Abstract:As a new structure of crossing straits and long rivers, the mechanical behavior of submerged floating tunnel (SFT) under water environment is very complicated. It raises high requirements on strength, durability and water resistance and etc. for the structure and component materials. The traditional materials such as steel, ordinary concrete are not suitable for SFT construction, because they are easy to crack and corrode, and have poor durability when cracked. Because its' high strength, high workability and high durability, high performance fiber reinforced concrete (HPFRC) may be a better alternative material for building SFT. But it is worth studying how to design HPFRC submerged floating tunnel. The paper discuses some key technologies to be solved such as the related mechanical behavior (impact resistance, fatigue resistance, cracking resistance, etc.), design (calculation method, the cross-section optimization and reasonable arrangement), economy and construction methods (segment production and installation), and analyzes the application prospect of high performance concrete in SFT. In order to ensure the structural safety, the risk control and active protection system during SFT operation monitoring are proposed. There is no doubt that the application of high performance concrete can greatly promote the development of SFT.
