Production Status of Apple Production and the Planning for Different Main Producing Areas in Beijing

Abstract:Currently, apple plantation in Beijing covers an area of 8, 400 ha, with an output value of 622 million yuan. Apple is one of the most important fruit tree in Beijing. Main apple producing areas in Beijing include warm apple producing area in front of northern mountains, apple producing area in the valley of northeast mountain, mountainous apple producing area in Yanqing Basin, apple producing area on two sides of Yongding River in Mentougou District, scattered apple producing areas on southern plain and apple producing area in southwest Beijing. In the next few years, it is suggested that total apple planting area should be increased to 10, 000 ha on the basis of the optimization of apple varieties. Land circulation and intensive management are also encouraged and the construction of safe fruit bases should also be accelerated, so as to achieve standardized production. Green bagels cultivation should also be actively explored so that labor cost can be steadily reduced. The sustainable development of apple industry can be ensured through updating and rejuvenation. Finally, sightseeing level of apple orchards should be enhanced, and some new busines models including cultural leisure, parent-child experience and fitness culture should be constantly explored.
