Abstract:A novel approach to quantum cryptography to be called NQKD, networking quantum key distribution, has been developed for secure quantum communication schemes on the basis of the complementary relations of entanglement Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger (GHZ) triplet states. One scheme distributes the private key among legal participants in a probabilistic manner, while another transmits the deterministic message with some certainty. Some decoy photons are employed for preventing a potential eavesdropper from attacking quantum channels. The present schemes are efficient as there exists an elegant method for key distributions. The security of the proposed schemes is exactly guaranteed by the entanglement of the GHZ quantum system, which is illustrated in security analysis.

Abstract:An unsymmetrical quantum key distribution protocol is proposed, in which Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger (GHZ) triplet states are used to obtain the secret key. Except the lost qubits due to the unperfectness of the physical devices, the unsymmetrical characteristic makes all transmitted qubits useful. This leads to an excellent efficiency, which reaches 100% in an ideal case. The security is studied from the aspect of information theory. By using the correlation of the GHZ tripartite entanglement state, eavesdropping can be easily checked out, which indicates that the presented protocol is more secure.

Abstract:We propose a high-efficiency three-party quantum key agreement protocol, by utilizing two-photon polarization-entangled Bell states and a few single-photon polarization states as the information carriers, and we use the quantum dense coding method to improve its efficiency. In this protocol, each participant performs one of four unitary operations to encode their sub-secret key on the passing photons which contain two parts, the first quantum qubits of Bell states and a small number of single-photon states. At the end of this protocol, based on very little information announced by other, all participants involved can deduce the same final shared key simultaneously. We analyze the security and the efficiency of this protocol, showing that it has a high efficiency and can resist both outside attacks and inside attacks. As a consequence, our protocol is a secure and efficient three-party quantum key agreement protocol.

Abstract:In this paper, we first re-examine the previous protocol of controlled quantum secure direct communication of Zhang et al.’s scheme, which was found insecure under two kinds of attacks, fake entangled particles attack and disentanglement attack. Then, by changing the party of the preparation of cluster states and using unitary operations, we present an improved protocol which can avoid these two kinds of attacks. Moreover, the protocol is proposed using the three-qubit partially entangled set of states. It is more efficient by only using three particles rather than four or even more to transmit one bit secret information. Given our using state is much easier to prepare for multiqubit states and our protocol needs less measurement resource, it makes this protocol more convenient from an applied point of view.

Abstract:A secure quantum key distribution protocol is proposed to distribute the three-dimensional secret message in a two-way quantum channel based on the entanglement of two-qutrit quantum system. The present protocol has an advantage over transmitting directly the secret message with large capacity since the distributed message has been imposed on nonorthogonal two-qutrit-entangled states by the sender using the superdense coding via local unitary operations. The security is ensured by the entanglement of the two-qutrit quantum system and the secure transmission of the traveling-particle sequence in the lossless and noiseless channel.

Abstract:Using the previously shared Einstein–Podolsky–Rosen pairs, a proposal which can be used to distribute a quantum key and identify the user's identification simultaneously is presented. In this scheme, two local unitary operations and the Bell state measurement are used. Combined with quantum memories, a cryptographic network is proposed. One advantage is no classical communication is needed, which make the scheme more secure. The secure analysis of this scheme is shown.

Abstract:Recently, Boyer et al. presented a novel semiquantum key distribution protocol [Phys. Rev. Lett. 99 (2007) 140501] by using four quantum states, each of which is randomly prepared in the.. or.. basis. Here we present a semiquantum key distribution protocol by using maximally entangled states in which quantum Alice shares a secret key with classical Bob. Quantum Alice has the ability to prepare Bell states and perform Bell basis or computational basis measurement. Classical Bob is restricted to measuring, preparing a particle in the computational basis, reflecting or reordering the particles. The qubit efficiency of the protocol improves to 50% and the protocol can be modified to a measure-resend protocol or a protocol without quantum memory. We also show that the protocol is secure against eavesdropping.

Abstract:The authors call attention to previous work with related result, a quantum-key-distribution scheme based on partial unknown entanglement with Wigner's inequality to establish the security of the quantum channel. The sender chooses any entangled state from a certain set or its equivalent state randomly, and sends a sequence of particles out of each pair to the receiver. The two users each choose between two measurements along the fixed axes. In fact, this is a quantum cryptosystem based on mixed entanglement. The main paper was published in Phys. Rev. A 64, 032305 (2001).

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate properties of some multi-particle entangled states and, from the properties applying the secret sharing present a new type of quantum key distribution protocols as generalization of quantum key distribution between two persons. In the protocols each group can retrieve the secure key string, only if all members in each group should cooperate with one another. We also show that the protocols are secure against an external eavesdropper using the intercept/resend strategy.

