Abstract:The study of competitiveness has been paid more and more attentions during the last two decades. Although many researchers are devoted to exploring the indexes that measure the competitiveness, most existing literatures focus on the national and regional competitiveness of the whole economic. This paper integrates previous empirical studies of national competitiveness and proposed a framework for determinants determining the competitiveness of regional manufacturing, where there are 5 determinants in the framework including value-creating capacity, productivity and efficiency, openness, technology and innovation, and sustainable development capacity. Then the paper gives a complete list of the components of the competitiveness indexes to measure the regional manufacturing competitiveness. Finally, we do an empirical study, and the results indicate the trend that it is getting less and less competitive from eastern regions to western regions.
