Abstract:Since present display technology is projecting 3D to 2D, people ' s eyes are deceived by the loss of spatial data. So it's a revolution for human vision to develop a real 3D display device. The monitor is based on emissive pad with 64*256 LED array. When rotated at a frequency of 10 Hertz, it shows real 3D images with pixels at their exact positions. The article presents a procedure that the software possesses 3D object and converts to volumetric 3D formatted data for this system. For simulating the phenomenon on PC, it also presents a program remodels the object based on OpenGL. An algorithm for faster processing and optimizing rendering speed is also given. The monitor provides real 3D scenes with free visual angle. It can be expected that the revolution will bring a strike on modern monitors and will lead to a new world for display technology.

Abstract:Research focuses on a new efficient screen space approach for high complex dynamic scenes in real-time rendering. The method renders large outdoor complex dynamic mesh scenes or archaeological sites acquired by scanner with high image quality. The proposed algorithm utilizes the hierarchical spatial structure to calculate the set of dynamic point-sample instead of random point-sample set. It simplifies the calculation of choosing the set of point-sample. Also this reduces the requirement of memory. When compared to the randomized z-buffer algorithm it has very less redundant points, it is necessary to implement interpolation because all pixels in the screen are covered. It is convenient to conduct view-dependent multi-resolution rendering with LOD control. The pre-computed data structures employed by the proposed algorithm allow the interactive dynamic updates on the scenes.

Abstract:With the fast development of network and graphic accelerator cards,network streaming transmission of three-dimensional data sets has become a hotspot in computer graphics.In this paper,we present a hybrid primitive-based rendering system.It adopts new partition method as well as hybrid primitives to represent the data within the block.It not only retain the advantages of point-based rendering,but also adopt out-of-core rendering technique to reduce the storage requirement.Besides,it is more suitable for remote visualization of large three-dimensional data sets.

Abstract:This paper proposes a real time and high quality rendering algorithm for large scale point models. First it introduces a distance dependent adaptive rendering scheme which reduces the computation without loss of quality. As a preprocess, large scale point model is subdivided into multiple patches and a hierarchical structure is built for each patch and converted into a linear binary tree. During rendering, the model is processed patch by patch. Fast view frustum and back face culling, based on respective bounding box and normal cone, are first performed to determine invisible patches. Visible patches are then rendered by choosing appropriate rendering mode and view dependent level of detail. For determined level of detail, corresponding point geometry is accessed from the linear binary tree. Adaptive distance dependent rendering is accomplished to select point geometry, yielding better performance without loss of quality. In addition, This paper proposes a fast compression and decompression technique and achieve 8 times compression ratio to store all geometry information in local video memory. By exploiting the power of programmable graphics hardware, the proposed algorithm achieves real time high quality rendering in consumer PCs.

Abstract:Recent advances in 3D scanning technologies have enabled us to acquire large scale point-clouds data rapidly. Point-based representation has been introduced as a versatile and powerful graphics primitive. This paper proposes an adaptive rendering algorithm for large scale point models. The algorithm first subdivide the target model into multiple patches in the preprocess. A hierarchical structure is built for each patch and then converted into a linear binary tree. During rendering, the model is processed patch by patch. Fast visibility decision is made to cull invisible patches. Visible patches are displayed in graphics processing units (GPU) by choosing appropriate rendering mode, i.e, a distance-dependent strategy. Our algorithm takes full advantage of CPU and effectively balances the workload between CPU and CPU. We also propose a fast compression/decompression technique which achieves 8 times compression ratio. Experimental results demonstrates high performance and image quality rendering for large scale 3D scanning models in consumer PCs.

Abstract:We present a novel approach for interactive rendering of massive 3D models. Our approach integrates adaptive sampling-based simplification, visibility culling, out-of-core data management and level-of-detail. We use a unified scene graph representation for acceleration techniques. In preprocessing, we subdivide large objects, and build a BVH clustering hierarchy. We make use of a novel adaptive sampling method to generate LOD models: AdaptiveVoxels . The AdaptiveVoxels reduces the preprocessing cost and our out-of-core rendering algorithm improves rendering efficiency. We have implemented our algorithm on a desktop PC. We can render massive CAD and isosurface models, consisting of hundreds of millions of triangles interactively with little loss in image quality.

