Empirical Study of the Occupational Values of College Counselors

Abstract:In this study ,the occupational values of college counselors were defined on the basis of literature re‐view .1000 college counselors from different universities in Liaoning ,Jilin , Hubei , Henan and Guangdong provinces w ere selected at random and the scale of college counselor occupational values w as established by questionnaire survey .Statistical methods of t‐test and variance analysis were employed to examine the current situation of occupational values in China college counselors .There are seven factors in this scale ,including de‐gree of social recognition ,sense of accomplishment ,material reward ,intellectual stimulation ,interpersonal re‐lationship ,altruism and sense of safety .The scale was tested and verified showing that it has good reliability and validity .The results indicated that counselor occupational values were different significantly in gender ,ma‐rital status ,age ,years of working and education background .
