Abstract:Objective:To understand the ethical behaviors and the basic status of work among the Chinese psychological supervisors.Methods:The self-made questionnaire of the ethical problems in psychotherapy and counseling were used as evaluation tools.Totally 1000 questionnaires were handed out,and there were 601 questionnaires returned and valid.Of all the valid ones,there were 167 participants answered that they had once worked as a psychological supervisor guiding or instructing being-trained advisory students,and they were classified in the supervisor group.The comparison group was 178 stratified random samples of the remaining 434 ones,and it was in accordance with the sex ratio of the supervisors group.Results:Compared with the control group(51.4%),the proportion of the supervisors who had senior or intermediate title(72.5%)was higher.They had longer career life,longer work time every week,and the proportion of the supervisors who worked in counseling for more than 6 years was 46.4%,and who worked over 6 hours each week was 67.7%,while the proportion of the comparison group was 20.0% and 39.1%.The supervisors gave the consultant more treatments on average.They complied with the time better and they charged more.The proportion of the supervisors who gave the consultant treatments more than 6 times on average,made each consultation time of 50 minutes,and charge over 50 Yuan once were 62%,74.9% and 78.5%,yet the proportion of the control group were 37.1%,57.6% and 60%.And the supervisors who had received full-time training for more than 3 months or formal training of psychological treatment for 2 years(78.2%)were much more than the comparison group(54.4%)(Ps<0.01).Besides,compared with the control group,supervisors had less difficulty(67.7% vs.79.7%),less negative emotion of fear,trepidation and so on(46.3% vs.67%),more psychotherapy and counseling(78.8% vs.63.5%),better time-setting(76.5% vs.62.3%),and gave a more clear informed-consent(87.8% vs.78.2%)in the course of counseling and psychotherapy(Ps<0.05).But there were no statistical significances between the two groups in confidentiality as well as sexual and non-sexual dual relationships.Conclusion:Currently Chinese psychological supervisors' basic status of work is better than that of counselors and psychotherapists,and they have higher degree.In conforming to ethical code,they do well on most facets,such as the professional and emotional competences,the principles of informed-consensus and the settings of therapies.But they should improve in some aspects,such as the dual relationships and confidentiality.
