Abstract:The invention provides a device and a method for previewing a streaming media. The device comprises a driven engine, a streaming media module, a wireless connecting module and a virtual file mapping database, wherein the driven engine is used for receiving a file reading request sent by a player and sending the file reading request to the streaming media module, the streaming media module is connected with the driven engine, and is used for controlling the wireless connecting module to download files from an on-line media resource, the wireless connecting module is connected with the streaming media module and is used for downloading a previewing head file and a previewing tail file from the on-line media resource in a wireless way, and the virtual file mapping database is connected with the streaming media module and is used for storing the downloaded previewing head file and previewing tail file. The device and the method have the advantages that the previewing service is provided for a user, the simplicity and the easy implementation are realized, and the experience of the user is optimized.
