Abstract:Highlights • Based on the electroosmotic coupling theory, rough fractal bending capillary bundle model and volume element characterization, the electroosmotic coupling model of rough porous media with water saturation is established. • The expressions of total electroosmotic flow rate, maximum back pressure difference, electric coefficient, product of permeability and formation factors, relative flow potential coefficient and effective excess charge density including capillary structure parameters and water saturation are derived. • By calculating the predicted values based on the relevant literature data and comparing them with the experimental data, the correctness and effectiveness of the model are verified. Research indicates that surface roughness has a significant impact on the electroosmotic flow characteristics. In this paper, an electroosmotic flow model for rough porous media containing water saturation and based on the theory of electroosmotic coupling and fractal theory is established. Expressions for the electroosmotic flow rate, maximum backpressure difference, electroosmotic pressure coefficient, the product of permeability and correlation coefficient, relative stream function coefficient, and effective excess charge density are derived. The results indicate that both relative roughness and capillary structure parameters have a certain influence on the electroosmotic flow characteristics. Specifically, relative roughness exhibits a positive correlation with the electro-osmotic pressure coefficient and a negative correlation with characteristics such as maximum flow rate. The experimental data obtained previously have been compared with the model's projected values, confirming the correctness and effectiveness of the model.