Abstract:Plant's 3D structure is quite complex. This paper presents an Open Synthetic Plant Modeling Method. It includes three parts:plant's realistic representation model,synthetic modeling method and realistic display method. Branch is the base element of plant's realistic representation model and is simulated by cublic parameter surface. The synthetic modeling method is implemented by interactively using several simulation methods in the growth procedure of plant. Bark texture and leaf are added to realistically display the plant's 3D structure, Four test examples indicate that this method is feasible in plant's 3D modeling.

Abstract:In order to enhance the imaging quality of tomographic 3D display technique, the original light field was firstly reconstructed with acrylic panels and films before exerting adjustments. The freedom for adjusting display quality was expanded by adding layer weight and light field weight as factors, enabling the display quality to be changed while external factors remain stable. The mutual independence of line images under a horizontal parallax circumstance was confirmed, and thus a line division method was applied in the calculation to eliminate the time complexity of the fitting proceed. As the memory is saved and efficiency is enhanced, it is possible to achieve more accurate calculation in limited time. Given other factors are determined, the maximum resolution of images to be calculated under the original method is 900 X 1 200 pixel, but the line division method is able to calculate 1 800 X 2 400 pixel images without memory overflow. The evaluation standard of the effect of image reconstruction is established based on the image variance, under which it is found that increasing resolution and layer number, decreasing field of view or balancing layer weight can enhance holistic reconstruction quality, and the quality of a certain angle of view can be promoted by adding to its light field weight correspondingly. Parallax is observed in a fabricated 3-layer model with 1mm layer distance, denoting the distinguished advantage of tomographic 3D display in the reconstruction of light field.

Abstract:Realistic force feedback is important when performing assembly tasks in synthesized virtual environments since it can enhance the users' immersion experience. This paper presents a realistic force rendering algorithm to facilitate virtual assembly process. To reflect the area contact feature of force feedback dataglve and gain efficiency for force computation, the algorithm employs clusters of line segments as a new kind of force proxies to sample the estimated contact area of the fingertips. To further accelerate the collision detection process, a voxelization scheme is presented for target geometric models. A typical application is described in a CAVE-based immersive virtual assembly environment. Experimental results are presented and show that the feedback force generated with the algorithm is stable and realistic due to the area contact feature and efficiency of force computation.

Abstract:Micro-appearance models offer state-of-the-art quality for cloth renderings. Unfortunately, they usually rely on 3D volumes or fiber meshes that are not only data-intensive but also expensive to render. Traditional surface-based models, on the other hand, are light-weight and fast to render but normally lack the fidelity and details important for design and prototyping applications. We introduce a multi-scale, hybrid model to bridge this gap for thin fabrics. Our model enjoys both the compactness and speedy rendering offered by traditional surface-based models and the rich details provided by the micro-appearance models. Further, we propose a new algorithm to convert state-of-the-art micro-appearance models into our representation while qualitatively preserving the detailed appearance. We demonstrate the effectiveness of our technique by integrating it into a real-time rendering system.

Abstract:To satisfy different observational demands, a real-time interactive volume rendering for laser scanning confocal microscope (LSCM) image was realized on the PC.An interactive transfer function was proposed through analyzing optical properties of LSCM image, so that the users can enroll in exploring the LSCM data set by altering rendering parameters. The texture mapping based on visualization method is adopted to realize real-time 3D reconstruction.The algorithm was realized on the common PC. All 3D reconstruction results, which fulfills various demands, was obtained by the above algorithm with LSCM data set sized 256 x 256 x 40 pixels. In the process of reconstruction, the object could be re-rendered at a rate of 10 frames per second when the rendering parameters were adjusted.Different from the traditional algorithms, the one we demonstrate here is able to offer a real-time environment on the PC and to get the 3D reconstruction results, thus easily achieve diverse observational mapping.

