariant possesses some basic properties, such as power rule, fuzzy version of Abramov–Rokhlin entropy additive formula and generating sequence.

Abstract:As an important model in the field of artificial intelligence, an information system is a database that stands for relationships between objects and attributes. A distributed fully fuzzy information system is an information system with distributed fully fuzzy data. This paper investigates measures of uncertainty for a distributed fully fuzzy information system. The fuzzy <math>Tcos</math>-equivalence relation, induced by a fully fuzzy information system by using Gaussian kernel method, is first obtained. Then, fuzzy information structures in a distributed fully fuzzy information system is introduced. Next, Dependency between fuzzy information structures is depicted from three aspects, information distance for calculating the difference between fuzzy information structures is proposed in the same distributed fully fuzzy information system. Moreover, properties of fuzzy information structures in a distributed fully fuzzy information system are given by means of the inclusion degree. Finally, granulation measure and entropy measure of a given distributed fully fuzzy information system is proposed by means of its fuzzy information structures. These results will be very helpful for establishing a framework of granular computing and understanding the essence of uncertainty in distributed fully fuzzy information systems.

Then the interconnections between nonadditive set-valued measure and the additive set-valued measure as well as the fuzzy measure are discussed. Finally, an approach to construct a nonadditive compact set-valued measure is presented via Aumann fuzzy integral.

Abstract:The fuzzy quantification model FA has been identified as one of the best behaved quantification models in several revisions of the field of fuzzy quantification. This model is, to our knowledge, the unique one fulfilling the strict Determiner Fuzzification Scheme axiomatic framework that does not induce the standard min and max operators. The main contribution of this paper is the proof of a convergence result that links this quantification model with the Zadeh's model when the size of the input sets tends to infinite. The convergence proof is, in any case, more general than the convergence to the Zadeh's model, being applicable to any quantitative quantifier. In addition, recent revisions papers have presented some doubts about the existence of suitable computational implementations to evaluate the FA model in practical applications. In order to prove that this model is not only a theoretical approach, we show exact algorithmic solutions for the most common linguistic quantifiers as well as an approximate implementation by means of Monte Carlo. Additionally, we will also give a general overview of the main properties fulfilled by the FA model, as a single compendium integrating the whole set of properties fulfilled by it has not been previously published.

Abstract:Fuzzy quantifiers have important applications in a great variety of fields such as database querying, data mining and knowledge discovering, inductive learning and so on. Recently, M.S.Ying introduces a novel fuzzy framework for linguistic quantifiers which are modeled by Sugeno integrals. Essentially, the conjunction and disjunction in Ying's framework are interpreted as the "min" and "max" operations, which restricts the application of this theory in some sense. In this paper, we extended Ying's framework by interpreting the conjunction and disjunction as t-norm and t-conorm respectively. And some elegant logical results for our framework have been obtained.

Abstract:The uncertainty of information plays an important role in practical applications, so how to capture the uncertainty of information systems becomes more and more popular. Uncertainty measures can supply new viewpoints for processing information systems, and they can help us in disclosing the substantive characteristics of information. Fuzzy information systems are important research objects in artificial intelligence. As a special kind of fuzzy information system, fully fuzzy information system (FFIS) is worth studying. This article is devoted to search indicators for measuring uncertainty in a FFIS according to fuzzy information structures in view of Gaussian kernel, and the fuzzy information structures can be viewed as granular structures under granular computing. Firstly, by employing Gaussian kernel for calculating similarities among objects in a FFIS, the fuzzy Tcos-similarity relation is obtained. Then, based on this relation, fuzzy information structures in a FFIS are introduced. Next, according to the information structures, granulation measure of a given FFIS is advanced. Moreover, entropy measure is also considered for a given FFIS. Finally, two numerical experiments are conducted to interpret the realistic significance and potential applications for measuring uncertainty in a FFIS. Theoretical research, numerical experiments and validity analysis make clear that the proposed measures are efficacious and applicable for a FFIS.

Abstract:In this paper, dual fuzzy rough approximation operators determined by a fuzzy implication operator I in infinite universes of discourse are first introduced. Measurable structures of I-fuzzy rough sets are then discussed. It is shown that the family of all definable sets in an I-fuzzy rough set algebra derived from a reflexive fuzzy space forms a sigma-fuzzy algebra. In a finite universe of discourse, the family of all definable sets in a serial I-fuzzy rough set algebra is a fuzzy algebra, and conversely if a sigma-fuzzy algebra is generated by a crisp algebra, then there must exist an I-fuzzy rough set algebra such that the family of all definable sets is exactly the given sigma-fuzzy algebra.

Abstract:In data processing, measurement of uncertainty is one of the significant evaluation tools, which can describe the uncertainty essence of data. So far, there are few measurable tools to study the uncertainty of type-2 fuzzy information systems (TFISs-2) (the expanded models of fuzzy information systems). This paper is devoted to looking for effective indicators to describe the uncertainty of TFISs-2. The fuzzy \(T_{\text {cos}}\)-similarity relations are first introduced, which are generated by TFISs-2 based on Gaussian kernel. Then, the fuzzy information structures are defined on account of this fuzzy \(T_{\text {cos}}\)-similarity relation. Next, two measures constructed from the upper and lower approximations are given for TFISs-2, that is, \(\delta\)-accuracy and \(\delta\)-roughness, which are used to reflect the degree of accuracy and inaccuracy of information by numerical form. Furthermore, by combining roughness and entropy, the \(\delta\)-rough entropy is investigated. Finally, the practicability of proposed measures is tested by a numerical experiment. The experimental results show that the \(\delta\)-rough entropy is efficacious and applicable for TFISs-2.

Abstract:We review recent literature on three aspects of fuzzy measures: their representations, learning optimal fuzzy measures and random generation of various types of fuzzy measures. These three aspects are interdependent: methods of learning fuzzy measures depend on their representation, and may also include random generation as one of the steps, on the other hand different representations also affect generation methods, while random generation plays an important role in simulation studies for post-hoc analysis of sets of measures learned from data and problem-specific constraints. Explicit modelling of interactions between the decision variables is a distinctive feature of integrals based on fuzzy measures, but its price is high computational complexity. To extend their range of applicability efficient representations and computational techniques are required. All three mentioned aspects provide mathematical and computational tools for novel applications of fuzzy measures and integrals in decision making and information fusion, allow scaling up significantly the domain of applicability and reduce their complexity.

Abstract:The main object of this paper is to define certain new spaces of statistically convergent and strongly summable sequences of fuzzy numbers. We give necessary and sufficient conditions for a sequence of fuzzy numbers to be fuzzy λ -statistically pre-Cauchy and fuzzy λ -statistically convergent.
