New Materials of Jiangxi Poetry School in the Song Dynasty Found from the Overseas Chinese Classics and Their Value

Abstract:Jiangxi Poetry School was the most influential poetic group in the Song Dynasty,in which more than half of 25 poets in this school left no any collections of poems and some poets only with a few poems. However some new materials of Jiangxi Poetry School are still protected in the overseas Chinese classics,such as the lost poems of two Jiangxi poets in Tangsong Qianjia Lianzhu Shige and 29 lost poems of 11 poets in Xuxinbian Fenlei Zhujia Shiji,which are the largest collection of lost poems about Jiangxi Poetry School in recent years. The over-seas Chinese classics are of great value in both the compilation of the lost and the academic studies. The selected poems in Liangzhu Shige are given the commentaries of the editor Cai Zhengsun,which can be compared with those about Yingkui Lüsui made by Fang Hui in his ages as well as the poetic comments by Liu Chenweng. Li-anzhu Shige included Additional Annotations by the Korean scholars Xu Juzheng and so on,which interpreted both the event and the conception,becoming the earliest annotating works on the poems of Jiangxi Poetry School in the academic history of East Asia. The Chinese classics Jinxiuduan Xiangzhu by Utsunomiya and Jinxiuduan Duanchao by unknown author in Japan also covered about ten pieces of annotations about the poems of Jiangxi Poetry School that were thorough and accurate. In a nutshell,the new materials of folk poets in all those overseas Chinese classics can enrich the cognition of Jiangxi Poetry School.