Abstract:Level of detail (LoD) method is a key technique for real-time rendering. The generation algorithms of LoD models may be divided into two categories: static or view-independent algorithms and dynamic or view-dependent algorithms, each has its own advantages and drawbacks. This paper presents a new realtime rendering algorithm incorporating both of the two kinds. We simplify polygonal models viewindependently according to a user-specified approximation error first. Then the simplified models are used in a view-dependent real-time rendering algorithm. The paper presents a new view-dependent realtime mesh simplification algorithm. The algorithm can produce simplified models in real time while controlling the rendering pixel error. Examples illustrate efficiency of the algorithm.

Abstract:Real-time visual feedback can improve the sense of immersion in virtual surgery. This paper analyses two different rendering methods:surface rendering and volume rendering. In order to meet the system＇s real-time interactive requirement,surface rendering algorithm mixed with 3-dimension texture mapping for volume model are realized. It can give both the more realistic image and real-time operation. Because of the special texture building way,it can handle the rendering process (during deformation and cutting) successfully.

Abstract:Background In recent years, with the rapid development of mobile Internet and Web3D technologies, a large number of web-based online 3D visualization applications have emerged. Web3D applications, including Web3D online tourism, Web3D online architecture, Web3D online education environment, Web3D online medical care, and Web3D online shopping are examples of these applications that leverage 3D rendering on the web. These applications have pushed the boundaries of traditional web applications that use text, sound, image, video, and 2D animation as their main communication media, and resorted to 3D virtual scenes as the main interaction object, enabling a user experience that delivers a strong sense of immersion. This paper approached the emerging Web3D applications that generate stronger impacts on people's lives through "real-time rendering technology", which is the core technology of Web3D. This paper discusses all the major 3D graphics APIs of Web3D and the well-known Web3D engines at home and abroad and classify the real-time rendering frameworks of Web3D applications into different categories. Results Finally, this study analyzed the specific demand posed by different fields to Web3D applications by referring to the representative Web3D applications in each particular field. Conclusions Our survey results show that Web3D applications based on real-time rendering have in-depth sectors of society and even family, which is a trend that has influence on every line of industry.

A three-dimensional model generation method for holographic display

Abstract:Holographic three-dimensional (3D) display can reproduce the amplitude and phase of the wavefront, providing perfect reconstructions of real 3D scenes. The computer-generated hologram (CGH) for the 3D model is calculated by the layer-based angular-spectrum theory. The wavefront is encoded by the CGH which is uploaded on the phase-only spatial light modulator. In order to achieve holographic 3D display with the high-definition, the number of layers and the resolution of the 3D model are significantly important. In this work, the effects of the number of layers and the resolution on reconstruction quality are analyzed quantitatively, which provides a guidance for the design of holographic 3D display system. A high-definition 3D display system with a high-resolution 3D data module based on Kinect Azure is designed and built, realizing a high quality 3D display effect.

Abstract:This paper starts with the study of realistic three-dimensional models, from the two aspects of ink art style simulation model and three-dimensional display technology, explores the three-dimensional display model of three-dimensional model ink style, and conducts experiments through the software development platform and auxiliary software. The feasibility of the model is verified. Aiming at the problem of real-time rendering of large-scale 3D scenes in the model, efficient visibility rejection method and a multiresolution fast rendering method were designed to realize the rapid construction and rendering of ink art 3D virtual reality scenes in a big data environment. A two-dimensional cellular automaton is used to simulate a brushstroke model with ink and wash style, and outlines are drawn along the path of the brushstroke to obtain an effect close to the artistic style of ink and wash painting. Set the surface of the model with ink style brushstroke texture patterns, refer to the depth map, normal map, and curvature map information of the model, and simulate the drawing effect of the method by procedural texture mapping. Example verification shows that the rapid visualization analysis model of ink art big data designed in this paper is in line with the prediction requirements of ink art big data three-dimensional display indicators. The fast visibility removal method is used to deal with large-scale three-dimensional ink art in a big data environment. High efficiency is achieved in virtual reality scenes, and the multiresolution fast rendering method better maintains the appearance of the prediction model without major deformation.
