Abstract:The design of robust H-infinity controller for uncertain discrete-time Markovian jump systems with actuator saturation is addressed in this paper. The parameter uncertainties are assumed to be norm-bounded. Linear matrix inequality (LMI) conditions are proposed to design a set of controllers in order to satisfy the closed-loop local stability and closed-loop H-infinity performance. Using an LMI approach, a set of state feedback gains is constructed such that the set of admissible initial conditions is enlarged and formulated through solving an optimization problem. A numerical example is given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed methods.

Abstract:SUMMARYThis paper concerns the output feedback control problem for a class of uncertain continuous‐time Markovian jump systems with actuator saturation. The controller is nonlinear in nature and will be first parameterized in the quasi‐linear parameter varying form. Conditions under which the closed‐loop system is stochastically stable with γ disturbance attenuation are then derived in terms of an LMI approach. The problem of designing an output feedback controller such that the estimate of the domain of attraction is enlarged is then formulated and solved as an optimization problem with LMI constraints. The case where the transition rate matrix of the Markov process is unknown is considered, and the robust H∞ output feedback controller is then derived. Finally, a numerical example is given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed results. Copyright © 2011 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

Abstract:This paper develops an H-infinity control technique for uncertain linear time-delay systems, which takes account of not only plant uncertainty but also controller uncertainty. Considering additive controller gain variations, the paper focuses on the design of memoryless state feedback control such that the closed-loop system is quadratically stable and possesses an H-infinity disturbance attenuation bound for all admissible uncertainties and arbitrary unknown delay. With assumption that all the plant and controller uncertainties are described by time-varying but nom-bounded form, the design method is presented based on algebraic Riccati inequality, and furthermore the obtained results can be transferred to LMI problem based on Schur complements.

Abstract:This paper focuses on the problem of robust H-infinity control for linear uncertain time-delay systems with norm-bounded nonlinear uncertainty in both the state and control. Also, the time delay is time-varying and can exist both in the state and control. Using the fact that the type of nonlinear uncertainty set considered here has an equivalent representation by linear uncertainty set, we propose an approach for designing a memoryless state feedback control law which will stabilize the time-delay systems and, simultaneously, guarantee a prespecified H-infinity disturbance attenuation constraint for all admissible uncertainty.

Abstract:This paper is concerned with the robust stochastic stabilization and H∞ disturbance attenuation for uncertain discrete-time Markovian jump linear time-delay systems subject to norm-bounded parameter uncertainties. The transition of the jumping parameters is governed by a finite-state Markov process. First a sufficient condition on stochastic stability is proposed using the stochastic Lyapunov functional approach. Then sufficient conditions on robust stochastic stabilizing and γ-suboptimal H∞ memoryless state feedback controllers are presented. It is shown that a stochastic stabilizing H∞ state feedback controller can be constructed through numerical solution of a set of coupled linear matrix inequalities.

Abstract:This paper is concerned with the robust H∞ finite-time control for discrete delayed nonlinear systems with Markovian jumps and external disturbances. It is usually assumed that the disturbance affects the system states and outputs with the same influence degree of 100%, which is not evident enough to reflect the situation where the disturbance affects these two parts by different influence degrees. To tackle this problem, a probabilistic distribution denoted by binomial sequences is introduced to describe the external disturbance. Throughout the paper, the definitions of the finite-time boundedness (FTB) and the H∞ FTB are firstly given respectively. To extend the results further, a model which combines a linear dynamic system and a static nonlinear operator is referred to describe the system under discussion. Then by virtue of state feedback control method, some new sufficient criteria are derived which guarantee the FTB and H∞ FTB performances for the considered system. Finally, an example is provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of the developed control laws.

Abstract:This paper addresses the robust H∞ issue of uncertain Markovian jump linear systems (MJLSs) with mode-dependent time-delays. A new delay-dependent condition on the stochastic stability is proposed by a new stochastic Lyapunov- Krasovskii functional. The stability conditions are formulated as bilinear matrix inequalities solvable by an iterative linear matrix inequality (LMI) method. Abstract:This paper studies the problem of stochastic stability and disturbance attenuation for a class of uncertain Markovian jump linear systems with time-delays which are time-varying and depend on the system mode.Sufficient conditions for the existence of a robust and non-fragile H-infinity controller are derived.By using the change of variables and Schur complements,the obtained conditions can be rewritten as a set of coupled linear matrix inequalities(LMIs),and the H-infinity controller can be constructed through the numerical solution of these LMIs.An illustrative numerical example is provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

Abstract:By employing the jumping control Lyapunov function, a class of uncertain nonlinear jump systems was researched. Under the assumption that there exists jumping control Lyapunov function that satisfies the small control property, an adaptive feedback control law was provided to guarantee the global asymptotic stability with probability one of the closed-loop system according to the Markovian jumping versions of the well-known Lasalle stability theorem. Finally, a numerical example is given to demonstrate the validity of the results.

Abstract:This paper investigates robust adaptive switching controller design for Markovian jump nonlinear systems with unmodeled dynamics and Wiener noise. The concerned system is of strict-feedback form, and the statistics information of noise is unknown due to practical limitation. With the ordinary input-to-state stability (ISS) extended to jump case, stochastic Lyapunov stability criterion is proposed. By using backstepping technique and stochastic small-gain theorem, a switching controller is designed such that stochastic stability is ensured. Also system states will converge to an attractive region whose radius can be made as small as possible with appropriate control parameters chosen. A simulation example illustrates the validity of this method.

Abstract:This article investigates H-infinity control for continuous time Markov jump systems subject to joint input-state constraint and intermittent mode information loss. The considered constraint, which is defined as a quadratic function of the system state and control input, is very general since it covers the input constraint, state constraint, or other constraints for physical quantities of interest. The mode information loss is described by a Bernoulli stochastic process. As a result, the system mode and controller mode form a special case of hidden Markov model. By means of an mode-dependent Lyapunov function, a sufficient condition is presented, which can guarantee that the closed-loop system is exponentially mean square stable with a certain H-infinity noise attenuation performance under the joint input-state constraint. Finally, an example is presented to analyze the influence of some important parameters and illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed control scheme.

Abstract:In this paper, the H-infinity optimal output tracking control problem for Markov jump systems is investigated, where the two cases with known or completely unknown transition probabilities are both considered. Based on game theory and H-infinity performance, quadratic cost is considered, where a discount parameter is introduced into the quadratic cost in order to track unstable systems and eliminate the assumption that the noise energy is bounded. The game coupled algebraic Riccati equation and the corresponding controller are presented by dynamic programming. The stochastic stability of the tracking error system is further investigated. Moreover, iterative and reinforcement learning-based algorithms are proposed for solving the H-infinity optimal tracking controller with known or completely unknown transition probabilities, respectively. Finally, some numerical simulations on a DC motor are performed to validate the effectiveness of the proposed results.