Abstract:Quantum correlation between two particles and among three particles show nonclassic properties that can be used for providing secure transmission of information. In this paper, we propose two quantum key distribution schemes for quantum cryptographic network, which use the correlation properties of two and three particles. One is implemented by the Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger state, and another is implemented by the Bell states. These schemes need a trusted information center like that in the classic cryptography. The optimal efficiency of the proposed protocols are higher than that in the previous schemes.

Abstract:Unlike from the existing classical protocols, a quantum key distribution (QKD) protocol can help two remote parties do secure private communication with proven security. We study various QKD protocols with special emphasis on security, feasibility and robustness. The security proof of the standard four-state protocol can be done based on the virtual entanglement purification by classical hashing. QKD can be done with unconditional security even when an imperfect source such as the coherent light from a traditional laser device is used. In particular, we show that one can do QKD effectively with a traditional laser device through the decoy-state method, i.e., changing the intensity of each pulse randomly among three values. One can improve the key rate and noise threshold if the channel noise is asymmetric. One can also do QKD more robustly with a two-qubit quantum code given that the channel noise is collective or independent.

Abstract:Quantum key distribution allows two parties, traditionally known as Alice and Bob, to establish a secure random cryptographic key if, firstly, they have access to a quantum communication channel, and secondly, they can exchange classical public messages which can be monitored but not altered by an eavesdropper, Eve. Quantum key distribution provides perfect security because, unlike its classical counterpart, it relies on the laws of physics rather than on ensuring that successful eavesdropping would require excessive computational effort. However, security proofs of quantum key distribution are not trivial and are usually restricted in their applicability to specific protocols. In contrast, we present a general and conceptually simple proof which can be applied to a number of different protocols. It relies on the fact that a cryptographic procedure called privacy amplification is equally secure when an adversary’s memory for data storage is quantum rather than classical [1].

Abstract:Quantum Key Distribution, as a branch of quantum mechanics in cryptography, can distribute keys between legal communication parties in an unconditionally secure manner, thus can realize in transmitting confidential information with unconditional security. We consider a Phase-Matching Quantum Key Distribution protocol with 3-state systems for the first time, where the phase of the coherent state is 3,thus we propose three different ways to response to every successful detection and two parties gain their raw keys by "flip and flip". The simulation results show that compared with Phase-Matching Quantum Key Distribution protocol where the phase equals 2, the proposed protocol breaks the limit of linear key generation rate in a shorter distance, and the longest practical transmission distance is about 470 $km$, whereas the ones of BB84 protocol is lower than 250 $km$.

Abstract:We give an entanglement assisted scheme for quantum key distribution. The scheme requires the maximally entangled 2-qubit state but does not require any quantum storage. The scheme is unconditionally secure under whatever Eve's attack. Given the symmetric noisy channel with uncorrelated noise, our scheme can tolerate the bit error rate up to 26% in the 4-state case and 30% in the 6-state respectively, respectively. These values are higher than those of all currently known two-level-state schemes without using a quantum storage.

Abstract:Quantum key distribution (QKD) is a secure communication method that utilizes the principles of quantum mechanics to establish secret keys. The central task in the study of QKD is to prove security in the presence of an eavesdropper with unlimited computational power. In this work, we successfully solve a long-standing open question of the security analysis for the three-state QKD protocol with realistic devices, i,e, the weak coherent state source. We prove the existence of the squashing model for the measurement settings in the three-state protocol. This enables the reduction of measurement dimensionality, allowing for key rate computations using the numerical approach. We conduct numerical simulations to evaluate the key rate performance. The simulation results show that we achieve a communication distance of up to 200 km.

Abstract:A technique is devised to perform orthogonal state quantum key distribution. In this scheme, entangled parts of a quantum information carrier are sent from Alice to Bob through two quantum channels. However, before the transmission, the order of the quantum information carrier in one channel is reordered so that Eve cannot steal useful information. At the receiver’s end, the order of the quantum information carrier is restored. The order rearrangement operation in both parties is controlled by a prior shared control key which is used repeatedly in a quantum key distribution session.

Abstract:The general conditions for the orthogonal product states of the multi-state systems to be used in quantum key distribution (QKD) are proposed, and a novel QKD scheme with orthogonal product states in the 3x3 Hilbert space is presented. We show that this protocol has many distinct features such as great capacity, high efficiency. The generalization to nxn systems is also discussed and a fancy limitation for the eavesdropper's success probability is reached.
