Abstract:In the newly excavated epitaphs, there are three concerned Liu Changqing, a famous poet in the middle Tang dynasty. Depending on the epitaphs and other presented documents, we can further discuss several problems about Liu Changqing’s life story. First, he was the chief military officer in Junyi county, Chenliu prefecture. Secondly, the date of his success in the highest imperial examination is determined with the new proofs. Thirdly, the time when he was the imperial supervisor can be determined now. Fourthly the time when he became the Zhuanyun judge of E-yue is cleared.

Abstract:Liu xizai is a famous writer in literary criticism in late Qing Dynasty,whose book The Sum of Literature gives a high and correct evaluation of Li bai's poems and is quite creative.This is exhibited in these aspects: the origin of Li bai 's poems can be traced back to Zhuang and Sao;Li bai had great ambitions and wanted to assist a ruler in governing a country,but his poems often represent the opposition;his words have proper limits in essence;Li bai's poems have elegant content and rhythm and besides,he often has Promethean verses.

Abstract:The present paper sorts or straightens out the activities of Song Wan(1614-1673)in the po-etry circle of the capital between the Ming and the Qing Dynasty,especially his three contacts with the capital poetry circle after he yielded to the Qing Dynasty,and their significance. His first contact during the early years of the reign of Emperor Shunzhi( reigned 1644-1661 )is an opportunity for him to be in-tegrated with the early - Qing - dynasty palace literati and accepts the literary ideas of the Yunjian School;his second contact during the reign of Emperor Shunzhi,an opportunity for him to become one of the 〝seven members of Yantai( i. e. Peking,the capital)〝and whereby to become famous;and his third contact during the early years of the reign of Emperor Kangxi( reigned 1662-1722 ),an opportunity for him to introduce his own literary ideas into the capital after he changed his mind to venerate the Ci-poet-ry of the Song Dynasty,and this has become an important part of the worshipping of the Ci-poetry of the song Dynasty.

Abstract:There existed an anecdote, in the anonymous Biographies of Wise Men, about Huiyuan treating Tao Yuanming and Lu Xiujing as honored guests and seeing them off across the Tiger Stream against the usual practice while laughingly talking about the truth. Though some scholars cast doubt upon its truth, the anecdote became material for art and literature since the Tang and Song dynasties. This theme has also drawn attention of artists and Sino-literature writers in Korea and their works based on the theme offer interesting references and valuable comments upon the three wise men.

Abstract:Shortly after the foundation of the Yuan Dynasty,emperors established two cities,Dadu and Shangdu in order to control the Central Plains of the Han and maintain their own customs.The former one was cited as its capital and the latter one the imperial summer palace.With the institution of imperial tour being set up,many scholars as a retinue of bodyguards created a large number of frontier poetry during the course of heading to the north when passing by the Great Wall.The poetry falls into two categories,travel notes and feeling notes of Shangdu,according to its style.The poetry not only has left a brilliant page in literary and artistic history of our country,but also been a combination of literature values.

Abstract:The prosperous cultural milieu in the early period of the Tang Dynasty has helped Liu Zhiji have a good scholarly culti- vation.He then became an official through the entrance examination.But he got famous during Wu Zetian period due to his advice to the empress,whose commands availed him of an opportunity to compile historical books.It is until Emperor Zhong Zong period that Liu Zhiji ’s masterpiece Shitong came into being in spite of troubles found in the process of compilation.In the survey of Liu Zhiji ’s life,it is easy to see that Wu Zetian period is a crucial one for Liu Zhiji ’s career of historiography.Without this period,it would be impossible for him to compose such an important work Shitong.

Abstract:Lu Xun held in his A Brief History of Traditional Chinese Fiction (Zhongguo Xiaoshuo Shilue) that the five short stories including Daye Shiyiji (A Recollected Story in the Reign of Daye), Meifei Zhuan (Imperial Concubine Mei) were actually written in the Song Dynasty. Due to the fact that LU Xun did not offer any concrete proof for the argument, later scholars have been doubting even negating this viewpoint. The present paper reaffirmed LU Xun's viewpoint mainly by way of such textual research as pointing out some words and phrases including names of some emperors which were avoided as taboo in the Tang Dynasty.

Landscape architecture in the globalization era

Abstract:The article talks about the symbolism of the «Three Friends of Winter» in Chinese culture and landscape design. Plum, pine and bamboo are chosen to symbolize friendship, strength and resilience, respectively. Chinese culture is grateful to the poet of the Song Dynasty, Su Dongpo, for creating the image. For a thousand years, this symbol has become an integral part of the artistic worldview of the entire Chinese nation. These plants are often used in Chinese landscape design and are depicted in paintings and ceramic products. The symbolism of the «Three Friends of Winter» has a deep symbolic meaning and is used to convey various emotional wishes on a mental level. Long before Su Dongpo, residents of different parts of the country used these plants in everyday life, medicine, construction, and cooking.

Abstract:As a case of her personal history,Cai Yen's captivity and return to Han(汉) is a narrative theme in history of ancient China.For ages over 1700 years,this narrative theme has been repeatedly presented by either domestic or overseas litterateurs and artists by means of literature,music,painting,drama and other kinds of aesthetic forms,expressing their sorrowful laments for plight of themselves and desired expectations for their personality.From the point of view which exposes the authentic sense of this phenomenon by the method of comparative literature studies,it has a significant international academic significance by tenaciously probing the archetype of diaspora that has precipitated deeply into cultural traditions of the Chinese people;since the world is in the age of globalization,the "Han" of "Cai Yen's captivity and return to Han" has been totally elaborated and worshiped as a hometown complex of mother tongue culture in China in those creations overseas by those ethnic Chinese litterateurs and artists.The study of cross-borders about the archetype of diaspora,which set "Cai Yen's captivity and return to Han" as a central research,has integrated the Western archetype theory and exploration of archetype about Chinese traditional culture into a whole unity.This idea of study has expanded a brand-new space for comparative literature studies between the intersection of western theories and Chinese cultural traditions.
On Song Lian's Activities and Literary Creation in Various Circumstances

Abstract:Song Lian was born in the late Yuan dynasty in the Wu zhou prefecture, which was distinguished by Neo-Confucians as ″Little Zou-Lu ″, referring to the native places of Mencius and Confucius respectively. His te achers, like Huang Jin, Liu Guan and Wu Lai, were all famous Confucian scholars. His failure in the imperial civil examinations, along with the social upheaval and political corruption that characterized his time, caused Song Lian to loose confidence in the Yuan regime. As fate would have it, he united with Zhu Yuanzha ng, expending great effort assisting the latter on the way from the hero of the common people up to the founding emperor of the Ming dynasty. In the early Ming period, Song Lian, receiving a lot of special treatment from Emperor Zhu, wrote quite a few essays in praise of him. No wonder, people today tend to detest him in this regard. However, the other side of the coin is that Song Lian's exceedingly harsh living conditions in the beginning of the Ming dynasty caused a big change in his ment ality and literary creation. Firstly, many of Song's essays prior to the Ming ma de a most telling exposure and scathing criticism of the late Yuan's maladminist ration, malpractice, and ghastly ways of the world. His essays of this nature du ring the early Ming, however, were greatly reduced in number and much less trenc hant. Secondly, Song's essays prior to the Ming were subjective, aggressive, for ceful and unrestrained. But, his essays in the early Ming were chiefly persuasiv e, being solemn and refined in style and mild and reserved in tone. Thirdly, Son g Lian as a minister showed loving concern for those at the bottom of society, a nd he wrote biographies for Li Ge, Du Huan, Li Yi and others, praising their goo d virtue and strong character.
