Abstract:In the title compound, [Cd-2(C7H4O6S)(2)(C12H8N2)(4)] (.) H2O, the Cd-II atoms are bridged by two 5-sulfonatosalicylate dianions, forming a centrosymmetric dinuclear complex. Each Cd atom is coordinated by four N atoms from two 1,10-phenanthroline molecules and two O atoms from two 5-sulfonatosalicylate ligands in a distorted octahedral environment. A strong pi-pi stacking interaction occurs between 1,10-phenanthroline ligands from neighboring dimers. Extensive hydrogen bonds give rise to a two-dimensional network and enhance the stability of the crystal packing.
