Abstract:Low-angle estimation problem is still a challenging for very high frequency (VHF) radar system due to the multipath interference. The time reversal (TR) technique, leading to the multipath components superimposing in-phase, provides a way to take full advantage of the multipath components. The TR technique is built on reciprocity. However, as for low-angle estimation problem of metric wave radar, the reciprocity conditions may not hold since the target moves fast at low attitude criterion. In order to address this problem, the adaptive time reversal multiple signal classification algorithm (ATR-MUSIC) is proposed in this paper. The adaptive time reversal (ATR) strategy operates at the receiver with monostatic MIMO radar system and doesn't have to retransmit the time reverse normalized signal for a second time. Hence, this strategy doesn't need to ensure the target is stationary to hold the reciprocity condition. Different from the TR technique, the ATR strategy adjusts not only the phase of the receiving signals, but also the amplitude of the receiving signals. Furthermore, the proposed method is able to solve the coherent problem without any decorrelation preprocessing. To reduce the computational cost of the proposed method, the beam space algorithm is utilized to develop the adaptive time reversal beam space multiple signal classification (ATR-BSMUSIC) algorithm in this paper. The proposed methods have a much better performance compared with other benchmark algorithms. And the simulation results are presented to verify the effectiveness of the proposed algorithms.
