Structural Characteristics of Cross Border Network in Chinese Urban System:Based on the Headquarter-Affiliate Relationship of World 500 Top Enterprises

Abstract:As an attempt to investigate the structural characteristics of cross border network in Chinese urban system, it was analyzed the structural property of the 2-mode network which composed of cities connected by the headquarter-affiliate relationship of the world’ s top 500 enterprises. The results are as follows:Firstly, network dis-tributes broadly and differently by regions. Secondly, network elements show rank-size distribution on the whole, and show varying degrees of deviation from “ideal value”. Thirdly, endogenous network and exogenous network forms some differences in composition of cities. Forthly, exogenous network has large scale than endogenous network, and forms a certain structural features within it. Fifthly, in exogenous network, structural features of degree centrality and the core-periphery is revealed significantly, and cities among Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, Suzhou, etc., and a-mong the outside Tokyo, Seoul, Singapore, New York, etc., showed a significant link shared characteristics.
